Yeah, it’s good to know that we’re pretty much guaranteed to get these five figures at least.
What the number of subbers (and later, the number of day of sale buyers) will affect is whether or not the line continues and in what form. The bigger the audience, the more stuff we can get!
For TC fans that never followed the MOTUC subs, at their height they grew to offer:
A whole year of monthly figures plus the subscription exclusive (13 regular figures)
Four extra quarterly toys; usually one variant regular figure and three larger toys. These larger ones could be an oversize figure, a steed, or even a two-pack.
There were also out-of-sub items each year, too: an SDCC toy (which could be a single figure or a toy pack), a travelling convention exclusive (usually a regular figure), a chase figure (a very annoying regular figure that only popped up on the website for brief periods every year) and an end-of-year holiday item, which could be something as big as a vehicle or playset.
Hopefully if this year’s five figures sell well, we will see AT LEAST the thirteen regular figures for 2017, and possibly something like the quarterly offerings so we can get characters like Snowmeow. Fingers crossed!
Yeah when September sale arrives Mattel really needs to highlight Lion-O so that non-subscribers including collectors who weren’t even aware of the line will choose to purchase it on impulse.
Since I already got my subscription confirmed, I might even attempt to purchase him on the sale date just to have an extra one.
There are surely lot of possibilities for 2017 in terms of figures being offered beyond the 13 regular figures. I am also hoping we get a two pack or 4 pack of Berbils, with Ro-Bear-Bill and others. Snowmeow could end up being sooner than later, if they use to tweak the existing mold from Battle Cat/Panthor.
But is there any possibility that Mattel will surprise fans by offering an exclusive figure at SDCC 2016 in July? Jaga in spirit form would be most ideal.
I don’t think so. One has to be present at the event to collect it. But remaining stock might get offered on the site later on. It’s only then subscribers will get Early Access to purchase it before the non-subscribers get to buy it.
Just checked the subscription page again. They mention Early Access from September. So if there is a SDCC figure sale on the site, technically 2016 subscribers are not entitled for Early Access in July.

This means that people could miss out on figures. Too bad for us overseas who can’t be there. I will really be upset if that will be the case with the kittens. I don’t mind if it is something like ghost Jaga. I can live without it. I know most fans would love that. I would rather have the kittens than a ghost Jaga. As long as the exclusive isn’t a main cat or mutant. I would die a 1000 deaths if it is someone like Bengali.
I really hope and pray that this line is a success. It has been years in the making. I would have really liked to have 2 subs to get 2 figures but it is a bit costly and by then the currency would probably be worse off.
To have TC figures arrive and you open the parcel would feel like I am a kid again on Christmas morning.
Yeah he had a habit of saying one thing then changing it and quite frankly making some very odd decisions and saying the wrong things.
He really did not do himself any favours pleading for more subscriptions for the MOTUC figures.
How are International customers getting their subs?
I ask as i only get 2 options on the subs page: International Express (1-2 weeks) or International Postal (3-5 weeks)
Problem is neither are a trackable service & Mattys website clearly states “Please note that International Post is not a trackable shipping method. Lost or stolen shipments using this method will not be refunded.”
As a Newbie to the subs process & living in England its quite a concern that i may end up paying for 2 subs that will never arrive & i can do nothing about.
I may be wrong but I do think that the International Express has tracking. The other one doesn’t. I think the Express option is a courier service like DHL and that will have tracking. It is one downside not to be able to track figures especially shipment coming to South Africa. Our postal services strike more than what they are working. Meaning that it delay packages and it can also get lost. The express is a bit pricey though but the best option I think.
I for one will not know if a figure is faulty because I won’t be opening mine although the urge will be there.
Totally. Though I would prefer Grune as a standalone figure as a baddie rather than as a ThunderCat for his first release.
Jaga and Grune as a two pack could end up being in the $70 or $80 price range for SDCC, which means non-attendees will have to pay over $100 on eBay if they are not offered on site. Hence I am leaning towards a single figure for SDCC instead.
Were you able to get your order through? Perhaps you needed to re-check all your address fields to proceed to the next screen.
Adam, you’re better off going with the Express option.
$71.89 - International Post (3 to 5 Weeks) - No Tracking
$62.49 - International Express (1 to 2 Weeks) - Tracking option not mentioned, but most likely to be included.
I don’t understand Matty’s pricing. Is International Express shipping actually cheaper, if yes why would anyone want to choose International Post, more importantly why is it even listed as a option? At least this is the case with shipping to Great Britain.
I’ve used International Post a LOT over the last 6 years and I’ve never lost a single package from MattyCollector (I’m in the UK too) I can’t speak for IP delivery to other countries though. The Express shipping is indeed DHL and does include tracking. If your going for the single shipment in December then DHL is a no brainer as I believe it’s not much dearer than International Post! Also DHL is VERY fast and deliveries usually only take 3-5 days! :eek: so you should definately get your figures in time for Christmas
If I go for my planned 2 subs, I will likely go with the single ship Express option
Yes they do require you to send a faulty item back and they do pay for returns and they are done via FedEx. Don’t worry if you don’t have a FedEx office near you, as you can arrange for FedEx to pick up your parcel. I had to return a MOTUC figure in 2014 for a replacement
I think some people choose IP because since it’s not tracked it can sometimes ‘slip’ through customs without getting import fees slapped on the parcel. Personally I think it’s not worth the risk on a large figure shipment and it’s just easier to eat the import fees At least you get peace of mind knowing where your stuff is.
As for Matty offering International Post (despite DHL being cheaper) I think it’s just a standard set up to save them listing multiple prices or options depending on the destination. There is also the fact that same places either don’t do DHL delivery or have problems receiving it due to their countries weird import rules!

Best get saving now so i don’t get hit too hard at Christmas, my wifes already unhappy i spent £60 on some minimates yesterday, buying tickets to LFCC & i still have 2 subs to make this weekend lol :snarf
