I agree with all you said except for the Lunatacks…believe me the thought of getting articulated Lunatacks…or Lunatacks in general really does not interest me.
Another fan mentioned this on the Replica Prop Forum. He chose monthly and he was charged $76.60. $30 for the club exclusive, $30 for the subscription, $11.59 S&H, $5.01 Tax.
Matty shouldn’t have charged shipping until the Mumm-Ra figure shipped. Also the subscription fee is actually the cost of Mumm-Ra figure (club exclusive) itself, they shouldn’t be charging that separately.
Matty messed up. I guess the ones who chose single shipment are lucky. Are there anyone here who chose monthly and was charged only $30?
I went with the monthly option and I can confirm I was only charged the $30 plus tax.

I did one monthly subscription and was charged $30 (well, the authorization for $30 is pending, I haven’t had anything come out of my account yet). My shopping cart all through the checkout showed $30 + $30 + shipping ($71.something), but after I placed the order, the fine-print on the order confirmation page said I would only be charged the subscription fee… even though all the totals looked like it was $71. Weirdest online checkout I’ve had. Happy to see only one charge for $30 on the bank’s side.

Yeah, it’s the same deal - us monthly subbers have the sub fee, the price of the first figure and the shipping for that first figure in our basket, but we only get charged for the $30 fee right now.
It’s the stupidest, most confusing system, and god knows how many first-time subbers are put off cause they have no one to explain it to them.

Thanks for confirming that everyone. So I think all are getting charged only $30+, but their display of total is bound to confuse buyers.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one! It did make me pause. $71 is quite a bit different than $30. If I had been on the fence, that would have at least made me put off my decision and not order today. But, being a die-hard TC fan, I just started working on the speech for my wife. Glad I don’t need to use it! Write that down and save it for next time

Haha yeah; I remember my first MOTUC sub and saying “WHAAAAAT?” Hopefully all the people who decide against the sub are doing it because they don’t want to and not because they mistakenly think they have to pay everything now.

I think there’ll be a first influx of subbers today, and then we can expect most of the people who are on the fence to wait until after toyfair to decide one way or the other.
Hopefully they should at least have near-production copies of Lion-O and Jackalman, as well as a physical version of Mumm-Ra and our first looks at Pumyra and Panthro.

The December shipment would be the first shipment and impossible to change without contacting Matty. However it is possible to sort it once you get your new card in time for the December charge and shipment 
You will pay more per figure for definate. Remember Mumm-Ra is a sub ONLY figure and will NEVER be offered for sale again! Expect to pay at least £60 on eBay for him at first and then MUCH more later. Just do a search on eBay for MOTUC Shadow Weaver Unless you only want Lion-O and Panthro (or 2/4 figures) then subscribing is still the best option. Just save and put away £15 per month.

Are you doing auto renewal?
I don’t remember if I chose the check box for Auto Renewal. I probably did as I want to do subscription every year.
But I am guessing we can change it after the first shipment, which will be in December for me.
I plan on subbing later tonight and didn’t even know that was an option. Thanks for brining it to my attention!

As well as charge the $30, they do also pre-authorize the rest of the order to make sure those funds are available on your card. It means those total funds will be reserved on your card (usually no more than 2-3 days) and then the $30 for Mumm-Ra will be the only charge that goes through. That could be what this person is experiencing. Your much better off using a credit card rather than a debit card.
Thanks blackiecats, that makes sense. But even the pre-authorization for rest of the amount should actually happen only 5 days before shipping, as that’s what Matty stated on their page. It’s pre-authorization on their end, but the buyer is getting fully charged during this initial subscription process right away. Even if the amount is reversed after few days, buyers are going to feel the pinch and confusion now.

It’s done to make sure your card is good when comes time to charge and ship the monthly figures from September. I know because I’ve subbed to MOTUC since 2013 By the way sent you a friend request on FB as I noticed you via Michael

Not saying it isn’t true, but remember this is from the guy who said one thing and then another happened during his time with MOTUC. I say if you want the figures then sub to get your exclusive Mumm-Ra. Only sub if you really want them though and not out of any obligation from being a fan

Thanks, Scott’s comments definitely puts me more at ease. If there is no minimum quota for subs on their end, the line for 2016 will surely come through all the way. Still certain sales quota needs to be met for Mattel if they want to continue this line for few more years.
Yes, if true it is nice to know that we do not have to worry about the line being cancelled do to a minimum. I am hoping that there is plenty of support to carry this line for quite some to though!
