Give it time man. I can sense that it will develop that way as they battle together. The TCats will become more familial as the series progresses.

I always figured it was because Tygra had a personality the complete opposite of Lion-O and the two of them counter balanced each other like fire and water.
Though I gave Tygra and Pathro both points on the wisdom scale for knowing exactly how far over their heads they were at times.
Guin Saga and Seirei No Moribito were directed by two talented men and you can tell that both series are based in popular novels, thundercats is based in a 80’s animated show. Saying that I think the new thundercats is generic, it feels rushed and the poor directing and animation doesn’t help, they fail to bring the eye candy in the actions scenes even.
I’m very disappointed because the problem begins with the lazy storyboard and layout work, there is not planning or choreography behind the action, someone throw a punch and someone falls and that’s pretty much it. Canaan, Darker than Black, Soul Eater, Ghost In the shell SAC, GITS SAC 2nd GIG, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are really good in that department, they should learn from those shows.
Watched the episode, and besides everything everyone has said, here are my 2 cents:

Usually it’s the other way round as hair tends to fall, not grow, with age :D[/li][li]I agre: Panthro change of mind was too fast, it took just too little from Lion-O.[/li][li]I think Tygra did turn invisible (his body “winked” before appearing, not like Lion-o’s for example, who clearly came from the back).[/li][li]It was great to see Driller, but I was expecting him to ask for his diamond payment…[/li][li]Mumm-Ra said long ago they took what belonged to him… so he’s the real owner of the Sword of Omens? Of the Eye of Thundera?[/li][li]Serioulsy, the whole episode had a SW vibe to me, with Mumm-Ra being Palpatine, maybe Jaga Ob-Wan Kenobi, Grune Anakin/Darth Vader and Lion-O a Luke Skywalker (that might turn Tygra into Han Solo, Cheetara into Princess Leia, Panthro into Chewbacca, and the kittens into C-3PO and R2-D2).[/li][li]Sorry for this one, but aren’t Cheetara’s boobs too high on her chest?[/li][li]Tygra and Cheetara seem to share the same relationship that in the OS, closer between them than with the others. They’re always side by side, and at the end, when Cheetara got back to get some thundrilium, it was Tygra who shouted at her to get out. I wonder if they will soon go out in exploring missios together as in the OS.[/li][li]The flashbacks were great but too long IMO.[/li][li]I know this one have been mentioned, but still bugs me off: Lion-o only shouted “Thunder” 3 times, one was missing. In the OS, I used to think (and I know it may not be that way at all), that Lion-O called 4 “Thunders”, one for each Thundercat: Tygra, Cheetara, Panthro and the kittens as one. Of course, that all lost sense with teh introduction of the new TCs, but could be justified as they weren’t noble TCs. Yes, I’m also aware that we don’t know if there were other TCs besides the ones we knew, or if they were always 4, but still.[/li][/ul]
Overall, best episode since the premiere, but is still lacking something for me.

Lol. RARELY does that happen. Fan Fiction specially, is dominated by nothing more than badly thought out stories with self insert Mary-sue’s and horrible character distortion created to be nothing more than a personal fantasy by the writer with no respect to the source material.
The only attention that gets is either naive readers with the same lacking mentality or people who just laugh at it.
If someone is to thank for the return of ThunderCats it’s, the toy Collectors, most of which are male.
Please elaborate on what they could had fleshed out?
The objective of the first five episodes has basically been to establish what this characters are going to do and get the team together. It hasn’t really left much time left for everyone to get a decent share.
Plus if we have to talk about the apparent Lion-O love, let’s take it up with the OS as well, who shoved that down our throats.
I admit, he storytelling is feeling off in this series. But that’s because I set my expectations way to high. Yet I’m enjoying myself, specialy considering that this show is a gem when we look at what we have this day and age.
My other Star Wars vibe was Panthro saying something very like “Grune, I am your friend” before falling down the pit compared to Darth Vader’s “I am your father.”
I hope it turns out that the Thundertank is cobbled somehow from stuff at the bottom of that pit too. That Mumm-Ra and Grune assumed he was dead, went off to conquer Thundera and in the interim Panthro left.

As it was the very first ep and Lion-o had grown up in that space capsule, I’d say either he didn’t know how many TCs there were, ot he didn’t know how to count j/k
ETA: he does say 4 “thunders”.
Also in that vid he says Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, Thundercats. In “Old Friends” he just says Thunder, Thunder, Thundercats.
That being said, Lion-O didn’t say one “Thunder”…but the eye also didn’t open.

Also, it’s pretty arrogant to say that any sect of a fandom (writers, toy collectors, etc.) is more important than another, and it makes whoever says it look like an elitist and a snob.
And can we please can the sexism on both sides of this argument? I, for one, find it offensive.
I used the word dominated for more than one reason. Just because something is dominated by nonsense doesn’t mean there isn’t a minor few who know better.
And who ever said one sect is more important than the other? Well hat’s what Nine Tiger was doing themselves by portraying the fanfic part as having so much power. While the ones who proved to have power in this fandom where the collectors. Hit the net, what do you find more? TCat fanfic writers, or collectors? I believe it’s the latter.
Also, what sexism? I’m a girl for crying out loud. As said, I’m just pointing out who had more power. Nine Tiger acts like it’s the fanfic authors, who they said are mostly female. While it’s really the collectors, who are mostly male.

Ah, I see what you’re saying - I thought you meant the number of times he says the word “thunder” before saying the word “ThunderCats”! Yeah, if you count the first two syllables of the word “ThunderCats” then you’re right, he does say it four times…
I didn’t notice him say “Thunder” only twice before saying “ThunderCats” in this latest episode but I definitely believe you - strange that they did that!

Your own gender is irrelevant as to whether or not what you say is sexist.
Personally, I see two distinctly sexist vibes from both sides of this debate.
First, the implication that the new series, written by men, sucks because no women are working on it. Sexist, because it’s implying the writers’ genitalia has something to do with their ability to write. Pretty insulting to men, if you ask me.
I don’t even see the point of bringing up that fanfic writers are mostly women (and thus resurrecting the series, in that argument) of even being relevant. What the heck? It’s not a plot to keep the women down.
The counter-argument that men kept it alive because they buy toys is equally ridiculous. Maybe that isn’t the message you meant to convey, but that’s how it read to me.
How about just leaving gender out of the argument altogether? It doesn’t serve any purpose.
