I dunno, the only pure tech person seems to be Panthro. Tygra uses that blaster of his along with his whip and invisibility (don’t know if that can count as magic though) giving him a minor tech use.
Lion-O himself also has an interest in technology but is one of the major magic characters himself with the sword of omens but he’s also the hero of the story as well so it works out I think.
The only ones who don’t touch any technology are Cheetara, Wiley Kat and Wiley Kit.

I like this theory. Perhaps the Tigers and possibly another cat race we haven’t seen (pumas…) decided after Mumm-Ra was overthrown that they didn’t wish to succumb to the King’s rules and left to establish their own city far, far away from Thundera. Then, they were forgotten as time went by and the divide between the cities grew deep.
Maybe Tygra’s parents decided to leave for whatever reason and barely made it to Thundera’s doorstep before dying…leaving a tiger cub for Claudus to adopt. And the whip is actually technological, though ascribed as magic by those (Thunderans) that don’t understand it.
Yeah, I’d prefer an hour time slot for the series. It would solve most of the pacing problems for some episodes I think. That or if there was a guaranteed amount of seasons then they could easily break some of these episodes into 2 to 3 parters.

I seem to say this every week, but this really was the best episode so far. All the Thundercats had their moment to shine in finding the book and each with their own mini fight scene against Mumm-Ra. We got some more cool flashbacks and the first transformation into Mumm-ra’s everliving form.
It also answers my question as to wether or not Mumm-Ra’s wings are a permanent part of his everliving form or just pop out when he needs them.
I would have prefered seeing mumm-ra taking the book and fly away. He was cheaply beaten as like in the old show.
I’m breaking my head trying to tie in the other mutants. I’m dying to see them! Still no clues about them.

Yeah was kind of cheaply beaten, but he did also beat the crap out of all the other cats. The fight with Panthro was cool, as was his fight with Tygra. I think it’s interesting how independent the team fought in this episode. I don’t recall how the fighting really was in the OS, but I seem to recall Lion-o being the only one to square off physically with Mumm-ra. This episode saw each team member kind of split up and take him on individually in order to give Lion-o the time to reach the top. Maybe I’m over analysing, but I liked that approach. I liked this episode a lot, and I can’t wait to get one of those large lizard mech vehicles as a toy. This will be the first time we can kind of army build our enemies for the cats.
Mumm-Ra was always cheaply beaten even back in the OS. He always seems to have a readily available weakness to exploit. In TOS it was the horror of his own evil reflection that would drive him back to his pyramid. Of course now in TNS it seems to be blinding light. This is consistent of his bat-like form I suppose. But it seems like the writers always need a way to pull Mumm-Ra’s plug so to speak.

After watching the ep again and reading this thread and taking part in the Crew chat last night I have a few theories to share here.
First off why were the Thundercats of old working with Mumm-Ra? I am really fond of the Idea that Mumm-Ra Genetically created all the different Mutant races and his final (most powerful) version were the Thundercats. (sorry small tangent but i just realized Pikachu is a literal “Thunder” “cat” :eek:
:o…) These Thundercats were made with an unfortunate flaw (from Mumm-Ra’s perspective) in that they were more nobel than Mumm-Ra and after serving their “Master” and finding him to be evil they then turned on him and sealed him away. They at this point forsake Technology because it was the source of their Evil Masters Power and what drove his evil ambitions. So they therefore wanted nothing to do with it. They instead embraced an Amish-like way of life. No high-tech but some mechanical knowledge to progress their society. They did however retain some Super tech as it was to dangerous just to leave it behind. The War Stone and other Omens Artifacts were then passed off as sorcery and magic not as Super tech. This bring me to my personal theory that the Sword of omens itself is a piece of tech. Can you say Nanobots! They will respond to to brain impulses of the one who wields it. It is also encoded to only respond to those of a specific Genetic code. The Lions are the only ones that can access all the special abilities which is why they have remained the Ruling Class. The other Thundercats have nanites in their genetic make up. Which is why they “respond” to its call. This is also the reason Mumm-ra cant touch it. His DNA was coded for complete Lock out. Sight beyond sight is a combination of memory files and Satellite Tracking. Not to mention hopefully an early warning threat detection system. Furthermore the Power source for this Nanite Network (probably Mumm-Ra’s greatest Creation as it would insure his control over all his creations) is the Eye of Thundera/war stone as we saw it already being used as a power source for the Honkin Space Cannon we saw in the flashback.
From other sources their will be other Power stones that will unlock greater power of the sword. I will assume these either replenish the Eye’s actual power or provide new programing to the nanobots that make up the sword giving them more ability or greater efficiency.

yes ships shooting at each other in space is simple compared to explaining the back story for 3 planets, thundera, plun-darr, and 3rd earth. but creating a rich history for 3 planets isn’t very difficult but’s slightly more complex than spaceships shooting at each other.

Why does the Tiger have to be a traitor? There was also a Lion beside Mumm-Ra and we all know the Lions are the royal family.
I’m sorry, but I hate that theory. The whole theme of the show is magic and technology together and if you make it so all the magic is really tech in disguise that completely destroys it.
And guys, just because Tygra didn’t use his whip doesn’t mean he didn’t have it with him. Kit didn’t use her flute this episode or the last. Are you going to assume she lost it after playing it in petalars too?
I don’t know who wrote it earlier but it is far more likely that he had it in his pocket the whole time and just did not use it till now.
The simplest answer is usually the correct one.

What’s hilarious though is when Mumm-Ra took on his Ever-Living form and started attacking the 'Cats, I couldn’t help but think of RPGs where the boss evolves into a new form. All I was thinking was like “Oh great, now his attacks affect the whole area instead of just one person!”
But yes, it is nice to see that Tygra remembers he has a whip and knows how to use it. I was like “FINALLY!” when he used it.
there was also a lion by mumm-ra’s side in the flashback so it wouldn’t just be the tiger clan. though i’m pretty sure all the thundercat clans were in league with mumm-ra not just the tiger and lion clans.
