These are original concept designs for the Key of Thundera, the hasp of the Book of Omens, the Mirror of truth and the chain of Loyalty. Dennis Woodyard (writer of OS series Thundercats episodes: The Shadowmaster & the Well of Doubt and staff animation director/designer) designed these pieces. I love seeing this kind of stuff. Its great. I have also always loved the Treasure of Thundera, so seeing these was one of those jaw dropping moments for me.

I always thought it was a bit odd that the chain of loyalty had the faces of the TCs. Were they supposed to be the only TCs ever? Werent there other TCs before them? And if thundera hadnt exploded, werent there going to be some after them? They were not inmortal, right?
I always thought it was odd that the Chain of Loyalty exists. It is a delicate charm bracelet that, if broken, causes the ThunderCats to fight each other. For what purpose would this exist? Why would they create something like this?
Agreed again - it’s one of the many problems I have with the later series. Some sources call it all one big second season, others call it seasons 2-4, and for this purpose I shall split it into three:
SEASON 2: While I didn’t like the Lunataks, that’s purely a matter of taste. With better handling, they could have been great.
SEASON 3: New Thundera - a destroyed planet instantly re-forms and becomes livable again just like that? Plus, the whole concept of the Treasure Of Thundera - if it’s that big a deal to the Cats, how come they didn’t take it with them when Thundera first exploded? It’s not as if they didn’t have time, they knew what was happening to the planet far enough in advance to organise a mass evacuation!
SEASON 4: Relocating “back” to New Thundera, and leaving a couple of their number behind. That’s just plan wrong. How did Tygra and Pumyra feel about that really? And then the whole premise of Thunderian refugees - where have they come from? They were all killed in the very first episode! And if they’re suddenly coming to New Thundera all out of the blue, how come none of them ever went to Third Earth?
I agree with thyis as well, and always founfd it odd too.
Even more, why would it make the TCs fight each other if broken? Not being loyal to one another doesn’t mean you necessarily want to kill them, right?
This was one of the eps that confused me the most.
I think they didn’t like that very much. That fact aropused a lot of questions on my mind at the time:
Were Pumyra and Tygra supposed to take care of CatsLair and the Tower of Omens all by themselves? I mean, at least when all the TCs lived in Third Earth, maintenance works were done between 10 individuals, now each of them had to take care of a whole building.
Why did they rebuild the ToO anyway? At least they could have left Tygra and Pumyra in the same building to have some company.
Who cooked for them?there was no Sanrf anymore.
When did they take a break from monitor duties and/or had a sleep? Who watched over the planet then?
Why didn’t they established a rotation system? You know, Tygra and Pumyra stayed for a mmopnth, then Cheetara and Bengali, then Panthro and Lynx-O, and so on. That would have been fair.
The whole idea of New Thundera was annoying to me.
Agreed. It’s part of the problem I have with the later series - and why I only have the first series on DVD, and indeed why I am not going to change that!
Other thing is, in “Exodus”, jaga explainecd the Tcs that while living in Thudenra they never needed clothes, thus they were naked in the Royal Ship. But when Lion-O had the vision of Pumyra, Bengli and Lynx-O fleeding the planet, they were already wearing clothes, same as the Royal Guards and Claudus in “Return to Thudnera”.
Maybe walking naked was a distinctive sign of being a Noble TC, while ordinary commoners had to wear clothes? But then why Claudus would wear them?
Another goof. In the Anointment trials, we found about some interesting facts about the TCs, most notorious that Tygra has a mental power that allows him to create illusions, and that Cheetara can hold her superspeed for only 4 kms (in the Spanish version of the show).
However, none of these facts were mentioned when MULE explained to Safari Joe the strenghts, abilities and weaknesses of the TCs. I think it would’ve been helpful for the bounty hunter to know those facts, right?
