Kinetiquettes Lion-O vs. Mumm-Ra Statue Diorama

Definitely unfinished, but starting to look a little more like Lion-O IMO (Though I hope he makes that bottom lip just a little bit thicker).

That CG Lion-O sorta threw me off, but he does look a bit accurate.

I think they’re sculpting it with Zbrush or something similar, instead of traditionally.

Also the new artist has been announced as Thiago Provin.

Here’s his Deviantart if you guys wanna take a look at some of his past works: http://thiagoprovin.deviantart.com/

Yeah Mumm-Ra is little bulky, but the diorama looks great. With the exception of Lion-O’s shoulder pad, I hope the rest of the statue retains his classic look and colors.

"Here is the first look of our Lion-O vs Mumm-Ra diorama statue. The super dynamic scene depicts Lion-O and Mumm-Ra engaged in a fierce battle inside Mumm-Ra’s pyramid. Using the Sword of Plun-Darr as a shield, Mumm-Ra charges up an energy bolt as Lion-O, in mid-air, is in the midst of delivering a crushing blow with the Sword of Omens.

Stay tuned for more updates soon ! "

Pretty cool, but money is going towards the toylines.

It’s pretty cool looking but I can’t see much interest in more statues with the Mattel toy line coming out. Not to mention how long it’s taking them to release the first statue in the line…wasn’t it over a year ago they said they were working on these?

This look really intriguing. I hope Kinetiquettes will deliver on something like this.

The diorama looks amazing!
The timing of this line is horrible with Mattel’s line right around the corner. If this company was smart they would make a jaga VS grune statue instead of this lion-o vs mumm-ra to help drive sales away from mattel. Am I the only person who is sick of getting a new lion-o figure every year? I bet the price point for these will be around $250 USD each.

:tygra:

I believe I remember them previously saying the shoulder armor would be removable.

Their street fighter statues go from around $350-400.

I just noticed in the facebook comments they mentioned these are older images and they’ve changed it a little. They said they’ve made the Sword of Omens longer, and when someone mentioned Mumm-Ra’s head being small they said “We’re on it!” so maybe they’ll fix his proportions.

Thanks, yeah I realized that after I went back and read some of their prior comments.

Here is what they posted on Statue Forum in regards to my post which I had also shared there.

Thats what we intended. We wanted him to be really intimidating and large.

Lion-O’s shoulder pad is removable

Having said that, we are actually doing tweaks to Mumm-ra and the size of the Sword of Omens

Cool, I can live with it. Since Mumm-Ra can transform himself in any form, this seems in line with his appearances.

Thanks. I was going through some of your previous discussion posts on the ThunderCats.org forum and saw that you did confirm it being removable.

I saw some of the suggestions by fans on your Facebook page, regarding the sword size and Mumm-Ra’s head size. Glad to know they are in the works.

So is this still geared towards 1:5 scale or will it be 1:6 scale like your Street Fighter dioramas?

And can we expect a pre-order on your site sometime in 2016 or is this still considered as part of Kickstarter as per your early discussions? I am speculating this to be in the range of $700-$800+

With Mattel figures rolling out this year, fans are getting what they always wanted in terms of ThunderCats merchandise. But statue collectors will indeed embrace this line. Depending on how well this diorama does, I know we can expect similar hero vs villain dioramas with other characters.

But even without other character dioramas in the future, this line won’t feel incomplete as this diorama itself will be an awesome standalone display piece.
We are probably not going with the Kickstarter plan. We want to release as many dioramas in this line as we can provided fans want them.

These are still planned to be 1/5. However we will price it as reasonably as we can. Do note that these will only have an edition size of 250 worldwide.
Awesome, that sounds promising. Thanks for answering all my queries.

250 world wide? wow that’s pretty exclusive. Though on the plus side it means it’s much more likely they’ll sell as well as they hope.

I basically support any and all Thundercats lines that come out but if it does end up at a $800.00 USD. + price tag, that is going to be hard. Don’t get me wrong, it already looks amazing and with the adjustments they are making I am sure it will look absolutely incredible but at that cost…yikes. Its a bit strange to me releasing one at that price when previous statue lines that cost much less failed. Especially at a time when Thundercats fans and collectors have a good amount of merchandise coming out at a cheaper price. On the flip side of that, maybe all the other merchandise coming out increases interest and sales of the statues?? I am curious. Although I will say, i dont know if i would be classified as a statue collector. I have a few statues in the collection but at least at this point in my collecting i am not passionate about statue collecting. I hope this line does well because I would love to see Thundercats vs. Mutants statues. Those would be incredible.

My price estimate was purely based on their pricing for Street Fighter 1/6 statues which go for $350 each. Considering this diorama is a single piece with two characters in 1/5 scale, I am guessing it to be at least double the price. But since they said they will price it as reasonably as they can, maybe my price guess will be wrong.

This line is definitely targeted towards hi-end collectors. I myself don’t buy statues these days, unless it’s something that really appeals to me. Two months ago I spent about $420 on the Dredd movie statue from PCS. It won’t get shipped until early 2017. And I don’t think I will be making any other big collectible purchases this year. But if this diorama goes for pre-order sometime in 2016, I really have to go with their payment plan instead of making a full early payment.

I am committed to the Mattel toy line, but there is a different appeal of statues with their look and quality, and having them on display. I am already imagining it about having this on a rotating display stand. I hope this line continues with other characters as well.

The last time I really wanted a diorama was Sideshow’s Snake Eyes vs Ninjas Diorama, which I missed out on.

Update on Statue Forum. They also posted this updated image on the FB page.

Thanks guys. Glad that you like them so far.

We’ve made some improvements to the sculpt. Increased head size for Mumm-ra, Sword of Omens is longer and shape corrected, and flames on Mumm-ra’s sword has been improved.

This will be quite big. We will have dimensions once its printed out. PO expected to be in September

I would really love this statue, but realistically I woudn’t be able to afford it. TBH the only statue I’ve ever bought I’m still actually paying for (the Sideshow Collectibles Skeletor that’s coming out at the end of the year).

Maybe if Kinetiquettes did payment plans like Sideshow does…

This diorama looks significantly better here.
