Did Panthro know Thundera was destroyed before he found the gang?

My guess is no. Remember, Panthro had been gone from Thundera for a long time and therefore hadn’t known it had fallen, so he could only find out after Lion-O and the others told him.

I think this is sort of the point I was going towards. How is he gonna feel once he finds out… although he must know as They told him Claudus fought till the end which means if Claudus is ended then so is the Kingdom. Now it is up to Lion-O to rebuild it. Gonna be Fun!

If Panthro didn’t already know then he should’ve had some reaction to hearing about an old friend being dead (not to mention his homeland destroyed). At the very least, if he didn’t know for sure, I’d wager that he at least suspected it had happened after Grune’s betrayal.

You’d think Pathro would take great exception to them using HIS image to lure his king and friend to his death. Though Pathro might still be a little seriously PO’ed about the whole trying to kill him gig.

The bad guys using his double ganger to kill Claudis might come up later when Pathro is laying a epic beatdown on Grune.

I think when they find out Jaga is still alive is when they’re planning on exploring that a little.

We haven’t really seen too much on Tygra’s feeling about losing Claudus either. But I think it’s coming.

Yeah, I’m thinking we’ll probably see episodes for them fairly soon.

For Cheetara, I’m thinking we’ll get a flashback to her past and how she ended up with Jaga and becoming a Cleric. It also wouldn’t surprise me if losing Jaga twice would be enough for her to break down a bit emotionally (Jaga obviously is going to die at some point). Even people that have excellent emotional control will probably break down having their emotions yanked around like a yo-yo.

For Tygra, I’m thinking his problems will be tied more into getting over Claudus’ death and him having to get used to Lion-O will grow to a point that Tygra won’t be better than him at everything.

When a company sees product selling, they want to make it sell more. And our on-line presence helps them get feedback as well.

Hence, why I’m going to buy the box set for each season when it comes out in support. I don’t collect models or toys so buying those wouldn’t be an option for me personally.

Hell, I may just buy the toys and another box set of each season for my nephews as well for their birthdays/christmas. They would love it I’m sure and my sister and her husband would probably enjoy watching the show with their kids as well.

Now, for my two cents on why Thundercats has endured over the years.

It’s not, in anyway, due to “Fan-Fiction”. I’ve found interest in only two Fic writers. One is Purrsia, and the other wrote and EXTREMELY dark story about Jaga and the Sword actually being evil. I read the latter because it was unique.

Thundercats has endured due to two things: Re-runs and sales. I dare say if Cartoon Network never used Thundercats as part of their premier block for Toonami, our chances of getting a new series would’ve been slim.

Why?

Simple. Airing Thundercats a decade later introduced a new generation to the same show we watched. Not a remake, not a newer show, but THE SAME ONE. Therefore, more exposure.

Our obsession with consumerism helps as well. Remember when Hot Topics first started selling those shirts with the off-center logo? We still bought them, didn’t we?

When a company sees product selling, they want to make it sell more. And our on-line presence helps them get feedback as well.

I just noticed this and wonder if it was intentional or not.

The final shot of Lion-O using the sword to push back Driller, the stance and camera angle and even those “1980s lasery sound effects” really seem to call back to the final scene in the original show’s opening.

Am I reading too much into it or do you think that was intentional?

Yes, Panthro now knows about Thundera’s destruction and all those deaths because Lion-O and his group told him. There is no way he could know ahead of time unless he had some kind of clairvoyance about it and realized he was powerless to stop Thundera’s downfall.

I think Cheetara might have belonged to a wealthy family that sent her to be a cleric. You know, just like in SW and the Jedi apprenctices.

I live in Peru, and in our history there was an era (the viceroyalty and colony), it was common that the most wealthy families sent their daughters to convents to become nuns… but it cost a lot, so only wealthy families could afford that. Then the girls were recluted to the convent and lost cevery contact with their families.

I think it would be great if Cheetara’s past is turns out to be something like that. Maybe she was the only daughter to parens with many sons, and they always sensed soemthing special in her, so gave her o Jaga to train her and she never saw her parents again.

I’d like that for a change, because with Tygra and the kittens, and now Lion-o, there are too many orphans already

An image of what appears to be Jackalman in the background right is seen as Grune first reaches for the sarcophagus. Possibly the same figure holding the scythe in the foreground of the fight scene. Moments earlier as Grune ascends the steps, maybe Vultureman on the left.

