There’s only so many things a new show can copy from other before it gets sad. While there’s no confirmation of any copying, the similarities in what we do know is interesting to say the least…
Claudus/Grune = Mufasa/Scar in Lion King
Panthro’s sideburns = Wolverine
Grune’s sabertooth and hair = Sabertooth
Lion-O gets larger when using the Sword of Omens = Prince Adam/He-Man
I do hope these similarities are just wild coincidences.
Tygra looks more like Wolverine than Panthro does.
And please…please, don’t ever give them the idea of giving ANYONE in the show a mullet.. please?
Is Lion-O supposed to physically change size when using the sword in the series?
Ok first off. Grune betrayed the Tcats in the OS too which was WAY before Lion King. Second, a LOT more characters have sideburns besides Wolverine. I’d say they’re ripping off that Cowboy Bebop guy before Wolverine. Third Grune’s hair looks absolutely nothing like Sabertooth’s and Sabertooth doesn’t actually have Saber teeth. And lastly Lion-O has never gotten larger or changed shape in any way by using the Sword of Omens.
I don’t think he is. I think that’s just his armor. For the first episode’s opening, I think it will have Lion-O without the armor, as seen in some shots, and the second will have him in it. And then once Panthro joins the team, he’ll be added to the opening too.
Also, I’m pretty sure Panthro’s chops make him look more like Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop.

Far too many characters to list here, but Sabertooths hair wasnt like Grunes. it didnt end in a point, it wasnt as wavey. In fact it was rather smooth unless he was in costume. And Grune is a Sabertooth..unlike..Sabertooth who was just a mutant…remember..cat people..??

Lion-o has never gotten beefier when using the sword. And in the new series its armor, and possible later clips after he has trained.
I could have sworn I read somewhere that when Lion-O is using the Sword that it makes him bigger - height and/or muscles… Maybe I am wrong.
With the Lion King reference, I am also pulling in the fact that the dark haired cat is the bad guy who works with the evil minions to kill the rightful king of the cats. I believe in the OS that Grune lead bad ThunDerians, not Mutants.

Too true, right from the very first trailer their great design just makes you want to root for them.
I guess they were indeed kind of inconsistent, sometimes they were pretty cool and at others even taking into account the times where they were appropriately effected by kid-style reactions and fears they still did have their annoying moments.
So exciting! Cannot wait till Friday!
I hope the kittens stay adorable, too. They look like they’re going to be such fun characters.
