how did he whine when cheetara chose tygra over him?.. he was simply shocked thinking that all the signals she was supposedly sending him , that she was into him. claudus didn’t even have faith in liono who was to be the future king. i do remember back in the pilot episode when claudus and every body else believed tygra was best fit for king than liono. Jaga really didn’t bother much with liono besides telling him to never stop believing in himself. i don’t want to start an argument, im just saying that in their situation now as a big brother tygra should be more sympathetic towards liono.
Now I have to disagree with you there. Claudus very clearly defended Lion-O at that celebration dinner with Grune. He said, and I quote, “Lion-O also will make a great king.”
And on top of that he accepted Lion-O’s decision to free the Lizards that were held prisoner.
That hardly sounds like someone who has no faith in their son. He just wanted Lion-O to act more responsible.
How many times will the Claudus/Lion-O thing be brought to attention and then shot down? All things considered, they had a normal parent/child relationship. Our parents want the best for us. Lots of parents doubt teenagers really know whats best for them, and so when they see their children stumbling , parents will crack down. Mine sure did. It’s because they love you. Oh and just to toss it out there, most teens are not promised a freaking country. So Claudus might have felt the need to make sure Lion-O was prepared.
Lion-O needs to be around people who question his orders. Like the others have said, he wont grow without some sort of resistance. People need to be called out on their mistakes, otherwise they’ll probably fail to see the mistakes as mistakes.
And just so I’m caught up to speed, in what way is lion-O being punished ? Last I checked he still had his sword, the stone , the crown and the loyalty of the Thundercats.
We all have the right to state our opinions. I cant imagine how someone on this board would try and take that right away from you. That doesn’t mean other posters cant express why they think you are “wrong”, or challenge why they think your opinion was illogically formed.
Why do the other characters constantly point out Lion-O’s mistakes instead of praising him for appropriate actions? 
I’ve been rewatching the episodes today and they really don’t rub his mistakes in his face like everyone is saying. They usually argue with him before he makes a bad decision, not scold him afterwards (with Tygra possibly being an exception to that).

C’mon! Tygra is just 19 (only 2 years older than Lion-o, btw), and he has been spoiled like a prince all his life. Plus the double mourning and grief I already mentioned. Can you really expect that much of him?

Claudus was very supportive to Lion-o in the first episode; maybe he would have wanted Lion-o to be different, but he never quit supporting him. He had final encouraging and love words for him, which he never had for Tygra. All Claudus had for Tygra him was saying to Lion-o “why can’t you be more like Tygra?” or something like that, which is not necessarily the same as “Tygra is my favorite and should be king”, only that Claudus saw some abilities in Tygra that he thought would help Lion-o to be an even better king.
They do praise him in the new episodes…you have to watch them. They get angry, frustrated, and/or indifferent with his hasty decisions, but thats part of his learning process. No one is perfect at 17…and when your a king at 17? Come on. Really? He’s a silly,goofy, but inquisitive teenager who has been watching his father, and became the king at an early age. It was literally dropped in his lap. He thought his father would live forever, remember?
In the end, in most of the episodes, he learns his lesson(s), and he becomes understanding of what he did wrong, and usually Tygra, Cheetara, or the others praise him.
Like when Tygra said “Father would be proud of you today”…blah blah blah…
Point is- he gets praises. Eventually. The makers of the show are doing a great job portraying his transition into A MAN.
Like others have been saying about this new version…its great (I think so, anyway) because its more REALISTIC to what many of us today go through as we grow up and have responsibilities. I keep re-watching clips from the OS , and I point out things I dont like already, and laugh. While I will always genuinely love the OS, straight away these thundercats have bulldozers…flying around on space boards…space ships…OUTER SPACE…I mean, really?
I like how the NS has a more realistic approach with the Origin of the TC. They started out with rocks and sticks…and now there is lazers and machines…and I am sure eventually they will discover space ships. But the reality of adolescence into adulthood transitions, love triangles, drama, developing friendships, and even the re-design of the charachters themselves (thank you, Lord, for putting more clothes on the men, LOL!)…its a lot more fun to watch as we can relate a little more with this show!
All in all…my opinions. Love the NS!
Lion-o is not in the 2nd grade . He is not going to fall apart because he got some tough love . It’s not like he never gets praise or encouragment . Cheetara has done little else but positive reinforcement for the last 13 episodes . Tygra and Panthro have voiced their concerns when they thought Lion-o was leading the group in the wrong direction . So what ? You think Lion-O would sit down and listen with an open mind ? Or pull rank to get everyone to follow his orders ? We’ve seen the 2nd multiple times .
What kind of show are you asking for ? Everyone follow lion-o and no tension at all ? Personally I would find that dreadfully boring .
Lion-o is not some weak flimsy little boy . He is not going to lay on the floor and bang his head into walls because he didn’t get the girl and tygra yelled at him .
Besides from what I can tell from the spoilers, he’s probably acting brash because he’s upset which is ok. It also means everyone would be right to question his choices.
They question Lion-O’s decisions because he’s inexperienced and constantly makes bad decisions…
i know this already but my concern was that since the other thundercats are more experienced, they can help teach him a few things to make him a better leader/king. a great leader that makes good decisions based on the situation at hand. like everyone keeps mentioning, liono is 17 and that’s why i believe he should be taught instead of letting him make bad decisions just to call him out on it.
I don’t know if I would say they’re “letting” him make bad decisions. They try very hard to talk him out of the bad decisions. But ultimately the final decision is his and he seems intent to learn everything the hard way instead of listening to everyone that has more experience.
Exactly. Also, try not to forget that mistakes can be the greatest teacher of all. Have faith that Lion-O WILL start learning from his and grow into the wise and thoughtful leader we all expect him to be.

