I lost at least around half a dozen MOTUC figures through International Post, which was mostly due to the customs stealing them. Back then Express was way more pricey than Post. I pretty much stopped shipping things directly to my address since then. I use a single service for parcel forwarding for shipping items from US, UK and sometimes Japan.
Subscription purchased - very much looking forward to receiving all five figures!
These figures will end up being the best thundercats figures ever made if the line does not get cancelled. I would love to see a young jaga & ratilla two pack with the treasure of thundera and sword of plundar. After all if that battle never took place the whole thundercats story would be different. Defiantly the most defining moment in thundercats history.

Considering how awesome the MOTU line has been, I have really high hopes for this line. I just hope it proves successful.
It has the potential. 
Today I was moving some of my MOTU figures around, and was standing back thinking about how I never imagined this line would actually make it through to completion. I have a bunch of the vintage figures, the commemorative figures, the new series figures, and the Classics line and it’s just a real sight to behold. Now I ponder if ThunderCats could become the next. Originally I never imagined we would get so many outstanding MOTU figures, and yet here they are. I really hope to look back in a few years and say the exact same with with the ThunderCats.
I am not a MOTU collector but I echo your sentiments about the potential of the Thundercats line. I collect the vintage line as well as the Bandai.line. Now that I have officially subbed for Mattel I can only imagine how awesome it can be to have them all displayed together. Truly a sight to behold!
Yeah it would be absolutely awesome to have the whole line of TC. Man I’ve got goosebumps just thinking about it. I really hope this works out. I love the sculps we’ve seen thus far, and hope more are revealed in February during Toyfare.
I read an interesting piece the other day on a blog by someone who collected all of the MOTUC except for 4 figures. And in the piece he described how he got into the line with Scareglow and ended up collecting them. But said that as he looks at the collection now and how out of all the characters produced there is over $1,300 (not counting postage) of figures that had they been at retail he would not have even purchased and plans on selling all the unwanted characters.
When I started collecting MOTU classics, I went into it fully expecting to have to get some figures I wouldn’t have bought if they were out at retail. I was ok with it because there was so much more I really wanted. I actually liked many of the concept and obscure characters they were releasing. I thought it was a bold move to attempt to produce such an expansive line. With that came a lot of bumps in the road along the way and hopefully Matty will have a different approach with T-cats. I know a lot of collectors were put off by some a the choices Matty made in putting a figure out. They got a little too excited with putting out every figure that appeared in anything MOTU related they got ahead of themselves. If they spread out the next few years with A and B list characters and really listen to the fanbase they can make a line up of figures that people will buy up and not feel like it’s full of filler. I think they should really utilize fan polling to get a grasp on what to make going forward after the main cast is close to being produced. We hope that all the costs related to getting the rights will prevent them from making the same mistakes and they will put out a Thundercats line we can all be proud to have on our shelves.
I agree. Now is the time Mattel should be putting up a poll this year to find out who they should be including in the 2017 line up. Personally I think they should just stick to the LJN toys and the dozen or so from the cartoon that never had a figure.
I think just working from a single cartoon (which seems to be all they have the rights to) rather than drawing characters from four toylines, four cartoons, minicomics and concept drawings will work in their favour. There are certainly a lot less Thundercats characters that need to be done in order for the line to feel reasonably ‘complete.’
I think most of us feel that the MUST-do characters, the bare minimum to produce without seeming like a failure, are Lion-O, Cheetara, Tygra, Panthro, WilyKat, WilyKit, Snarf, Jaga, Mumm-Ra, S-S-Slithe, Monkian, Jackalman, and Vultureman. (13 characters).
To have greater ambition, though, they probably also need to aim for the three ‘new’ Thundercats, the six Lunataks, and important supporting characters (mostly any recurring ones, but there are a few iconic one-offs) - Hachiman, Snowman, Willa, Mandora, Hammerhand, Driller, Ratar-O… you get the idea.
If they do all of those and there’s still a hunger for more, then they should definitely continue with the more obscure characters, but I think starting reasonably modestly is a good idea.
Being harsh in my thinking about who needs to fit into the second group, I think I can get my wishlist down to about 40 characters, which is less than three full years’ subscriptions-worth. I think barring misfortune, that’s pretty doable, and certainly looks possible compared to the MOTUC 200 or so.
Yeah 40 characters or so is definitely doable. Like you said the main dozen then others etc. Some cartoon characters like Claudus, Lunatacks, Jaguara etc to finish off the line. Characters like Wollos, Bulkins, Molemen and Unicorn Keepers (as much as I love the episode they first appeared it) I really don’t think they are top of anyone’s priority list. Regardless of the poor decisions MOTUC made in fairness I can honestly imagine the figures they made being sold as toys originally. But I really cant say the same for those Thundercats characters I mentioned.
I couldn’t agree more. Too many lines have stopped short of producing all of the core characters. That should be the initial goal. After that I would be thrilled to continue on with reoccurring favorites from the cartoon!
Here is a rough list of characters. The original LJN line with some carton characters that never got made. Not counting variats, 2/multi packs or vehicles there is 54 characters. I really can’t imagine any other characters that people would really want or would even be worthwhile to produce as a toy. They should be able to do all of them in 3-4 years especially if some characters are sold in double/multi packs.

I would be thrilled to see this line continue for 3+ years, getting 40-50 characters! That would be incredible! There are few brands that I would be committed to doing a subscription for, but Thundercats certainly qualifies!
Call me weird but I would also like Quickpick and Wizzra. If they got far enough Zaxx, Pyron and as Enflamer would be nice too. I am sure there are many more I would like if I thought more about it.
There are some I would like such as King Arthur, Brodo, Trologs and Giantors but realistically I don’t see them being made or a lot of interest in them.
I would add Enflamer to the list as he was awesome in both appearances and would be a pretty easy make for Mattel. Just a new head with the standard body and arms moulded in yellow with a translucent flame lower piece attachment.
