Kinetiquettes Lion-O vs. Mumm-Ra Statue Diorama

It’s just a “what if” from my head, nothing more.

Do you mean because it will cost a lot more per figure in comparison to them being available at mass retail?

It may cost more, but in my head, Mattel would somehow find a way around that without losing money.

Mattel wouldn’t do anything to lose money, they would only do something if they were going to make money.

BTW any more word on how these statues are coming along? Are they still working on the designs or have they gave up on the idea?

Had this update from Kinetiquettes:

"Hi Mark,

We definitely are doing this. Just that the artist we have been working with has been slow with progress due to his family issues. However the models are close to completion and we will be able to share the finished piece in 3d soon before he goes for printing

Thanks for keeping the hype alive. Sorry for the wait."

This Lion-O looks better in color than in grayscale.

I commend them for seeing their artistic vision through but this project is definitely not for me.
I am really not liking this re-imagined design. I think the deign looks somewhat worse in colour compared to greyscale.
The face sculpt reflects no character and is not a good representation of Lion-O. In fact Lion-O looks quite old.

I think there is something weird about the design of the briefs or the way they sit on his body as well.

The entire figure reminds me of one of those heavy steroid using wrestlers/body builders from the 80’s/early’90’s now in their late 50’s-early60’s.

My problem with the bottoms specifically, is the way they sit on his inner-thighs. The hem should sit at the crease of the groin and thigh like a brief, not an inch or two below the crease like the leg of a micro-short or a hot pant. It is just weird-looking and does not lay like a real garment.

I completely agree. It’s just really strange looking and does not resemble a real garment in any way.
Another issue I have with the design is the abs area of the costume. I was never a big fan of the cut out abs section on the original Lion-O costume but this is far worse looking.
I terms of reimagining a classic design I prefer the design of the Sideshow re-imagined He-Man statue. If only this was an action figure I would be tempted to buy it.

I have to be honest … this is NOT my cup of tea! There is just so much from this piece I don’t like, for starters, the ears … but let me not kill the hipe here for the guys that do like it!

I agree. Like I said it’s definitely not for me. But I hope it is for some and it’s successful for them.

Honestly, I do not think there are people clamoring for yet another line of statues. Particularly, ones with original designs that are not based on any previous media.

I 100% agree.

Guys,

We decided to take a step back with this. We are getting another artist take to over the model as the current artist is unable to continue at a steady pace. And yes, we are going to make this better and we wont release it until its good enough.

I believe in you guys. Take your time.

That sounds like a good idea. Good luck.
