I think they’ve established very clearly that’s Claudus’s big weakness was he had a huge blind spot where it come to loyalty to his friends. It’s what they used against him to kill him. I don’t think Claudus saw it in Grune because Claudus didn’t want to see it. Same with Pathro.
I wonder if on the flip side that blind loyalty where it didn’t work with Grune will pay off in spades with Tygra later on. I was worrying that we’d see later Claudus took Tygra in for all the wrong reasons. I’m not so worried about that the more they show us of him.
Did anyone else notice in the flashback sequence that old Grune still had both of his humungous fangs? He must of lost one of them in service to Claudis. Maybe that’s why betrayed the kingdom. No good dental plans in Thundera! :o

If you do not agree with someones view of the series which Nine Tiger has reviewed in a resepctful manner then by all means feel free to visit other forums where you are not bothered by someone else’s view.
I dont do this publically but you are walking on a very thin rope. I would advise you keep it civil even if you dont agree on someone’s view of the series.
Bottom line…be respectful when someone provides a respectful view on something, if you dont agree then go somewhere else

There so much potential with the new Tygra, if executed well, i believe he might be the breakout character of Thundecats.
Of course, that’s if the show can stop being too Lion-O centric and give the other characters some spotlight and not just be background.
I’ve seen it. I agree, it’s a fun show. It’s just that those older '70s documentaries seem more cornier by comparison.

They are building Claudus in to one heck of a character.
It would be interesting to meet the woman that ruled next to him.
I for one (and I’m pretty sure that I’m not alone in this) am hoping lots more flashback sequences involving Claudus being voiced over by Mr. Larry Kenney. His delivery is still pretty amazing and adds dramatic tension to any scene that he’s in.

[COLOR=“Red”]These are threads for discussing the new episodes, and obviously for some fans, the new show isn’t going to be their cup of tea.
It’s their right to dislike the new show and say why, likewise it’s others’ right to disagree with their views (and also say why).
However, I’m seeing a couple of instances in this thread of the discussion getting personal. Fans should be free to post their views (from both sides of the argument) in these threads without things getting personal or heated. Please respect your fellow posters.

I had a high standard for the new show based on what the producers’ said. So far, in my opinion, they have not delivered an “adult” show.
I am no 80’s fanatic. But I am a Thundercat fan fiction writer of longer standing than I care to imagine. I would have liked to have seen the new show done better for the reasons I have stated.
The old show was of its time, designed to work on two levels, for adults and children. It must have possessed some quality that made people long for a reboot, don’t you think. That word is Heart.

Loved last night’s episode! Great story and flashback sequences. I give this ep a solid 9.5 finally we are getting some history lessons. I can’t wait to find out more about Mumm-Ra and his connection to the sword of omens.
Only time will tell what show will remain in the hearts and minds of people. I expected better.
As this is done by a Japanese studio, I would suggest Guin Saga and Moribito as two shows worth watching.
I’d take a crack at a script in a heartbeat if the opportunity presented itself.

Well, on the playfullness, I’m guessing that’s not so easy to be after everything that happened, give it time I’d say.
And honestly, she’s my favorite character in each ep, like I said earlier, that like about how she expected Panthro to be less spiky was just brilliant.
But all in all, it’s just the 5th ep, give it time. I mean, Tygra’s gotta even less.
They did provide backstory, I just think it could have been done in a way that offered more opportunity for growth with the other characters, and better pacing. When Grune showed up, I would think Lion-o and Tygra would have had fierce reactions, for example.

What would really be funny is if baby Cheetara was a real princess type, but after a brutal massacre, which leaves her an orphan, she was taken in by Jaga, and trained up to be a “cleric” against type. Just a thought.

While I can agree with NineTiger that the character interaction could be done way better the overall story archs presented are great and I am very pleased thus far with the series.
I do remember the OS being a bit awkward during the beginning of the series. Then as the characters were more fleshed out it all started to gel. I’m hoping that it will be the same here.
I’m so delighted with this episode. The story line is wonderful, and the writers are making Panthro into as well-rounded a character as the original Panthro was. Lion-O behaving like a headstrong youngster who thinks he knows everything because of his newly acquired kingship is appropriate, as the first Lion-O was very much that way in the beginning and the writing staff is wisely sticking to that game-plan. And they’re doing an excellent job with Grune; at last we get to see him in all his dark ambition, but I have to agree that Panthro should have picked up on that more quickly than he did. The confrontation between Lion-O and Driller was intense, and yes, it made Panthro realize that there was more to Lion-O than just his carrying the Sword of Omens – as well as possibly help Lion-O earn driving lessons from Panthro! And since Tygra was able to do the invisibility trick without his whip, it means we will indeed see Cheetara use her sixth sense in the all-too-near future.
The reference to the samoflange was cute; it means the writers did their homework on all aspects of the old series. Hats off to them! 
I have only a few gripes with this story. I’m a bit surprised than neither Lion-O nor Tygra remembered Panthro when they saw him again; the courtyard flashback of both young princes dueling while Panthro and Grune look on means the boys knew them both, but maybe all it took for them to remember was Panthro telling them who he was. I also think Cheetara should have grabbed double-handfuls of thundrillium before she and her comrades fled from the collapsing mine. And it wasn’t explained where or how Panthro got hold of the Thundertank, so maybe that story will be told in a future episode.
It seems I jumped the gun when I thought Larry Kenney wasn’t there to voice Claudus again. He most certainly was, and it was joy to hear him.
And I predict this episode will give the show its highest ratings to date.
We don’t know how Tygra and Lion-O react to betrayal. Tygra could very well be going “You’re dead to me” at Grune right now for all we know, or they’re both unwilling to step between Grune and Panthro, which probably would be pretty stupid considering how this Panthro was acting towards them at that time. They’ve both had Grune in front of them already after Claudus was killed, and they didn’t really fly at his throat then, so it’s not certain they’re ever going to fly into a rage at the sight of him.
More to the point the focus at that point was Panthro’s reaction to seeing Grune again and the flashback sequence that followed.
