i was trying to point out that the preaching he was getting from Tygra and Panthro wasnt doing the job, so Cheetara is taking a more personal approach which is working. it isnt that hard of a concept to think she can be nice to him and have a more personal approach to guiding him without something else going on between them.
and i again point out that all of these supposed intimate moments were times she was trying to teach him something he would not have understood if she hadnt used the approach that she did. and notice every time they are “caught” in these supposed intimate moments, she never reacts as if anything is going on while Lion-O get all flustered. a good reason for this could very well be that she doesnt think anything was going on, she just thought she was teaching him
and really, every time a girl is nice to you doesnt mean she is totally into you
For your information kind sir, I did read your posts, duly noted. If your talking about real life experience then yes, when a girl is nice to you doesn’t actually means that she likes you, I’ve gone out with several. BUT if a girl is nice to you while she’s constantly providing support involving physical contact in certain areas, then that’s another thing. Considering Cheetara is already 19 she should be concious and well aware that Lion-O is no longer what you can call a kid who just hit puberty.
If the above doesn’t get to you then I’m afraid our approach on how relationship works on real life women sorta differs.
this is the kind of thinking that gets guys charged with assault, and i dont think the “she wanted it, i could tell” reasoning works very well in court
Cheetara is the last of the Clerics, which directly serve and guide the king. being as such, it makes perfect sense that she would immediately side with what Lion-O wanted to do and go out of her way to help him. she is supposed to do all these things. and i think it is Lion-O (and a deliberate misdirection as far as the audience is concerned) that is interpreting her doing her sworn duty as some sort of affection.
It’s like you read my mind
I’m guessing a 19 years hot chick giving explanations by leaning and touching a prefectly healthy 17 years old ‘kid’ instead of provide him with a simple preaching without all the touching, would be viewed as simply ‘guiding’ him. From your point at least… but not so sure about others perspective.
My point of view as well. For a long term relationship between a teacher and student three ways to build a strong bond with the student are using their name, making eye contact and making a certain level of non-threatening physical contact.
When you do these things the student will remain more focused, respond better and develop a stronger bond with you. Holding someone at arms length doesn’t achieve this. I am always making (appropriate) physical contact with students, and also commonly get close to them because it gets better results in their performance, and helps us develop a stronger bond. That sort of thing can occasionally lead to crushes and the like, but on my end it’s purely platonic.
I think it was mentioned that among Lion-O, Tygra and Cheetara, Cheetara is definitely considered the strongest fighter, being the Crown’s Royal Bodyguard and all. If Lion-O or Tygra tries or think anything funny she could send them up to kingdom come. So if there’s a court case involved it would be Lion-O or Tygra filing against Cheetara for physical abuse.
I can see where’re you getting at about the teacher and students relationship… But may I know the age gap between the teacher and the student you are referring? Is it 20s, 30s, 40s old with teens or kids (10-15ish old)? or early college student (19) with a second year high schooler (17)? If you refer to opposite sex physical guidance, then the former could apply without any emotion involving only parental feelings, but I doubt the same thing would happen on the latter, especially when its the age of you know… young ones on their prime?
I agree on keeping the love triangle as a side story or minimum, and hopefully they’ll focus more on the main plot, like Lion-O’s revenge and grow from being immature, Tygra being able to trust Lion-O and get over his inferiority complex, Cheetara’s history with Jaga and the Clerics, Panthro’s grudge with Grune, Wilykit and Kat on their quest for the gold city, Mumm-Ra’s history with the cats and many more. So many stuffs to explore on the story and characters aside from the love triangles.
I’m in my early twenties but the ages of my non-adult students ranges from 4-15, so as of now the smallest age gap between me and a student I act like that around is 7 years. While it’s true that the age gap’s not as small as Lion-O and Cheetara I find that once boys hit puberty it doesn’t always matter how old the girl is. I’ve had a few students who I start acting more like my adult students (who don’t like impromptu physical contact and space invasion) because the way they act towards me is changing to something I can’t allow in a proffesional setting.
It depends partly on the personality, not just age. But until there’s “Hey these are our feelings” moment in the show we’ll have to keep having these discussions (which I’m having a blast with).
Agreed. I like romance as a sub-plot, but I don’t want it ever be THE main focus of the show.
I personally have no interest in love triangles because
Usually the ‘girlfriend’ suffers from getting any indivual developement and becomes only ‘so and so’s girlfriend’.
