I say bring 'em on! I’m really enjoying this show (didnt like ‘Legacy’) and I’m looking forward to all future episodes. I think the guys behind Thundercats did an amazing job sofar and will continue to do so. Some episodes are better than others, but I think there is something for everyone; old (school) fans, new fans. All in all:
Yes, but so far that’s the impression I get the producers want to create in the audience, and thin this series mythology.
There have definitely been hints that Tygra may lean towards the dark side. First, there’s the tension he has with Lion-O being king instead of him. Then there’s Tygra’s relationship with Grune, someone Tygra aspired to be like and who seemed to like him as well. And then there’s what Matthew Mercer said about Tygra at the ThunderCon panel, about him having similarities to the villains. And we’ve already mentioned his ancestor Tygus being loyal to Mumm-Ra. I do wonder how loyal Tygus was, since he didn’t put up much resistance when the War Stone was taken from him. I think the least that could happen is that Tygra will be tempted at some point, probably by Grune. I doubt Tygra will turn though; Mumm-Ra did kill his adoptive father after all.
That made me think: what if Tygra later discovers that Grune killed his biological parents as well, and that’s why he always tried have him by his side? That would be a twist!
If there’s one thing I’d really like to see explored, it’s the relationship between Tygra and Grune. That flashback in Old Friends made me think that Grune was grooming Tygra to stand by his side when he eventually took the throne by force (maybe as his heir?), but Claudus sending him away got in the way of that plan.
That’s the impression I got as well.
Or maybe he just wanted to create some friction between the brothers right from childhood, so they will be weaker separated when he tried to usurp the throne. You know, divide and conquer.
I think I’m in the minority when it comes to Grune. I didn’t interpret his ambition as evil. At least not at first. He just had high dreams. I mean he helped save Claudus’s life in one of the flashbacks. It would’ve been easier to let him die and usurp the throne from a young Lion-O if that was all he was after. Grune’s defection was a gradual thing. He got turned down for positions he wanted and deserved and then got sent on what he perscieved as a wild goose chase. Then consider the years and years he was out in the wild with Panthro trying to survive. He lost hope. He wasn’t as strong as Panthro. And Mumm-Ra used his faults to turn him. I mean even when he turned to Mumm-Ra his first instinct wasn’t to betray Panthro. He tried convincing Panthro to join them. Then when Panthro said no that was the final betrayal (to him) and he totally went bad.
So my point is that I don’t believe that, at that time, he had an ulterior motive and was simply giving a kid he liked some advise.
Mm, I can see that side as well. I actually like Grune quite a lot and think he’s one of the more interesting characters on the show, and I don’t believe he’s evil through and through. For example, I think he really did (does?) have fond feelings for Panthro and Tygra, and I doubt Panthro would get so close to a rotten fiend. But… he did talk about wanting to become king, and he did tell Tygra that if you want something, you should take it if you’re strong enough, even if you don’t have the right to that thing. So while I don’t necessarily think he had some evil plan to murder Claudus, I think that he spent a lot of time thinking that if the opportunity ever appeared…
And so he shared his views with Tygra, maybe because he saw himself and his own unfair situation in him and wanted him to understand that he shouldn’t have to settle, or maybe because he wanted this kid he really cared about to understand and not hate him (maybe even agree with him?) if Grune ever sat on a throne he didn’t really have the right to according to Thunderian law of succession, having taken it because he wanted it and because he was strong enough.
Bleh, I have a lot of thoughts, but I can’t seem to express them properly right now.
Don’t tell me they’re going the Harry Potter route in this one! Sheesh! :eek:
I wonder about that. I’m curious to see if this episode is going to end up with Cheetara learning some more magic along with Lion-O learning something as well.

also episode 14’s title was changed from what was on the leaked episode list from “lost causes” to “new alliances.”

We have every reason to believe Tygra has any romantic interest in Cheetara because the show’s creators have told us as much. They told us there would be a love triangle with both Lion-O and Tygra being interested in Cheetara. Furthermore, the voice actor for Tygra has been quoted as referring to this as well. (Can’t remember the exact quote at the moment or I’d be more detailed.)
Sound like Forest of the Magic Oar - like they’re going to find a magic canoe for this magic oar. 
The title makes me think that someone will journey into the Book of Omens again. Not sure, just a thought. Or maybe Jaga will finally start appearing to Lion-O? Or are they not going to do that at all this time around?
Well initially the title of the episode before was “Into the Astral Plane Part 1.” So I think it’s a safe assumption that this is a conclusion of the episode before. Perhaps the episode before will be a cliff hanger with Tygra leaving the group and in this one, Tygra and Lion-O make amends and reuinte. Just a thought.
I meant as far as the episodes we’ve already seen. I know he will develop interest in her, but that because I’ve read the spoilers from the producers, not because of anything that happened on the show. So to presume the next episode will bring up the love triangle seems a bit premature, but who knows.
The stone they’re trying to get is the Spirit Stone. It’s not inside the book of omens. Remember how Lion-O saw the stone with the sword, but when he went there they didn’t see it? It’s there, but it’s on the astral plane. spirit stone~astral plane get it?
11-13 are all continuations of each other I think. they find the elephants, the elephants tell them to go to the forrest, then they’ll go and come back to the elephants to get the stone. 13 is the finale on the current group of episodes.
That sounds legit regarding teh continuation. Well.. Rather it makes the most sense.
Yep, this is what I was thinking as well and figured everyone else was thinking as well. It’s basically a pseudo multi-part episode for the most part focusing on the acquisition of the spirit stone.

hmmm… does this mean the rest of the team isn’t there during the fight against Mumm-Ra? I wonder…
anyway I kinda hope Mumm-Ra gets the stone. raise the stakes a little and at the same time give Lion-O and Tygra a lesson about how they’ll loose if they don’t work through their issues.
