It does feel like Tygra & Cheetara are just chilling behind the scenes commenting on everything rather than being actual characters.
But I’m hoping for big character moments for them. Like its been pointed, something has to be made of the Tygra/Grune relationship, MAYBE even having Mumm-Ra try to contact & seduce him the same way he did Grune only for Tygra to resist, knowing where his true loyalty lies.
As for Cheetara, something needs to be brought up regarding her relationship with Jaga. I mean Lion-O & Tygra lost Claudis, but poor Cheetara lost her father figure as well.
I think when they find out Jaga is still alive is when they’re planning on exploring that a little.
We haven’t really seen too much on Tygra’s feeling about losing Claudus either. But I think it’s coming.
Here is an odd thought. How is Panthro going to feel when they tell him they are going after the Book. I mean it did not go so well for him last time… :eek:
For all we know Panthro could’ve still been searching for the book when he saw the signal.
I doubt he’d have a problem with it because:
- He’d probably realize by going after the Book he’d be able to confront Grune again. and 2. With Thundera destroyed he has no home to go back to either, so what else would he do but support his king?

In their defense it’s only been 5 episodes but i do feel the show goes out off it way for Lion-O. They could handle the group dynamic a little bit better though. Cheetara and Tygra just seem to be “there” in the last 3 episodes.
That’s what I figured, too. He was very dedicated, so it makes sense that even after the fallout with Grune, he’d continue to try to fulfill his mission before returning home. Now he no longer has a home to return to.

I always got the impression it was meant more for the former than the latter. I never got that same sense of sophistication that I did when watching an episode of Star Blazers or Robotech, which still hold up for me at age 40 as much they did when I watched them at age 10 or 16. The banner for the cult of Set led by Thulsa Doom looked an awful lot like Mumm-Ra’s, and was featured prominently in the end credits. Since I had seen Conan at least a year before Thundercats debuted, as soon as I saw Mumm-Ra’s insignia of the two serpents facing each other in a red circle I thought to myself, “Oh! [FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3]Despite both the fanfiction and the toy collecting community wanting to take credit for this revival, I think that simple pure nostalgia – and more importantly, money – was more of a factor here. There was talk of bringing back Thundercats for YEARS, but the ball didn’t really get rolling until the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies came out and were such huge successes. Once that happened and it was proven that there was a market for these ‘80s cartoon properties did they seriously start to take steps to bring them back. I don’t think that the fanfic writers kept the show alive as much as they kept it on life support. Had it not been for the success of the Transformers movies (regardless how much some fans may dislike them), we wouldn’t be watching the new Thundercats show now.[/SIZE][/FONT]

Did Panthro know Thundera was destroyed before he found the gang?
On the symbol thing, a blurb on my fan site for Voltron might’ve contributed to that confusion. The Doom Commander outfit worn by Cossack the Terrible, who appeared in the second season (1985 or 1986, around the same time as Thundercats came out), has a symbol on his helmet almost identical to the one on Mumm-Ra’s chest, and I pointed out the similarity in a trivia type way. But I don’t think one show borrowed from the other. I figured they both probably took it from some mythology somewhere.
I mean, I like Voltron, but both it and Golion (the Japanese version that the Voltron US dub was made from) borrowed heavily from other stuff. King Zarkon’s outfit is a rip-off of an actual historical figure’s (my friend Kyence’s website goes into the specifics of that, as she’s a huge Voltron fan), and in Golion they even stole the lightsaber sound effects straight from Star Wars for the light sword in some scenes. (Not surprising, considering Golion aired in the late '70s.)
So, that’s my TL;DR way of saying both Thundercats and Voltron likely borrowed that symbol from elsewhere and incorporated it into their design.

I don’t think so. I meant that he was probably still searching and had no idea of what was going on back home until then. The “he had no home to return to” would more factor in when he met Lion-O and the others and found out what happened.
I think this is sort of the point I was going towards. How is he gonna feel once he finds out… although he must know as They told him Claudus fought till the end which means if Claudus is ended then so is the Kingdom. Now it is up to Lion-O to rebuild it. Gonna be Fun!