With limited time I’d rather see Tygra’s and Pathro’s friendship develop. I think the two of them have real potential to be as amusing as Kit and Kat playing off of each other in this series. You could see the spark in the scene where they’re tormenting Lion-o together. Add in I think Tygra has actually said more words to Pathro than any other character besides Lion-o. It might be fun watching Pathro lure Tygra out of his rather reserved shell.
That’s why, if the love triangle develops, I want Cheetara to be with Tygra.
What I DON’T WANT is this (and believe me, given the originality I’m so far seeing in the writers, I’m afraid this might happen):
[ol]
[li]Tygra deveops feelings for Cheetara, and gets closer to her and opens his feelings to her,[/li][li]Cheetara kinda likes Lion-o but feels sorry for Tygra and then starts a relationshio with him,[/li][li]Lion-o himself feels sorry for Tygra because, well, he lost everyhting while Lion-o won everything.[/li][li]Tygra realizes Cheetara and Lion-o love each other,a and that Cheetara is with him out of pity, and gives a step to the side.[/li][/ol]
I agree in that, if Tygra ends up with Cheetara, it should be by the end, when Lion-o is already Super Lord of the TCs ad Tygra can “win” the girl because of his own charisma and likability. If not, that would be like kicking the wound horse.
Also, I think they’re making Lion-o too “we’ll do this because I say so and I’m the king” kind of a jerk. In “Old Friends”, when Tygra said “but I’m still older”, for me it was not out of jealousy. Tygra had advised him to ambush the lizard men because they were on higher ground; he might have been wrong, but it’s a war startegy, and a good one. Lion-o said “no, and I’m th king so follow me”. Every king has advisors and counsellors that are both older and wiser, so it would be nice if Lion-o listens to Pantrho and Tygra once in a while for a change because there might be a chance they know what they’re talking about.
If Tygra has an inferiority complex (understandable from my PoV); Lion-o all of a sudden is showing a superiority one, that might have been there forever (only overshadowed because of his insecurity when it came to please Claudus), because those things don’t develop overnight.
I agree. Cheetara then becomes merely an object to be fought over. She is no longer a person and is lowered to the level of a plot device to divide Lion-O and Tygra. Ugh, I hate that crap. It’s a cheap and lazy way to build conflict.
Even more unnecessary when the conflict between the brothers is already there.
I touched this topic last week
One thing is being adopted by an ordinary family, where differences could be not touched at all and kids grow up as siblings… and a different thing is being adopted by the roayl family, where he was every day reminded that; not necessarily directly, but every day he was reminded (by himself or others) that he’s not in line to the throne, because he’s adopted.
Like I said, it’s just my own take on him at this point. The show could certainly go a different route and I’d be totally wrong, which wouldn’t be the first time.
As for the lack of interaction between the two, there’s still 19 episodes left and they’ve hardly dealt with anything Tygra related so far. It’s coming.
I personally think he has. Being better when they were both princes meant something, doesn’t mean as much with Lion-O as king. Plus, as you mentioned, it’s only going to get worse as Lion-O gets better.
Remember the Petelars(?) episode where Lion-O’s all “I’m the king” and all Tygra could come up with was the pathetic “I’m still older” line? That tells you that their dynamic is completely changed already.
Exactly. If they wanted to go strictly with the Lion-O/Cheetara route that’s perfectly fine but then it would be better for Tygra’s character to leave him out of it completely. There’s only two reasons I can see adding Tygra into the mix. 1) It’s a start to a final resolution for the brothers to work out their problems or 2) It’s to make Tygra reach his breaking point and lead him to Grune.
Are we talking about what the writers have up their sleeves regarding her role as Cleric? Will she be able to see Jaga in this version for example? Or are we talking about Lion-o vs Tygra and who should get her?
I don’t think that line was completely pathetic. Sure it wasn’t enough of a reason, but I think Tygra meant to tell Lion-o that he knows better. And as I said before, it wouldn’t harm Lion-o to listen to someone more experienced from time to time, rather than go here and there saying “I’m the king”, as if that alone would give him experience and wisdom.
I just realized something that may break the whole triangle altogether. Wouldn’t the fact that Cheetara’s a Cleric mean that she would be unable to marry anyone? When I think of the term “Cleric” I think of someone who’s taken of vow of celibacy.
