Well even the small one of Tygra made it as my new desktop on my computer. Gotta say he is hunkish so I’m happy. I’m just worried about the angsty vibe they seemed to give him in the write up. ‘Well the scientist was a looser…so lets make him an angsty brother!’ sureee..that will help.
BUT they all look very good. Cheetara’s top sketches make her look elven even…and the Cleric vibe to her? I can deal with that. sage nod

Some of my thoughts on the images.
-Shirtless Lion-O.. By Jaga, I can hear the fangirls for here…
-Those sketches of Kit putting up her hair are probably some of the most adorable things I have ever seen
-Slithe’s feet kinda scare me for some reason
-Snarf has a “Whacha talkin about, Willis” face and it is awesome
-Kit’s hair sketch can only be rivaled by Cheetara’s laugh face in the middle of her pic
-I really need to learn kanji…
Is it just me or in the top non-colored sketches where snarf is a little thinner…does he look kinda dragon-ish to anyone else?
Definitely! It would be interesting if he wore glasses…

Speaking of shirtless, shirtless Wilykat carrying a weed makes me think of Huck Finn.
I’m glad they put that, I couldn’t figure out why they were doing her hair in a ponytail but now it makes sense.
What is kanji?
He does have a dragon-esque curvature in those sketches. Considering anime is asian and dragons are part of asian lore, I could see how dragons could influence his art. Might be cool if Snarf could breathe fire, give him some kind of natural defense so he’s not just a simple, easy target like in the OS.
I just wanted to add, I don’t like the army green color of Tygra’s armor. I like the blue color of his regular clothes better. If they had to make him wear armor, I wish they could have stuck with blue. Lion-O’s looks nicer.
The arm armor interests me…
Tygra - right arm completely bare
Lion-O - right arm upper shielded
Tygra - left arm completely shielded
Lion-O - left arm complete bare except for when he wears the claw shield.
I wonder why Tygra has nothing on his right arm and I wonder why Lion-O’s upper left arm is not shielded.
And why is there no armor for Cheetara?
I also wanted to add that I think the pencil sketches of Tygra’s face makes him look a bit like Wolverine.
And I find it odd that Kat wears one glove. Is he Michael Jackson? I liked the bracelet things he wore in the original more.

Asian letters
I saw the Voltron pilot and thought it was very promising. It’s hard to say which will be better until I’ve seen both.
Guilty. I was so excited about new pics that I didn’t notice anything else. :eek:

This makes me smile.

What the heck?! Jelenic just needs to come to this board to know that’s not true. Plenty of Tygra fans here. Why in the world would he assume people didn’t like Tygra?

And then of course there’s a love triangle between those two and Cheetara. And Tygra wondering if he’s going to lose out to his brother again when it comes to love.”
So basically his way of trying to win fans for Tygra is to make him a pathetic, underrated character who is jealous of the true biological heir to the throne who happens to be the biological son of his adopted father, the King. :eek: Oooooookay? It does sound like a very interesting dynamic that will be chocked full of drama.
Sounds to me that both Tygra and Lion-O will be full of angst. I wonder how much that will annoy Panthro because his new character doesn’t come across as having much tolerance for angst.

Um… me. I never cared much for Cheetara. I liked Pumyra better than her.
Being an elite group of fighters under Jaga’s command, I’ll bet they have responsibilities regarding the omens items - book of omens, sword of omens, etc…
“She’s a counselor to Lion-O too. Where Lion-O doesn’t believe in himself, Cheetara is the one person on the team who knows what he’s capable of and pushing him towards his ultimate place on king. And because of it, Lion-O interprets a lot of her interest as affection. So we start seeing some possible romance between the two.”
I wonder where Tygra fits in then.
Regarding the Ro-Bear Berbils - I agree with Jelenic that they were ridiculous characters. I would be okay if they didn’t include them but he said they will be, so it’ll be interesting to see how they turn out.

It kinda annoyed me that he said both Panthro and Tygra were architects. That is completely incorrect. Tygra was an architect. Panthro was an engineer. One designed buildings. One made machines. Completely different.
Also that description of Tygra didn’t make him seem pathetic and underrated to me. It says everyone in the kingdom thinks he should’ve been king too. That he’s pretty much better than Lion-O in every way. It’s kinda like loosing a promotion at work to someone because he’s the bosses kid even tho everyone in the office knows you’re more experienced. I’d be a little upset if I were him too. But it also says he still loves Lion-O. He probably realizes that Lion-O might not even want to be the king.
That’s what I was thinking. Granted that at some level either profession might use aspects of the other, but they are two different degree fields.
I’m curious to see if they can maintain the fantasy and magic of the show as the Cats learn about and start using science and technology. I keep thinking of Lord of the Rings.

