I’m starting to rethink the idea someone had of Mumm-Ra being a bat instead of a Thunderian. In this episode he had a few bat-like features like how when he walked down the steps he only used the front of his feet, and how upturned his nose looked. Add in the bat wings from his Ever-living form and he is very bat-like. Though I still like the idea of him being an ancient Thunderian better.
Digging the new vocalizations of Mumm-Ra too. It’s a more cooly sinister Mumm-Ra for sure.
Best one? I would say that’s the first ones that aired still.
About the episode.. It was very good. I like how we finally got some backstory behind some of the plot and not just about Panthro and Grune, but also little bit about Lion-O and Tygra, Mumm-Ra and we got to see more of Larry Kenney, yey! 
What i dont like is that Tygra and Cheetara did nothing against the Driller.. Meh. Panthro got his ass kicked.. Meh… The kid saves the day cause he’s the main character… Meh.

the greatest episode so far.. and I’ll tell you why.
first time I really felt the depth of the conflict and the characters as the background of panthro and grune folded.
first time mumm-ra actually gave me some chills.. as the beackground story was very convincing..
the first time liono comes in to show that he’s not some lame ass *****cat in a convincing manner.. this time it’s not just emotion and ego that drive him.. it’s the reality of the situation and the need to push things forward when the time is right.
every dialogue had some sophistication and thought made behind it (in contrast to the previous one where all the dialogues sounded like they were taken from some corny fouled disney sell out). I just loved that final line by panthro. 
and finally.. loved the idea of lynxo being promoted to General!
still things that needs to get cleared though.. how panthro survived his fall and how and where on earth did he learn to build the thundertank?

That was an enjoyable enough episode but…
I think they showed us the meeting between Panthro and Grune waaaay to soon and could have done more to lead up to it to make it more impactful and epic. As it was it was a bit…limp.
However i loved the new Driller and i hope he wasn’t just a mindless machine but has a character and will return later.
Panthro could become the best character on this show as well as the original series
I was thinking the exact same thing especially when the Sarcophagus Opened and it looked all tech inside. Mumm-Ra is a Goauld!!!

Now if they could sharpen Tygra’s sarcasm to Jack O’Neil’s season 1 levels.
I had taped the episode like I usually do, so I can watch it when I wish. As I played it I had to stifle the urge to fast forward past all the action, otherwise, there would have been maybe 2 minutes of dialogue and actual story. I think this is the fundamental problem with all the episodes so far, and why they go by quickly, and why the pacing is so horribly off. There is no time left for the quietness of character development, mood and setting, like in the OS.
Already we can predict, Lion-o will fly off the handle and fight, others will join in, Lion-o will save the day. Every episode has played this card, and it is frankly boring, and has left no room for development of the other characters.
We did get some backstory for Panthro, Grune and Mumm-Ra, but it could have been done far more effectively by being shorter, leaving time for answers to the questions of :
How did Panthro acquire the Thundertank?
How did he learn about Thundrillium?
Why is he such a mechanical whiz if Thunderans don’t use technology?
How does Tygra go invisible?
What happened to the female royal members of the house of Claudus? (Or does anyone really care? Let’s go fight.)
Oh, that is right, I forgot, this is “modern storytelling”, all look, no substance. Quite frankly, this is…the cat box.
I am thinking of just bagging the series, and waiting for the DVD, but from what I have seen so far, I can’t see spending money on something that I will only watch once, something without heart and soul. This series may make it to 26 episodes, but I can’t see it going beyond that unless something changes radically for the better, like having a woman bust into the boys’ club to write a decent, character driven episode.
I am certainly wondering why Comcast listed “sexual situations” for this episode, along with “moderate violence”. I guess I have learned not to trust anything they put in their digital guide after this.