I like that in the NS, Lion-O isn’t overusing the “HOooooooo” word every time he needs the sword.
If you look at some of the OS shows…Lion-O gets a little carried away…LOL! Especially when he uses the sword like its a machine gun!
“HOOOO,…Hooooo…HOoooo. HOOOOOoooooooooooooooo!”

One more: I like in the NS that they have their own colored eyes…OS everyone has BRIGHT ORANGE orbs for eyes. Except for maybe Bengali. Drove me nuts!
Well really I think that was because most big cats have golden eyes in real life.
Frankly, it was something the original series didn’t do nearly enough. As unique an idea it was to have Lion-O as a child in a man’s body…nothing was ever done with it in any meaningful capacity.
I like Lion-O as the young archetypal prince who must grow into maturity and I haven’t seen any behavior that was out of line. Panthro being initially skeptical of Lion-O was downright refreshing and made perfect sense.
well put…i like the new lion-o too. It makes better sense than how the OS Lion-O started out. Alot of things in the OS didn’t make sense to me anyway,…but back then, everyone was so fixed on OUTER SPACE…and weird outerspace technolgy, flying, space aliens, pods, time travel, etc. Mixing it with thundercats…or mutant human/cats…was just, well, oh what the heck do I know! ultimately its what everyone wanted to see!!!:rolleyes:
the NS origins of the thundercats, being on a different plant (3rd earth) and starting out very much like us humans did (swords, armor, castles, etc) is more realistic. Way to go! I like to see that!
Oh, well. 
I guess people will appreciate the closeness to reality as the new series seems to portray for most people. (Still remembering 80’s style imagination imagines posters saying, “Go watch the originals then!”)
Anyway, Cheetara giving Lion-O positive reinforcement, as another poster mentioned (chique?), is one way to put it, although I call it something else. 
remember, LOL, in the episode where Cheetara walks up to Lion-O trying to make the sword work, and the kittens come in and start making fun of the two…Lion-O says, “We were trying to…make my sword work!”:o or something like that…

Im not knocking it, the NS has definately made me laugh, in a good way! I wouldn’t ask for them to change anything! its just too funny! Im sure they meant for kids to not pick that up, and for adults to probably take it for whatever it is at the moment! I couldn’t help it!..LOL:sneaky:
I gotta say, out of every reboot/redo of a property I’ve seen, I think this one has been done the best so far. Even better than the He-Man reboot years ago (2002, I think?)
