Why does Third Earth need to be in our Solar System?
The Silverhawks were from Earth but they were stationed in Limbo in the OS which, last I checked, wasn’t in our Solar System, so I am interested to know why some of you are insisting Third Earth is in our Solar System?
This episode was half Infinity Gauntlet, half Bardock Special from DBZ.
Or am I the only one who got a very “Freeza and the Saiyans” vibe from Mumm-Ra and the cats?
Not a fan of the armor change thing (though Mummra did look cool) and it felt more like I was watching Star Wars then Thundercats in this episode. Still, trying to keep an open mind.
Did enjoy seeing the other animals, especially the TigerSharks.
Except in the case of DBZ Frieza won.

It was a joke-post of course, but fun to talk about. Yes, I was implying that they were reforging the sword, reuniting the eye with the blade.
I dislike the lack of history and legacy of the sword at this point in the new series - the sword is pretty much new to them as they arrive on third earth and vanquish mumm ra, and since then its been used to keep a city on a single planet safe. It just seems less grand and epic. I understand that things change and I really do enjoy the new show, i’m really not complaining, but the scale and history of the sword just seems very small in scope compared to what i’m used to. Of course, hearing Lion-o’s commentary as opposed to Leo’s probably changes the entire feel of the scene, so its all about perception, and i’m just having fun with this. 
I completely understand I just enjoy being a devils advocate and I also like to help flesh out ideas. Unfortunately most times the two don’t play well together. at least with out making me sound like a jerk or nut job. 
Good news is for the most part I am fine with that which I think is what convinces most people that I am a nut job.

But yea, the idea would be that Leo is a decendant of OS Lion-O, and the eye is taken from the sword-hilt at some point by Mon-Starr, who brings it to the planet where it is being used as a warstone. In the meantime, Mumm Ra enslaves the Thundarians, possibly by conquering New Thundara, building up his powers and slave armies to launch an attack on Mon-Starr’s planet to retrieve the Eye. Possibly generations of enslavement later, Leo snatches the opportunity to fulfill his destiny in the lineage of Lords before him, by reunifying the mystic Sword of Omens, source of the Thundercats power, and finally imprisoning their eons-long foe Mumm Ra. The tech-pyramid we see in the NS distant past would be a post-OS incarnation of the pyramid, after Mumm Ra upgrades himself with technology to finally take post-OS Thundara while Mon Starr claims the eye.
So I finally got around to watching it. It was an okay episode. It fleshes out the past a little more but I guess I didn’t care for how easily Leo defeats Mumm-Ra in the past. Also as has been mentioned I really don’t know what to make of the whole Go Go Power Rangers aspect of the power stones. I understand that they are supposed to give the user of them a huge power boost but I think that they could have been handled a lot cooler than it was. Really my main complaint is that the whole episode just felt really rushed. I really think that they should slow down the exposition and do it with more characater building and take time to build up more suspense and drama.
Although one average episode after so many good ones hasn’t soured me yet to this series that’s for sure!
Another little flaw…is in the OS the eye of thunderra will not obey an evil command, surely Mon-star or whatever his name is would have to be classed as being evil! …actually, kinda annoyed they didn’t keep that trait in the NS grrrrr…
In Silverhawks, doesn’t Mon*Star transform into a giant armored creature? Maybe since they apparently stole the stone from him, that is why it gave Leo & Mumm-ra armor too? Just a thought lol. Trying to look for a theory that makes me comfortable haha.
The Stones of Power have no preference in whom they obey but the Sword of Omens will not obey an evil person whatsoever. The sword is supposed to have some kind of enchantment that the clerics put on it.
As for those power ups, can we expect a Bandai Myth Cloth Saint Seiya Lion-O figure?

The enchantment stops evil from touching it. But if the enchantment was broken he could use it.
Though I wonder if that enchantment was placed on it before or after Leo’s battle with Mumm-Ra. Panthera does say it was made from enchanted metal.
Well, we technically don’t know how the Eye will act when it is separated from the sword, and we don’t know what type of betrayal/scheme enabled their downfall, or how Mon-Starr and/or Mumm-Ra’s victory would occur.
I was under the impression that the armored form of Mon-Star was his real form. Since he technically peeled or shredded his skin to reveal it. I guess they may change it for the NS.
