Should this new series mention Lion-O’s mother?
I think it would be neat.
I really think it should. So many cartoons always focus on who the father is (especially with action cartoons) In fact, many Disney films always have single parent stories with the father being in the movie rather than the mother.
It would really be neat to see other female Thunderians.
I would dearly love to know about her. The mother has amost always been missing from most shows and the father is the focus. Guess they figure girls don’t care about these cartoons unless its a pony or something. Maybe the creators will toss us a bisquit with a mention.
My theory is I figured she was killed when Lion-o was little in the same battle that blinded Claudus. I wrote a story (long time ago) called Spirit Fire about the relationship between Lion-O & Jaga being more than mentor and student. Lion-O’s mother was Jaga’s daughter, thus the lineage & being the hereditary heir to the title & Sword. Jaga was Lion-O’s grandfather.

I also always wondered what happened to her, but unlike Willeya, I always thought she died when she gave birth to Lion-O.
Now, with this whole Lion-O and Tygra being brothers thing, I’m intrigued about both mothers. How would the writers explain it? Two wives, one dead and the other alive? Both of them died? One lives in obscurity (Tygra’s mother) while the other is the “official wife and queen”? The last one wouldn’t be very honorable though, thus going against the Code of Thundera itself.
i honestly would like to see his mother or at least if not seen then have her absence explained

As for the Lion-O/Tygra brothers thing I assumed he’s more like an adopted brother. Which would explain why Lion-O is the heir while Tygra is the elder brother.
Yeah I think the only way it’s gonna work is if Tygra was an orphan, brought up by Claudus as his own kin, and destined to be a ThunderCat someday… anything else I’ll find hard to swallow.
Personally I’d kinda like it if he was an orphan who was raised to be Lion-O’s bodyguard. In the teaser he did always seem to be by Lion-O’s side. He could be the one to take Snarf’s place as the person who tries to talk Lion-O out of doing something impulsive…only Much less annoyingly.
Ahh, she could have been Claudus’s concubine.
I think Lion-O and Tygra’s mother in the new show could be be the same person, and a tiger. I think that for their species, tiger genes could be recessive, letting Lion-O look like Claudus and Tygra look like their tiger mother. Since we don’t have any idea how Thunderian genes work, it’s not impossible.
It would be cool if they did at least mention her somewhere, and it would be even better if she had some kind of importance to the plot.

I would like for her to be included somehow. But if the original series was “too complex for kids to understand”, according to someone involved with the new series, how is a lion and a tiger being siblings with the younger being the rightful heir easier to understand?
But I still want to see Lion-O’s mom involved/included/mentioned somehow…
I’d love to See Lion-O’s mother in this! I wonder if she’d have the title of Queen, though. I’ve heard Lion-o’s father called 'King Cladus" in a few sources for the remake instead of ‘lord of the thundercats’, so it might be possible.
I would imagine it more like Tygra being an adopted son. Probably his father and mother were close to king Claudius but were lost so he took Tygra in but when Lion-O was born he is the official heir and Tygra is simply a Prince by circumstance. Kind of like an older brother.
The other option could be that the Sword of Omen’s chooses the Lord of the Thundercats itself. Just something I thought about the other day after watching the trailer that popped up on facebook. The way they cut the trailer it looked like the Sword was calling to Lion-O, rather than it simply being handed over to Lion-O’s father.
That would make the family relations a lot simpler and would add to the mystic of the Sword of Omens. Perhaps Jaga was the last Lord of the Thundercats but for whatever reason the Sword Of Omen’s closed it’s eye to Jaga (possibly because of Grune’s lust for power). Leaving Claudius as the King of the Thundercats until the next Lord of the Thundercats is revealed i.e. Lion-O with Jaga becoming his mentor as he knows the burdens of the Sword etc.
As for Lion-O’s mother ? I hope she at least gets a mention along with how Lion-O and Tygra are related (either through blood or adoption).
Mmmm… I don’t like that idea. That’d mean that one son was more honorable and deserving / worthy of the title, and would take off the idea of all the TCs (or sons of the king for tha matter) being able and equal. Also, that’d mean a hard wound for Tygra (or any other, it doesn’t matter here I’m a Tygra fan), and would also make Thunderians look at him without the same respect they did before it when he was just another son of the king.
Can you imagine it? Two possible scenarios that would mean complete shame: a) the younger brother defeated him, thus meaning he wasn’t strong / smart enough; b) the sword picking Lion-O rather than him (being him the older), which would mean he wasn’t worthy, that he wasn’t at the height of things.
I think there must be another explanation for all that. Bur that’s just my opinion of course.

I thought in one of the intervews it was hinted that the two would fight it out to be the next lord of the Tcats?
I wouldn’t like the ‘blood relation’ route, i’d much rather the adoption theory, having said that would an adopted son even have the oppertunity to go for the role of being lord of the Tcats?

I know I love to pick on the character Tygra but if he and Lion-O are indeed blood brothers, it’s so unfair that the younger brother becomes Lord of the Thundercats.
If he is adopted, he still has to suffer because he still can’t be Lord of the Thundercats just because of bloodlines.
You know, technically tigers are larger than lions…go google it. Lions just appear bigger because of their mane and tigers are bigger length-ways and also by weight.