Just statues? Or are they and their armies frozen in stone to be later awakened by Mumm-Ra as perhaps Claudus’ scroll portends?

I cannot get over how fantastic this new stuff is! I love the epic, ongoing tale. This is the differce between the 80’s show and this one, in the 80’s they just wrote one show at a time (exept for the 5 parters, I know) with a lot of discontinuity because of it. I never thought I’d like this show as much as I do.. I still like the 80’s toon better, but this one sure gives it a run for its money..

Guin Saga and Seirei No Moribito were directed by two talented men and you can tell that both series are based in popular novels, thundercats is based in a 80’s animated show. Saying that I think the new thundercats is generic, it feels rushed and the poor directing and animation doesn’t help, they fail to bring the eye candy in the actions scenes even.

I’m very disappointed because the problem begins with the lazy storyboard and layout work, there is not planning or choreography behind the action, someone throw a punch and someone falls and that’s pretty much it. Canaan, Darker than Black, Soul Eater, Ghost In the shell SAC, GITS SAC 2nd GIG, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are really good in that department, they should learn from those shows.

I always got the impression it was meant more for the former than the latter. I never got that same sense of sophistication that I did when watching an episode of Star Blazers or Robotech, which still hold up for me at age 40 as much they did when I watched them at age 10 or 16. All apologies, but I can’t really say the same about the original Thundercats.[/SIZE][/FONT]

Definitely done for kids, but I always felt this thread of adult (we are in on the joke) running through it. I think that is what inspired people to try their hand at fan fiction or RPG.

I do think the presence of Thundercat bulletin boards and fan fiction powered the first resurgence on Toonami. Actions movies contriburted to the reboot as well as toys, but the messengers, bulletin boards and fan fiction, kept the heart beating. Consider the Star Trek franchise and read the book

Lol. RARELY does that happen. Fan Fiction specially, is dominated by nothing more than badly thought out stories with self insert Mary-sue’s and horrible character distortion created to be nothing more than a personal fantasy by the writer with no respect to the source material.

The only attention that gets is either naive readers with the same lacking mentality or people who just laugh at it.

If someone is to thank for the return of ThunderCats it’s, the toy Collectors, most of which are male.

Please elaborate on what they could had fleshed out?

The objective of the first five episodes has basically been to establish what this characters are going to do and get the team together. It hasn’t really left much time left for everyone to get a decent share.

Plus if we have to talk about the apparent Lion-O love, let’s take it up with the OS as well, who shoved that down our throats.

I admit, he storytelling is feeling off in this series. But that’s because I set my expectations way to high. Yet I’m enjoying myself, specialy considering that this show is a gem when we look at what we have this day and age.

Toy sales definitely helped give the final push, but bulletin boards and fan fiction kept he light on for all these years.

The first five episodes could have been paced better, less action to establish character. Watch Guin Saga.

Way to paint all the people who read and write fanfic with a broad brush, there. :rolleyes:

Also, it’s pretty arrogant to say that any sect of a fandom (writers, toy collectors, etc.) is more important than another, and it makes whoever says it look like an elitist and a snob.

And can we please can the sexism on both sides of this argument? I, for one, find it offensive.

I think that women should roar when necessary. It is the only way to get change. So put me in the Thundering woman camp.

I think that’s because the OS created such a vast open world with tons of inspiring, original characters. Plus there were lots of things left unexplained, mystified. People with imagination and passion love this kind of stuff.

I used the word dominated for more than one reason. Just because something is dominated by nonsense doesn’t mean there isn’t a minor few who know better.

And who ever said one sect is more important than the other? Well hat’s what Nine Tiger was doing themselves by portraying the fanfic part as having so much power. While the ones who proved to have power in this fandom where the collectors. Hit the net, what do you find more? TCat fanfic writers, or collectors? I believe it’s the latter.

Also, what sexism? I’m a girl for crying out loud. As said, I’m just pointing out who had more power. Nine Tiger acts like it’s the fanfic authors, who they said are mostly female. While it’s really the collectors, who are mostly male.

Toys did help with the resurrection, no denying it, but the bulletin boards and fan fiction preserved the civilization.

I make my comments about the new show in the hope that things may one day improve in the show. They have so much to work with, as compared to the original. It is hard to watch them falter.
