Maybe they could make the adoption story a little more interesting by saying Tygra’s dad was a criminal. Give Tygra that shame and embarassment of his past to give his character some depth and complexity? :tygra:
Or maybe they don’t even know his parents. Claudus could’ve found him or something and gave him a home and him being an orphan could make him more sympathetic to the kittens.

There are a lot of possibilities with that plot line. He could be sympathetic and friendly with the kittens or he could be a prideful jerk. I would wager the first rather than the latter. It also opens up the possibility of him discovering more about his past as the show progresses.
I doubt it. Claudis looks like RB’s Lion-O all grown up and WB’s Lion-O has the same coloring and similar markings. I believe that is his father by blood not adoption

Maybe they’ll end up doing a Lord of the Rings thing. Claudus is like Denethor (except he’s not psychotic). Lion-O is like Faramir and assumes rule of the people. And Tygra is like Aragorn, the rightful heir to the throne of the ancient line of kings, born in obscurity to where no one knows his true identity. :eek:

Lol, guys your comments just proof all the material possible with Lion-O’s family alone. Which makes the idea of Lion-O’s mother even further interesting. Seriously, I hope the writers don’t skip over any of this. It’ll be great story telling and make the show different as most show tend to ignore this issues.

Sadly seeing it is ‘a kids show’ I dont think they are going to get too into it, then again if you look at Avatar the last air bender, they did touch on some not so fluffy happy subjects (Zukos mother being killed, Sakka’s girlfriend being killed…) So who knows. Lets hope it is something epic and cool! I like the LOTR’s idea, that storyline from those movies and books was always very interesting.

Zuko’s mother wasn’t killed. She was banished. It actually really annoyed me how that wasn’t resolved. All you saw was Zuko goin to his dad in the last episode going, “Where is my mother?!”
Technically, we don’t know if she’s alive or dead, she could be either. Ozai made the suggestion to Zuko that his mom might still be alive when Zuko confronted him during the eclipse. Ozai was powerless to fire-bend against his son during that time. He could have suggested Zuko’s mom might not be dead only to buy him some time to keep Zuko there until the eclipse ended so that he could finish his son off. It’s possible. I agree that it was incredibly annoying. They never should have had that scene in the episode where Zuko asked his dad that question if they weren’t going to answer the question, imho.

I don’t think Yue was technically ever his girlfriend. She was bethrothed to another. Sokka’s g/f was Suki who helped fight in the end.
Then how come when he is talking to ZUko in one of the later episodes he says ‘My girlfriends the moon spirit’ or something along those lines? I’m not sure but they made it -seem- that way before he met Suki.
And also I always believed that they just offed Zuko’s mother. Makes it that much more offensive haha.
Maybe I should rewatch the end of season 1, I don’t recall the details. I know in the movie they definitely became an item but I don’t remember getting that sense in the cartoon. Sokka was the one to always try to be clever and funny, maybe he found an opportunity for a joke. I never was entirely sure in the show when Suki actually became his girlfriend. He met her well before he met Yue.
As much as I like this topic, I’d like to get back to potential names for Lion-O’s mother.
In my fan-fic “Spirit Fire” I named her Liana, hence her son’s name Lion-o.
I’ve always thought it should be something short, soft, and simple, like Laia or Lia, or even Laila. But Lia is awfully close to Leah, and Laila calls to mind the Eric Clapton song, so Laia would be my preference.
Or, like Claudis, it could be something more referential, like Leonisis, Livia, Liandromeda, or Leopatra.
