[/ul]Warner Home Video has announced that the new 2011 series is coming home with Thundercats - Season 1, Book 1 on October 18th. The 2-disc package will cost $19.97 SRP and contain the first 8 episodes: “Omens, Part One”, “Omens, Part Two”, “Ramlak Rising”, “Song of the Petalars”, “Old Friends”, “Journey to the Tower of Omens”, “Legacy” and “The Duelist and the Drifter”. Voice cast includes Will Friedle (Kim Possible’s “Ron Stoppable”) as Lion-O, Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Madeleine Hall, Matthew Mercer, Eamon Pirruccello, and Clancy Brown (Lost, Starship Troopers, Carnivàle, Green Lantern, Jackie Chan Adventures, SpongeBob SquarePants’ “Mr. Crabs”, and “Lex Luthor” in Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited). Package art hasn’t been provided yet, but stay tuned
Ugh, I was hoping they wouldn’t do this. I hate it when smaller volumes are released instead of entire seasons. I guess WB is comfortable charging fans $20 for 8 episodes. :rolleyes:
Most American cartoons do this. Even Avatar did. I’m ok with it as long as they make a season boxed set when the season is over. I’d rather wait for that.
I find it odd as well that its going to be 8 episodes instead of 13 if they were planning on 13 episode story arcs though. I guess “book” 2 & 3 will have 9 episodes each. or 8 on the next and 10 on the last.
I’ll be absolutely shocked if they don’t dip into the blu-ray market with this… imo it wouldn’t make sense to just release standard definition material in todays market.
It’s not what I wanted. But it sounds decent. And the fact that it’s coming out October is a plus.
Atleast it isn’t like the horribe CN Volumes that have no additional content, come out over a year since the DVD’s episodes premiered and tend to contain less than 8 episodes.

No offense to everyone here especially as I like the new series and want to see it get the Season Set treatment but it’s not a wise idea to wait.
The thing is, WB will only see a demand for Thundercats season sets only if the Volume Discs sell. This isn’t being stingy, it’s business. Let me tell you know what happened with the rest of season 2 of Gargoyles.
When Disney said Part One of the Season 2 DVD didn’t sell that much, they really meant that and the sad truth is, the fans screwed themselves and this is coming from somebody who likes the show. Their thinking was that if they refuse to buy it, Disney will comply… except it backfired horribly.
All I ask for the fans to buy the volume discs for this show and ensure an actual season box set. Don’t we all want to see this show to do well especially in merchandising? Because I do!