So first he says everyone thinks Tygra should be king but then it says they want Lion-O to be king. Which is it? Do they want Tygra or do they want Lion-O?

Sorry, I had been refering to the Japanese form of writing that’s all over the production images. Generally, such notes tend to have useful info in them.
I am a little worried now about Tygra. If he were playing the part of his brother’s keeper then it might atleast be funny. Not sure I’m going to enjoy them having a constant snubfest. They might need both boys to learn some humility quick.
I don’t know, there could be a comedic aspect to the two of them fighting if we see Panthro get annoyed with them over it.
I do see a potential in this plotline for some great drama between Lion-O and Tygra, if they do it well. If they do it poorly, then it’ll just annoy the audiences to no end. What I really hope they do is really show a maturity in Tygra. Pinning him as the jealous older adopted brother is redeemable. For example, in the Lord of the Rings films, they made Aragorn to where he didn’t want to return to Gondor and reclaim his throne. He had seen what power could do to men, he knew what it had done to his ancestors, and he did not want that authority or power.
They could bring Tygra to a mindset like that. In fact, considering Mumm-Ra is all about power, it could be a very cool moment if Tygra ever perceives that and does his own self-evaluation and if he sees his bitter, hard feelings and sees that similarity in Mumm-Ra, it could be a life changing moment for him to where he stops desiring to be king and finds inner peace and contentment with being who he is.
My first reaction was negative to what they wrote, but the more I dwell on it, the more possibilities I see to turn this into a great story. If they do it well.

It seems to me that Tygra has the love of the public, but by law he can’t be king and even tho the people might like him better they have to follow the law. So even though everyone likes him, he has it in his head that they chose someone less worthy and tries to prove them wrong.

Perhaps Jaga and the Nobles are all about Lion-O being Lord of the ThunderCats but the popular vote among the people is Tygra.
I’m glad that they said that. If it continues too long, I do think it’ll just annoy people. You can’t be around two people who don’t get along without getting completely annoyed with them after awhile.
As far at the love triangle is concerned, if I could write it out, this is how I’d do it…
Cheetara counsels and encourages Lion-O. For her kindness shown to him, Lion-O finds himself falling for Cheetara. Cheetara feels conflicted and not sure if she feels the same way towards him. Classic example of someone who is kind-hearted who feels frustrated when showing kindness to someone of the opposite gender is met with romantic interest where none was intended. So Cheetara really doesn’t know what she should do. But she’s single and as single people are, they usually desire to be in a relationship so part of her may desire it as well. But then she sees Tygra showing an interest in her and he is strong and powerful, older than Lion-O and very appealing. But Tygra has his issues and again, she’s not sure.
Tygra’s emotions are consuming him. Not only can he not become Lord of the ThunderCats, but now the woman he is interested in may also fall for Lion-O. Tygra’s self-esteem suffers.
Tygra finally gets to the point of finding that inner peace and in doing so, gives up everything he wanted so desperately - to be Lord of the ThunderCats and to also give up his desire for Cheetara.
He now has a new found confidence and inner peace and that attracts Cheetara to him. So when he gave her up, he found that she came back to him.
That’s how I’d play it out.
I like the characterdesign of Lion-o, tygra and the others…But I don´t like Cheetara ( I hat the old cheetara and the new too-.-)…I think we don´t need a love/roamnce story in thundercats, particularly not cheetara with one of the men -.- that sucks * to take shelter*
I like the cloths of lion-O and tygra.
I’m not sure I like the new Panthro. It could be because I loved the classic one coz he was a great blend of serious business and comic relief.
I’m keeping an open mind about it though. It’s hard to judge a character but just a few pictures.

I like it too. It actually looks to me like Tygra just got his pride hurt and isn’t trying to show how hurt he feels. Just an observation.
To me it looks like he’s smelling yummy food. Obviously it wasn’t my cooking. LOL
So our fears were true and Tygra will be jealous of Lion-O.
I just hope during the series he grows up enough to accept things. But if he loses Cheetara to Lion-O, I’ll get mad at them
And Balgus’ right! What’s with Tygra and Panthro being bpth architects? Dis that person ever watch the show? And his skill-set blending to Panthro’s? And he being no one favorite? Nothing true in any of that.
Looking at the images of Wilykit, I wonder if they’re going to have her character have a crush on Lion-O.
