I felt the same way. That greatly reduced the value / importance of the stones for me.
I’m going by the assumption that this won’t be the case for Lion-O and that Leo only won because he knew Mumm-Ra so well from serving him for so long.
AND the history, scale and epicness of the Sword of Omens, the Eye of Thundara, and its legacy… it doesn’t feel right to me, the sword being new with no past, beating mumm ra first try, and becoming part of Thundara lore only after the crash landing.
That’s one of my critiques as well. There was no gradual built-up for the sword, it just appeared the next scene. I was hoping for an epic birth, where the elder Cats would at least discuss the need for a weapon that fights for “good” or truth, and then show how it was made. But I guess with so much going on there wasn’t any room left for the sword :(.
It has to be new at some point. Remember this was five thousand years ago. The Sword is ancient to the current Thundercats. In comparison to us It would be around the time of Ancient Egypt and when the Pyramids were first made. Maybe even older as I’m slightly fuzzy on what the time period of that was (seems like it was around 3100BC If I’m remembering correctly).
I know, but I just don’t like the fact that its origin is directly linked to Third Earth and Mumm Ra, it just feels like the whole scope is downscaled, a small city on a single planet, a single battle with Mumm Ra - what has the sword done the last 5000 years to prove its worth? The grand threats have been eliminated. A single major use, a SINGLE battle with Mumm Ra, and then centuries of watching over the medievel cat people, in a small city on a single planet. It just feels… weak…
We have no idea what it’s been used for in the last 5000 years. Why assume it’s done nothing?
And what did you want to happen when it was forged? Did you want it to stand by unused for years? It was forged and immediately used to defeat someone most thought unbeatable. That goes to show how strong the sword is to me. It was forged for a reason. It wasn’t just made just to have a sword. I don’t understand what the issue is.
And for that matter what was the sword ever used for in the OS before the show? Jaga said there was peace on Thundera right? The “grand threats” had been eliminated there as well.
something else to consider, the original sword didn’t showed the logo of the thundercats.
And I don’t think they created the sword with the spell that evil cannot touch the eye.
So I choose to believe that there are still missing stories about the sword.
It goes to the whole Idea of a weapon so powerful that you don’t even want to mess with it. After all how many nukes have we made and how many have been used in war. In the end they are to dangerous and now we a disassembling them. It only takes one good beating to learn you don’t mess with this. I think that was learned a long time ago on third earth so that is why they thrived in relative peace for so long. Every one knew what they could do and did not want to mess with them. At least not until Mumm-Ra came Back as he is their one hope to defeat the Dreaded ThunderCats. Wait I got a little Backwards there… Oh well. Don’t they always say that history is written by the winners of war. Well there you go.
There are still the other stones to consider. I doubt over 5000 years that the stone bearers never came into conflict with each other (which was the whole reason why the book of Omens was hidden right?)
You are right all that time a lot of opportunities to changes and evolution or could be instead decay.
Btw, did anyone else notice that the green stone that Leo merged with the gauntlet looked like it had a circuit board inside?
I was waiting for someone to mention this. I thought it was very cool. This gave it that Fusion of Magic and Tech! I thought it was very interesting. It almost takes the thought of Lightsaber Mechanics to a whole new Evolution. Instead of using Mystic Crystals in tech Use tech inside Mystic Crystals and Vwahla.

Something I just thought of… Who sets up Mumm Ra’s Third Earth Pyramid (or is it just his crashed ship..?? how is it that intact?) if they imprisoned him then crashed? Was it an escape pod? How did it all get there for Grune to find?
Also… Lion-O says “Mumm Ra used the book to find the stones” when he is in the simulation, does that mean the book was like, part of his control panel/ship’s computer or something? I really am not making a ton of sense of this right now. 
I think it is possible that after the Crash the Beings that survived may have repaired the Pyramid a bit as it would have served as a home base of sorts but eventually they left in search of better lands and frankly better living arrangements. The book could have been part of his ship but their is no reason it was not just an artifact as it is now and Mumm-Ra figured out how to make it work for him. I think part of the trick is don’t think about it too Hard. Just accept some of it as Magic and move on.
I was wondering about that too. 
As for the Pyramid maybe it had some sorta force field that protected it. and if not, it did land in a desert. the sand could’ve been really soft where it landed.

I think the premiere is next week? Sept. 16th if I recall correctly.
