Didn’t know if anyone had seen this report (didn’t see a post for it, or in any other threads) kinda sucks,
http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=291&itemid=18829
Hm, so it still looks like they’re still probably developing more toys.
Yeah, just wishful thinking comic-con would at least have some type of epic promo.. but then again, thats just bandai that doesn’t mean someone else isn’t going to have something slightly linked. (Even a new poster or something)
How can such a thing indicate anything positive about the franchise?
It doesn’t, but they did say they are still focusing on getting the toys shipped all around the world.
That could be why they haven’t created the 3rd wave. In addition, Bandia is probably playing it safe knowing the show might not get a second season.
We just need to do everything in our power to make sure there IS a second season.
Just read the article. In nutshell, don’t need to elaborate further on that, we’ve been doing so for the last months: Not Good For the franchise.
Yeah, I’ve sent him an e-mail asking when the next time we can talk is. Maybe get some more info on it and such.. maybe the news about series 2 and the push to get more out there was the news, IDK I need to get ahold of him and find out.. once the news is out there, no real problem saying “Yes that was it” so hopefully will talk sometime this week and I’ll update here as soon as I know something new. Been a really busy weekend I didn’t notice the post.
Sad fact is the toyline and the cartoon are canceled. Nothing at Toy Fair and now nothing for SDCC indicates it even more. It is a shame, but CN messed around showing it and having big breaks then Bandai messed up the toyline.
When Bandai say they are shipping out more products that is probably getting rid of what they have left to clearance stores. We will probably find them hanging up in Poundstretchers before long.
Actually, they are doing stuff for SDCC. They confirmed it on their Facebook page and have already shown an exclusive.
First exclusive is the classic Thundertank by Icon Heroes. More then likely the other exclusives will be OS related as well. If we got something from Bandai however then that would be big news. They said “items” so lets see what happens.
I beleive Icon Heroes have confirmed SDCC not Bandai, and since Bandai are the master licence holders it does not look good. At least Mezco and Icon Heroes are still making cool prducts based on the original series. :liono
Allright, just got off the phone with my friend a few minutes ago. Got 3 things out of him about thundercats.
1 ) Half of the “good news” was the push of series 2 toys, and showing the fact the line is still alive and well.
(still have some type of good news coming in about a month or so)
2 ) They have no intrest in ending the wave of figures from the 2011 series of Thundercats, and “We will see more from the new thundercats line well into 2013 from Bandai.” (and thats quoted) I got from talking further that pretty much don’t see anything really big till closer to chirstmas 2012, didn’t outright say it, but just kinda felt the “its coming, just not in the next few months” vibe.
3 ) The third was I think a direct hint at at something cause it kinda came out of the blue. We were talking about old figures (cause I’m trying to help him collect some older thundercat figures and just 80’s stuff) and out of the blue he said “It would be a real kick to see 6inch new figures repackaged like the old line” I said yeah to it and that was that… not sure if that was a hint or even just wishful thinking from another thundercat fan to another.
But all and all I did feel good talking to him and didn’t feel like he wasn’t sure about the stuff he told me about.
But take it as you will, and hopefully this is a good sign.
(Tried to type this out as fast as I could + sick so spelling is a little meh from my phone with autocurrect off
)
ZeroZhane is your friend working inside Bandai??
Yeah he works for Bandai in sales (alltho I think he is actually over another department now a mix of marketing/sales or one or the other) Like I said before, I’ve known him a long ways back almost 13+ years. We talk in e-mails/msn all the time, just only talk on the phone about new Tcats stuff. He really hasn’t ever given me wrong info in the past for other series of stuff I’ve collected thou bandai, and actually helped me awhile back getting bandai japan stuff imported in. So I at least take almost anything I get info wise from him as gold, :liono
So,if that’s the case, we have some very good news after a long time.
Thanks for sharing.
This is great news and has given me more hope that CN will seriously look into green lighting season two! I just feel that Bandai would need a season two from CN to sell their products to the vast majority.
By the way ZeroZhane, did your friend shed any insight if Bandai knows how CN feels about proceeding with season two?
Thanks for keeping us posted.
Well if Bandai can keep the toy line going and improve their quality and mak some more classics based on the OS to the same quality as the 8" Lion-O I will be very happy and I will buy them to support the line. ![]()
But we still need some actual official evidence from Bandai before we get our hopes up.
Sorry, a long time ago he told me getting a feel for what the company pushing a series out feels like is like politics. Its better not to say anything until everything is on paper, cause people say alot of things they might not have control over. (somone says “sure the series will run forever” when that person has no pull over it, and that becomes the mainstream news, until the next day when “its canceled” comes down from the high ups basically) But like I said I did get a feel that bandai at least was happy with the way the toys are selling. He did say that wave two is in high demand right now, and that makes bandai happy at least.
