Mezco ThunderCats toys in 2015

It’s still “ThunderCats”’ 30th birthday, and I’m still a fan of the show.

I will PM you both. Basically it’s an art project. I might post a separate thread about it when it’s completed.

Also as part of the 30th Anniversary I am starting a Thndercats painting this week I hope to have finished by the end of the week.

I just received your PM.

Will Mezco retweet this just to mess with fans if they aren’t really considering something ahead?

I am more optimistic now. If not Toy Fair, the new line definitely will be announced later in 2015.

I tweeted the following and Mezco responded. Click on the image to view it.

I am definitely excited now (even more than before)! As you said, I wouldn’t think that they would lead us on if they didn’t have something up their sleeve. I better start saving my money!!

ill buy it all

ive said before and will keep retyping it because i think this is the strongest persuasion tool we have…i will buy everything thundercats that they make…if they make a 6 inch line…ill buy 10 of each at least!

Mezco ThunderCats products have always been supported by the fans, I’m not understanding why they would second guess their ThunderCats products in retail?

Now if they are afraid of the fate like Bandai ThunderCats, they should just look at the quality of Bandai and pat themselves on the back because Mezco has no complaints in that department lol.

Moving on, what sales pitch would Mezco need to make for retailers to take on a potential 6" line? (considering a lot of retailers will think twice about investing in something that did poorly the last time).

Thanks for sharing that convo. I’m rather confused why they are concerned about retailers don’t they do direct sales like mattycollector.com?

Hey gang, I’ve posted a Q&A with Mezco to the front page. Earlier this week I reached out to Mezco directly and spoke with Pierre Kalenzaga, who is a Project Manager over there. We had a great chat, it sounds like they have a really fun team over there.

We posted a higher res image of the promo artwork and I asked many of the questions you’ve posted on the forums. We’ve confirmed that Jean St. Jean will be sculpting Tygra, he worked on all the figures to date, I for one am very glad that we’ll have the same creative talent working on Tygra.

I did press for answers on future plans for One:12 or more characters beyond Tygra. Quite simply, there are no current plans but there is a desire to do more. What really came across from my call with Pierre, is that these guys really love ThunderCats. If the demand was there, they’d go as deep into the secondary characters line-up as Snow Meow (Pierre actually said this exactly).

In order to see more characters, in my opinion, Tygra has to sell well. So I really hope he does.

Epic interview. I honestly prey the mega-scale Tygra figure will sell well once it’s released in October.

Totally agree. I know I will plan on doing my part

Thanks for the interview. What would you guys like to see as an exclusive Tygra? I would at least like the alternate head with glow in the dark eyes, but a phasing Tygra would be pretty cool too. There was a Jessica Alba/Invisble Woman figure that had partly translucent limbs that looked really good. I don’t know if they can do translucent rotocast though.

Thanks for the interview Mark. Mezco suggesting secondary characters is a great sign, it means they are looking further as to what can be considered to extend the line beyond the core characters.

As I mentioned in the past, the line needs to start out with a mix of both core and secondary characters. Keeping all secondary characters for wave 4 or wave 5 would not be wise, as overall they will be in less demand when compared to the core characters.

Having two core characters with one secondary character in wave/series 1 and so forth will ensure that the toy line will sustain into several series. This will result in better sales, with fans collecting the various series to get both the secondary and core characters, as long as Mezco is committed to continue till they release all the major characters.

I agree they need to mix in some secondary characters in each wave. But the five main characters need to be released in the first two waves.

Show them a couple episodes of the 2011 series and the toys that Bandai put out for sale and it will be pretty obvious why they didn’t sell well.

‘‘This is the crap that was on the shelves and the cartoon that was supposed to sell it to young children. However this is what we plan on releasing based on this vastly superior more popular original show’’.

So Toy Fair weekend is here and Mezco have shown their products and surprise, surprise…no Thundercats mentioned or shown.

30th anniversary and no exciting products to look forward to, just another glorified statue that should have been released long ago to complete the set for those that collect them.

Kind of glad as I have seen their Mortal Kombat figures they are making a bad choice by doing 6" and 3.75" figures. They should just stick to one scale like SOTA did with Street Fighter and be done with it.

In other news though a lot of companies have really shown their A game for various other licences. I don’t know if I will be able to stay away from collecting with the amount of stuff coming out.

Two reasons why Mezco is likely doing 6 inch figures — ThunderCats Lair

Though Batman and Dredd are part of the “One:12 Collective” line, I think some of the other brands shown in that sheet are more so part of a 6" line of figures with sculpted clothes within $25 and not the $50 figures with fabric clothes.

I think we need to confirm with Mezco whether a 6" figure with sculpted clothes could be termed as part of their One:12 Collective line or is it meant for figures with fabric only.

Cloth attire, especially 80’s cartoon attire, in a 6" scale? No thank you.

Mezco confirmed on Twitter that One:12 Collective means 6" figures with fabric.

So ThunderCats could be either ways. 6" figure with fabric or 6" figure without fabric but not part of the One:12 Collective line.

I am leaning on the latter so the price point remains lower.

Does anyone know anything about Hanna-Barbera brands shown there ?

I would be thrilled with either option, but would prefer without fabric if it creates a substantially lower price point.

I’d prefer a Mezco One:12 Collective line without fabric.
