Mezco ThunderCats toys in 2015

I love cloth capes and jackets on action figures but n all honesty I would not be keen on 1:12 action figures like Lion-O and other 80’s characters with cloth costumes. Primarily they are to small and the attire would be odd looking. Some of the 8" Mego figures look okay but again they are all human shaped and I don’t think the system would suit characters like the mutants etc.

I’m reading between the lines here on this one, another toy company must have the license to do a basic 6" line because it shouldn’t be too difficult to make figures if Mezco really loves ThunderCats unless someone beat them to the punch

Instead we are stuck possibly getting a different scale figures that would be costly by some, feared not do well in retail stores.

I doubt it. If any company had the licence at present they would have announced something at NY Toy Fair…unless they are waiting for SDCC, but again I really doubt it. After all the excitement for the anticlimactic announcement of the Tygra statue then for another year with zero presence at one of the two biggest toy shows, the current and future state of the Thundercats brand is not looking good.
Mattel released awful figures based on the Ghostbusters movie a couple years ago and they sold okay but were very poor and Diamond Select are now making vastly superior figures because they know they will sell well because of the fan base and the fact that their toys will be better than what was previously released.
After the disaster that was the Bandai figures, I do not understand why WB cannot get another company to produce superior figures when they know that there is a fan base really wanting them.

100% agreed !

You guys are having a very weird reaction to the news that:

  1. We’re getting the full adult cat lineup and maybe more in the Mega Scale

  2. A specialty toy maker with a retail distribution ability has the license to do a deluxe 6-7 inch line in Classics

  3. We have strong indications that they intend to make that line

  4. Twelve weeks we thought there was absolutely nothing on the horizon besides the heavily delayed resin kits

I will not express my opinion about the mega scale line because I respect everyone here but what I can not accept is to follow up a Toy Fare like that (with all those awesome new figures) and realize my beloved birthday brand was down to this:

I hope no one here is pleased with it…I hope we get news at SDCC !

My point exactly! I know Mezco does not love Mortal Kombat more than ThunderCats lol.

This would make more sense if we know who owns the master toy license and if Mezco reacquired the license why so little merchandise? So that means only one person could be behind all this…

RED HERRING!

Since Warner Bros. owns the rights to “ThunderCats” and “Mortal Kombat,” would we expect a crossover toy line anytime soon? Oh, and Glasslite, I dig the Tex Avery-style Bugs Bunny statue amongst the “MK” and “TC” stuff.

I’m really, really happy that Thundercats is continuing in some way at Mezco. I really enjoy the Mega figures, and it bugged me that we didn’t have Tygra, so no disappointment over anything else will take away from me being stoked about that.

Of course I wanted to see way more, at the same time. I’m a little worried if Thundercats ends up showing up in the same line as Judge Dredd and Batman, we may only see Lion-o and Mumm-ra at best. That is the type of line where they aren’t going to go deeply into anything because of the cost, deluxe nature, etc.

If Thundercats were a line more like Mortal Kombat, I could see them doing the whole cast since those are less deluxe. In the end, I’m probably going to buy whatever they make (because it’s Thundercats!) but I do hope we see the cats in a less “fancy” line so we can get more of them.

Totally agree. I would rather see a lower price point and more characters.

  1. This is only good for people that collect them and statues.
  2. What’s the point of having a licence and doing nothing with it.
  3. Indications are all well and good but I would be more interested in something actually being announced.
  4. So far all that is on the horizon is just another glorified statue. :frowning:

SDCC is pretty much Mezco and WB last chance with Thundercats for me. I have lost a lot of interest in collecting as it is, mostly due to finances, but a lot of other brands and their products are screaming for me to purchase them.
If WB don’t want my money fair enough, there are better things I will be more than happy spending my money on.

‘ThunderCats’ is still one of the last unexplored nostalgic brands of the world (I think D&D cartoon is another) and an acurate action figures toyline is need…

Just like other brands, we should have: action figures + statues, action figures + minimates, action figures + books, action figures + underwears…not statues, minimates, books or even, underwears only…

So, I’m sorrow to see TC on the botton of the Mezco display, under Bugs Bunny and Mortal Kombat…

I agree SDCC is our last hope and Mezco last chance…

I’m not really a fan of the Mezco line of Thundercats figures. But I’m happy for those that do collect them. I’m still waiting desperately for a relaunch of the classic LJN line. They really should do that. Just as was done with MOTU and TMNT toys.

I read a couple o’ tweets from @KennerToys (it’s a fan-driven Twitter) that Gentle Giant, Ltd. will be giving new life to two vintage Kenner lines based on the DC Universe – “The Super Powers Collection” and “Batman: The Animated Series.” Maybe we can ask GG if they can give the LJN “ThunderCats” line new life. That is, if they’re fans of “ThunderCats.”

This video gives a good idea of what the ONE:12 brand is for Mezco. It aims to be Hot Toys quality on a 6 inch scale. If you want to see ThunderCats in this format on shelves, it depends to some degree on how Tygra sells. So buy him or don’t buy him, I will be pre-ordering two on the day they go up in part because I want to see Mezco do a 6 inch line.

I personally love the statues that were made by Hard Hero and Pop Culture Shock. I don’t know why you’d call a mega scale action figure nothing but a “glorified statue”. For one thing it is not a statue. And the statues were awesome anyway. I would buy lots of glorified statues if they were being made.

You cant complain about not having ThunderCats products to buy if you don’t buy them when they’re made.

I’m most definitely gonna be owning that Tygra statue. :3

Why? Gentle Giant specializes in over-sized figures which is essentially what Mezco is doing now.

I just think that GG enjoys living up to its name.

Here is a video that clearly explains that Mezco really gives us a lot of positive clues in the interview:

Fast forward to 2:10 to 3:30 is another clue IMO about coughs from Toy Guru: (Possible 20 inch ThunderCats for $20)

I watched only when they talked about “ThunderCats.” I just heard they might do the ThunderKittens after Tygra.
