In the OS, and confirmed by Hear The Roar, Third Earth was Earth. but in this series, who, knows.
Perhaps we can postulate that the sun has expanded in its old age, swallowing the inner planets, and making Jupiter the first planet. Then we can have sunlight, and “Third Earth” can reasonably be one of the moons of Jupiter.

Not so self-explanatory in the new series. Third Earth appears to orbit Jupiter. Last time I checked though, none of the moons of Jupiter can support life.
If the sun became a giant, and swallowed up the inner planets, circumstances might be different for the moons. Any astronomers out there?

The thing is, it’s all wild speculation at this point. We don’t even know for sure if this Third Earth is even in our solar system. All we’ve seen at this point is are fleeting glimpses of a gas giant that could be Jupiter. It’s hard to tell as I think up to this point we’ve only seen it through the atmosphere and so the colors are a little faint (I don’t know if it even shows the red spot). So if someone can come up with a screen grab, then maybe we can be a little bit more certain.
It did seem the red spot was there, and that is why Jupiter was referenced by several people

That sounds like a good Fan-Fic. However the only minor flaw in your theory is that the Sword was created for the first time for Leo. So it was not in existence for the OS to loose anything from it. Unless your proposing that they be two different Swords with the same name. I guess you could also Argue they were re-forming the sword instead of creating it anew. Hmmm. Probable not really but definitely Possible which in the end is all that counts.
Jupiter’s moon Europa has an oxygenated atmosphere. perhaps as others have stated, the sun has expanded over a million or so years and now Europa is classified as the 3rd incarnation of Earth

Jupiter is a gas giant with many moons orbiting it. In real life there could be no lifeforms on them at all because they don’t have a breathable atmosphere or no atmosphere at all; some of them are nothing more than mere asteroids that were caught in Jupiter’s gravity field. But ThunderCats is a fantasy series where anything could happen within plausible limits. So it could be that, in this new series, the Cats crash-landed on a Jovian moon which somehow had enough of a breathable atmosphere that enabled them somehow able to terraform it into a habitable world, or it was already terraformed by those who had lived there previously. Just a guess on my part.

as i pointed out above, Jupiter’s moon Europa has an oxygen rich atmosphere. the only obstacle to get past is the “too far from the Sun to be warm” part
Thank you! The wiki entry confirmed what you said about Europa’s atmosphere, but they said the atmosphere is tenuous, meaning it’s thin. This means terraforming would have been needed on a grand scale to include creating more oxygen for Europa, which could have been done prior to the Cats’ arrival. Since the Sun is too far from Jupiter to provide any light, I’d think that, provided Europa rotates on an axis, Jupiter itself would provide ample light. The science in the NS doesn’t have to be 100% exact, but it has to be exact enough to make such things plausible. That’s what sci-fi is all about.