Ok I think we are al forgetting that this is a reboot which means Panthro does not necessarily build the Thunder tank. He could have come by it so many different ways. My basic theory is when he fell down the shaft 1. he obviously survived. 2 he then had to make his way out of the pyramid and in doing so he ran across Mumm-Ra’s Tech. He then picked a piece that spoke to him. During his time with it he has learned the basics of how to operate the vehicle but does he know how to fix it??? Did anyone else see him trying to fix the tank with a hammer and then trying to stomp on it?. To quote my High School Shop teacher “If its broke get a hammer if it is still broke get a bigger hammer.”
As for Tygra going invisible I think it is an adaptation of the old theory on how tigers Silently Stalk their prey and are only seen once they finally pounce. that or it was something he was taught by Jaga as a special skill to give him an advantage in battle. Seeing as he was part of the royal family he got Special Training
Finally for the Female members of the royal court… They are all off on safari hunting… after all that is what the Lionesses do… I am actually very curious about this myself I want to know what happened to Lion-O’s Mom!!!
this was the best ep of the new series so far to me
now we know why grune is on mummras side, mummras pyramid looks alien to me as well.

the drillers appearence was nice but he was destroyed it seemed pretty quick so hopefully we see him come back as a transformer:p

Seriously just getting tired of you really… You still talk like this is some serious high level production when it’s not.
I’ve watched the OS on DVD recently, it is not much better in any way. So sure, you may not like the new one but saying the old one is better cause of this and that (your opinions) is just… I don’t wanna say the word.
We still don’t know much about this series, episode 3 and 4 made it seem to be the “monster of the week” while episode 1-2 and 5 gave it action and story. I hope there will be more action and story as the fighting and action in general in the OS is just not even intresting. Nor is the story which it kinda lacks.

It seems to me your just stuck in that mind set of “i cant be arsed with it..” Infact, there are many episodes of the OS i feel the same.. Some bore me, some dont… and the story telling and backstorys in this so far are superb and much deeper than the originals.. Its 5 episodes in ffs.. So far, not one of the new ones has bored me and ive already watched them near 4/5 times each with my son.. Anyway.. Im done entertaining you
As for the series so far.. I freaking love them all… This was a superb episode.. For the amount of air time they have theyve done it perfectly..

Only thing that i thought was a let down was driller.. He was one of my favourite villians in the OS.. While he looks amazingly superbly fantastic, lol.. I was abit upset about him being a robot, with no emotions.. Wish he was in it for diamonds so he could sharpen his tips like the OS.. Lets hope some Johnny 5 accident happens, lol… Hope he was just Knocked out and not killed.. Plenty of Thundrillium in there for him to resharpen it
Off to watch it again and cannot wait for the new episodes!!
Dude, they’re not gonna answer everything in one episode. I thought this episode was very character driven. Don’t get all whiny because you don’t like the characters it was centered on.
I, too, have been watching the OS on and off for the past couple of years since I’ve acquired the entire collection. The story, drama, and action are nothing to write home about. But the lore. The lore that this new series is expanding in, is top notch. Anyone expecting more is crazy. Anyone saying the OS did it better is crazy. I love the OS, don’t get me wrong. But I’m not blind to its flaws now that I’ve been watching them in my adult life.
The original show contained the following pattern:
-Hey we’re Thundercats hanging out having fun/doing chores.
-Crap what was that? We better take a look. You and you and you stay here. Him and her will come with me.
-Oh no its a trap.
-Mumm-ra the ever living rwar. Oops you got the better of me. See ya.
-That’s right, Thundercats, having friends you can trust means we win.
I’m overly simplifying it but it was never much deeper than that. I also never liked the inconsistentcy of the sword of omens powers. One episode it can cur through thick, steel doors to reach lion-o’s hand and another it’d be stuck out of reach separated by nothing or a thin wall.
I actually thought this episode was very reminiscent of the OS if you take out the flashbacks.
Panthro: We’re out of Thundrillium! But I know where to get more.
Lion-O: Lets go get it! Thunderkittens stay behind!
Bad guy: You can’t get this Thundrillium because It’s mine!
Lion-O: Thundercats Ho!
Bad guy: Next time!
Of course that’s over simplifying things, but I hope everyone sees my point.
The flashbacks didn’t slow things down for me. They added to the story and fleshed out things we were only guessing about before and turned this from an episode almost exactly like the OS to my favorite episode so far since the premiere.
I actually agree. It was the first episode to capture the old show’s feel… but added to the overall story arc a bit more than an OS episode would have.
I do hope there’s a Cheetara-centric episode soon though. I’m just not feeling her so far. I’m still waiting for the “fierce” Cheetara that Emmanuelle Chriqui kept talking about. Not to mention the playfulness you see in her eyes in the premiere, which I haven’t seen since.
