Is it possible for a ‘comemorative’ line of figures to be released? I mean same design as the old toon but just the figures revamped? I think it would be a great way to get the ball rolling for a T-Cats relaunch. I’ve always wondered what the figures would look like if modern toy sculptures and what not were to put thier hands on them. I say release Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, and Cheetara as a first bold new wave and see how they do.
Also, I would like Lion-O’s hair to be real hair. Well, not REAL hair but you know the stuff mattel uses for thier barbie hair, only red. I always thought Lion-O’s hair was way too hard to sculpt just right.
i think that would be cool. BUt we still have no set answer on a new show/revival. I think new toys would be cool, I personally wouldnt want lion-os hair to be real. I would feel like it was a doll to much rather than an action figure. I also wouldnt want them to be too articulated or with giant muscles like everything else nowadays
I’d like also if they had a commemorative line, just like Mattel did with Motu. For those who don’t know, they sold some of the main characters of He-Man and The Masters of the Universe in the same box they were sold back in the 80’s.
It would be awesome to buy a complete Thundercat line MOC, C-10 quality! I’d probably had to count on my American friends to buy some of them for me in the US!
But I think it’s easier for us to expect a new toyline than those guys release a commemorative edition.
By the way, does someone knows if LJN still has the molds for the toys? I know that in some toylines they lost or destroyed molds back in those days. If I can recall correctly, they lost some molds for the Transformers toyline.

I’m not surprised that LJN no longer exists. During the few times I was in a toy store, I didn’t see anything made by them, so you’re right, Matt, who knows what happened to the ThunderCat molds. I guess this means the Cats will have to be redesigned anyway, huh?:bengali:
I think they must have other molds, I mean, there must be more than one for each figure, I mean, what if the Lion-O mold, during the productions in the 80’s broke?
They must have something somewhere… And It can’t be that hard to make a new one, I believe. With so many talented artists nowadays, and new techniques, it must be easy to make the same figure and then create a mold for it. Of course, without a new TVshow it would be impossible to handle all the production costs for only a “few” collectors who would buy the re-issues.
Why not have re-issues and a brand-new line? It would be great to see both, and I feel that fans who don’t own any of the old figures would jump at the chance to get them if they were brought out again.:cheetaraveryhappy:
As for the molds, they can always use the cartoon to make new molds for the old figures. Just a thought. :cheetaraveryhappy:

About the molds, I think they can’t make them using the cartoons for reference. I’ve read some molding sites and what some guys do is, put the original figure in something like silicon and let it dry. Then they cut it in half, releasing the figure. Now they have one mold! Then the put the plastic material on it and now they have a duplicate of it.
Of course, Thundercat toys are much more complex than the figures I saw them doing this and let us not forget that this mold I mentioned starts to deteriorate very easily.
I am sure they now have the means to make molds for the new figures, but reading through some forums I started to understand something about this: It’s all about costs. They must know that if they had the molds, starting to create the “new” figures would have some costs and they must know that it wouldn’t be “profitable” (spelling? does this word exist?).
They could do this, maybe in limited edition perhaps to catch peoples attention because a new line was coming!
Making sturdy molds out of existing vintage figures shouldnt be too hard and with the limited articulation I actually think whoever makes them could very well turn a good profit. Mold for re-issues shouldnt be too costly either. Whoever takes on the toyline should make re-issues and then hit it off with the new look. However I cant see all the figures re-issued perhaps all the Thundercats as well as Mumm-Ra and some mutants
As much as I would enjoy re-issues I don’t think it will happen. Besides people will not buy them. They just don’t have the same appeal as MOTU classic figures. Lets just stick to getting a new line
