I don’t know, although I could see them as entertainers, or perhaps bards, who defend their frog village on Third Earth.
I could definitely see that because I always thought Mandora seemed out of place in the original series, and thought she’d fit in better with the SilverHawks.
Their ages would play an important role, if the production team decided to keep them in present Third Earth.
LOL Yeah, that’s quite true, they’d have to rename Blue Grass’s guitar to avoid offending anybody, which to be honest is just going overboard. While we’re on the subject about the SilverHawks making an appearance, I’m wondering how they’ll look like, moreso, this has me wondering how the Copper Kid is going to sound like when and if he talks, considering the vocal processing used in the series.
It just hit me, but Walro from TigerSharks could basically be a Tuska. Just from seeing those three shark men, they’re obviously no longer humans that turn into fish humanoids. I think it’s a good decision.
I managed to scrounge up an episode of TigerSharks on the internet. I don’t think it’s nearly as good as TC or SH. It’s even goofier and lacks the epicness of it’s sister series. Still, I think the heroes and T-Ray have some pretty cool designs. I’d love to see an episode where the Cats aid the TigerSharks fight T-Ray.
I wonder if they’ll actually be called the TigerSharks though. Now that they’re their own species of animal people, that means that they an interspecies team, unlike the Cats who are all one species. You’ve got the fish like humanoids like Mako, Angel, and Bronc, but then there’s Octavia who’s an octopus, a walrus, and then two toothed cetaceans (dolphin and orca whale). I guess undersea people are more progressive than the surface ones. I wonder if they’re in any way related to the fish men of episode 3. I assume that those guys were freshwater fish and the TigerSharks are salt water.
Very cool! I especially liked how the bird-like creatures that we saw there were practically dead-on for a race Ocelli and I created for our story: the Avians.
The Avians were a race of bird people that had liberated the Plun-Darrian gladiatorial slave pit where Ocelli, Xendara and Felina all happened to be held. They then took those refugees to their home planet to live there in a small colony, subsequently becoming the “Lost Children of Thundera.”
They would have become the first major allies of the Thunderians, fighting together for the first time when a Mutant cruiser attacks Avia’s capital city. The scene itself would have been a homage to one of my favorite movies, Flash Gordon (In fact, for the role of the Avian leader King Falconer, we had always imagined the actor who had played Vultan in the movie, Brian Blessed, in the role. And we wrote the character for him.) Other notable Avians would have been Viceroy Peregrine and Falconer’s son, Prince Hawken.

Yeah. I always got the impression that maybe TCats, Silverhawks and TigerSharks could have taken place in the same universe. There was a lot of potential for crossovers, I thought. A shame they never got to realize it. R/B could have had their own little universe to play around in like Marvel and DC do.

The band Coheed & Cambria also used the name Mon-Star for the virus that the character of Coheed is infected with, and can make him powerful enough to drain the energy of the Keywork (I’ve been a fan of theirs for a while, and its part of this complex story of theirs that spans all their albums. It’s complicated). I always wondered if Claudio Sanchez used the name as a reference to SilverHawks?

Is it just me or are you guys more excited about the SilverHawks & Tigersharks, then the Thundercats show itself? These two shows have so much potential if done properly, unlike in the 80’s (they were way too similar to TCats). Maybe we can start a petition and get new series of the two, but I guess that would take away from the TCats fanbase
I wasn’t questioning Tygus’ loyalty, or Tygra’s. It was a question about how Lee22 interprets Lion-O’s character. I asked, why would someone who is not Tygra betraying someone who is not Lion-O make Lion-O weary of Tygra? Iknow that Lion-O knows he has Tygra’s loyalty I was just asking Lee22 why he/she thinks Lion-O would question that loyalty because of something someone who isn’t Tygra does or does not do.
I think you’re having this discussion with the wrong person.
SilverHawks was a great show as memory serves. Pity it didn’t have the staying power of TCats. Lots of the same voice talent was used including Earl Hammond who portrayed both of the main villains in Mumm-Ra/MonStar.

It kind of gives you hope about how they plan to play Tygra’s mind abilities in this series too.
Didn’t the Silverhawks have an telepath/Illusionist on their team? If I remember correctly they used him a lot better than the T-cats used Tygra’s powers.
What are you talking about not world building? So there are cameo’s from other past shows. Big deal. We are getting world building as we are finding out the Thundercat’s and Mumm-Ra’s pasts and how things ended up the way they are now. That is way more than we ever got in the original Thundercat’s series.

Personally, I think it’s about time they merged all three worlds. They’re all a part of the same family in my books. As a kid, I was a huge fan of a three series. Do the Silverhawks and Tigersharks deserve a reboot series of their own? Probably not. But I’m pleased with this direction. They at least deserve a cameo as a nod.
You are right that I should watch before judging, but I would be cringing all the way. To incorporate TS & SH is just plain wrong for the mythology, and an even more blatant toy sell that those of the 80s.
I expected something more original for the new series in terms of world building other than overused plots recycled from Star Wars, Indiana Jones, anything on the SyFy channel and comics sewn together with other animation into a fan boy Frankenstein monster that has no distinctive language, no depth, and no soul. We still do not know precisely what a Thundercat is. We do not know if there are gods, even though there are “clerics”. It is a sad situation.
The new Thundercats could have been an epic SF/Fantasy show, a great meal upon which to feast. But the show is just yesterday’s tired hash served on a paper plate.
Yeah, I think you’re jumping the gun Nine Tiger. How exactly does having some SilverHawks and TigerSharks ruin this show? It’s not like they’re treating it as some sort of crazy cartoon crossover that will get in the way of the plot.
EDIT: I see you answered my question. There’s still plenty of room for world building though. I’m glad the other two shows are being acknowledged.
Never was a huge fan of Silverhawks or Tigersharks to be honest, but if there is something worth borrowing from this shows to add to this one, it might be cool.
Yeah I’ve just noticed that after double checking, whether it means something or not…Ithink it looks much better on them, giving them more of a cat look and a damn shame the new main Tcats don’t have that eye detail
