As you all know, the 2011 series has taken its liberty in altering the characters we knew in the 80’s. So now i’m wondering, how will they handle Mumm-Rana and/or the Lunataks? If they even use them at all
I don’t recall too much of the original series (i don’t think i even watched it that much), but as i read, Mumm-Rana is something of a good reflection of Mumm-Ra, and since Mumm-Ra was basically ancient evil on Third Earth, I guess that worked. But now that we know that this version of Mumm-Ra is an alien (if only to a degree), how will that work this time? For example, since Mumm-Ra’s pyramid is actually a space station, that means Mumm-Rana’s White Pyramid has to be one too, right? However, since Mumm-Ra is pretty scary looking and has demon wings, i can picture Mumm-Rana being beautiful and having angel wings.
As far as the Lunataks go, again, i don’t remember a lot about the original series, but as i recall, the Lunataks were old enemies of Mumm-Ra’s but were released by him in order to help destroy the Thundercats. Considering the route this show is going, i’m guessing if the Lunataks won’t just be “out of the blue” villains like they were before and will actually be villains in their own right. I personally see them as an invading force that threatens Third Earth some time after Mumm-Ra’s apparent defeat (or more likely, while he is regaining his power to rise again)
Huge NO to Mumm-Rana being in the new show from me. I only ever saw her as a good guy female Mumm-Ra, which I saw as lazy. There are many other characters from the original series that would be better fits and more deserving of some kind of a reboot (Mandora, Machiman, Snowman, Turmagar, Warrior Maidens, etc.).
I would be in full favor of The Lunatacs getting in on the action though. That’d be kind of sweet.
I’d like for Mumm-Rana to have as much developement as Pumyra did and she would be Mumm-Ra’s goody-goody sister with angel wings. Also, I think the Lunatacs will come into the picture when the Lizards and other enemies are out of the way.
in my defense for Mumm-Rana, it would be nice if the Thundercats had their own safety net against Mumm-Ra. You know, someone they could turn to should they need something to effect Mumm-Ra directly. Who better to ask for help in handling Mumm-Ra than a being who is his exact opposite in every single way?
Mumm-rana is a big No for me. I never did care for her. The Lunatacs on the other hand would be awesome after the current storyline is fully completed.
well this is something i noticed, may be nothing but it made me think. The Lunataks in the OS originated each from a different moon of Plundarr. In birth of the blades before Mumm-Ra destroys the Plundarr solar system, he is told there are 3 types of life forms living out there and he said there were of no importance and spoke as if he knew of who they were. In the OS, the Lunataks were old enemies of Mumm-Ra’s. Both are knowing of a previous existence of beings coming from an area with the name Plundarr, that Mumm-Ra does not care for. For all we know there were people from the planets that were off world at the time of its destruction and came back wanting revenge on the one who destroyed their home i.e. Mumm-Ra. Again could be nothing but i thought it could have been an interesting little thing they did and possibly a bit of hidden foreshadowing, or i at least hoped.
I think the Lunataks , along with Bengali and Lynxo were probably planned to appear in the new show at some point , and as you know it by now , they would get a big revamp , and backstory we just need the next season to get a green light for that to happen
yea could be since they used to work along side him back then, or could simply be his enemy showin up wanting to destroy him and either enslave the planet the he calls home or destroy the planet that he calls home. That could cause the Lunataks and Thundercats and Mumm-Ra to all enemies.
I liked Mumm-Rana as my favourite minor good-guy, but now when I hear her dialogue I cringe, cos it sounds so…obvious. Best adjective I could think of.
You know, in light of the recent development in WLA part 2, maybe Mumm-Rana could be the one who sees the last bit of Pumyra’s original soul and actively tries to bring it out (or at least inform Lion-O that some of the Cat he loved is still there). Who better to help the Cats rectify this situation then the very antithesis of Mumm-Ra?
Also, call me out on being Mary Stu-ish if you must, i would see at as a nice shift from the OS if this time, Mumm-Rana was actually more powerful than Mumm-Ra (to the point where Mumm-Ra regards her as the only one he fears)
And as a side note, since Mumm-Ra takes the form of a hawk/crow whatever, when he travels. It would be a nice contrast for Mumm-Rana to take the same approach, only as a dove. I can see her watching over TCats in dove form and saying something like “Good luck, Thundercats”
we just need the next season to get a green light for that to happen
