I do hope we learn more about both Tygus and the Lion that was beside Mumm-Ra. I found myself really liking the Lion’s design and there was a quiet dignity to him. I couldn’t help but think, “This looks like a good guy. Why is he working with Mumm-Ra?”
Maybe the tiger clan has a linage like those in LotR… I can picture Tygra saying: “I’m Tygra, son of Tygee, son of Tygus…” lol
Seriously, if the TCs ever allied with Mumm-Ra, even if it was long ago, they would know about technology. So my theory is Mumm-Ra erased it from their memories for giving their backs at him… and those cats were indeed Claudus and Tygra’s father. That’s why Lion-o always believed in technology, because it was there in his collective unconscious (Jung anybody?)
Does anyone remember an old NES (as in “8-bit 80s”) game called Crystalis? Because Mumm-Ra’s everliving form kind of reminded me of the penultimate boss (Draygon (true form)).
Also gotta give props to Robin Atkin Downes for giving everliving Mumm-Ra a slightly deeper, more menacing voice than decayed Mumm-Ra.
They did know about technology. But it has been so long since anyone had seen working tech that they thought of it as a myth. It wasn’t real to them anymore.
This, sooo good. Also liked the traps and stuff giving most of the cast some time to shine all in the same ep.
Yeah, that got some laughs out of me when they did that and even more when WilyKit started really egging him on with the kissing gesture/sounds lol.
Loved that, it was good seeing that Mumm-Ra would have totally defeated them at this point and that they’ve still got work to do before they’re ready, more to look forward to 
Oh man, flashback to Mumm-Ra and the cats executing a planetary invasion with ships and Mumm-Ra seemingly leading the cats back then, can’t wait for more flashbacks to get the rest!

Yeah I’d like to see them start to solidify how the summoning is going to work in the show soon now that they’re starting to use it more.
True, I liked that it felt fast so it really didn’t throw of the timing of that fight but it could have been a little more impact, then again he certainly wasn’t lacking in impact after the transformation which totally made up for it. As you said, I guess the trees and timing and such of the forest negated enough of the light that his robe was just enough.
Yeah loved that he started using it and looked damn cool doing so, but I admit it would have felt better had they had set it up since it felt like he lost the whip after the premiere and getting his armor. It was still really cool but based on what they said prior to the show I was expecting we’d get more clarity at what the characters have with them and when.
It was great, loved how it failed a few times too (also the way the music got all epic only to comedically fizzle out was fantastic, I love that effect). Glad to see he had some trouble with it at first even if I was expecting the trouble to come more from some fear over what he had seen the first time, but it was the same result, multiple tries to get the hang of it.
The teamwork and them each looking out for each other worrying about the other mid-battle with Mumm-Ra for the first time was great to see starting to develop. Cheetara had an awesome showing throughout too and Tygra got a great helping of good action again, and the kittens had a few nice moments of helping and hindering, great stuff.
Totally agree on Mumm-Ra.
After watching again and noticing some things about Tygra, and looking at the theories on here of what could have happened with the Tiger and Lion clans, if the Tigers chose to keep technology, Tygra’s invisibility very well could be of tech origin. I noticed when Tygra turned invisible there was a distinct ‘tech’ sound. And when Mumm-Ra shot the almighty mouth beam at Tygra it looked like his invisibility ‘shorted out’ with sound. I could be wrong, but just going on observations.
Just a quick thought I just had.
Perhaps the Book is blank because Lion-O might have to use the sword to go inside it like in the OS.
The next episode is called “Legacy.” We haven’t seen a plot synopsis for it yet, but I’m starting to think maybe Lion-O goes inside the book and information might be revealed to him in there.

How the heck did Did Mumm-Ra drive his “Mumm-bler” out into the middle of the forest to a secret side cave leading to the Tower of Omens???
And it was a side cave that Slithe was just standing outside as well…
They couldn’t find this place for generations yet it was like 20 seconds drive from Mumm-Ra’s place?
And in the Tower of Omens back story the tower was supposed to be protected by magic that nobody could get through, yet this magic barrier wasn’t anywhere to be seen when they went to the tower?
Everyone just walked right in, even Mumm-Ra…
Made no sense…unless this wasn’t the Tower of Omens at all.
And why would you hide a book in the open at the top of a tower when you’re hiding it from a guy who can fly??? Herp de Derp…
It’s probably the reason he turned against Mumm-ra. Yeah, I’m assuming it was that generation that sealed Mumm-ra up and the lion became the first King of the Thundercats. Of course we have no idea about how the they lived before joining Mumm-ra, so there could of been King’s beforehand too. Also, he probably thought technology was a bad thing after that and went back to the old fashion way of living.
Tygus on the other hand, seemed to have the vibe of being completely loyal to Mumm-ra and pretty good with the technology. Might of been hard for him to give it up.
I could see the lion and Tygus being thought of highly by the rest of the Cats but when the revolt starts the Lion leads the Cats to victory, while Tygus and his clan stayed loyal to Mumm-ra and only re-joined the Cats after his defeat. Perhaps, Tygus could of been the king if he joined the revolt from the start? Would certainly fit the Tygra/Lion-O dynamic we have now.
The tower itself was hidden. After it was revealed by Lion-O it’s protections were no longer needed.
But it still had a side cave that Mumm-Ra just walked down to get in it???
He didn’t go through the same way as the rest, he couldn’t have because all the traps had been tripped as they went through.
Good point, maybe Lion-o will get inside the book and he will learn about their ancestors.
Other options is that maybe he needs to use sight beyond sight to read it or maybe they need the Key of Thundera like in the OS, although I’m not sure if the key exists in this series.
Whatever it is with the name “Legacy” for the next episode I think we can expect more flashbacks about the history of the thundercats (at least I hope so).
He didn’t have to go that way. He had Jaga in that lantern to tell him right where the Tower was. He just waited for Lion-O to reveal it.
Slithe had the ‘Jaga compass’. Mumm-Ra’s magic was compelling him to show the way but Jaga was resisting. Slithe didn’t even know where he was.
The time it took for Mumm-Ra to travel from his pyramid to Slithe is unknown.
Perhaps the ancient ‘enchantments’ were the obstacles on the way to the tower and the facts that it was both hidden and no one but the clerics knew where it was.
The idea was that he would never find the tower in the first place, so it wouldn’t matter. They felt it was hidden and protected sufficiently.
Slithe had to have been already right outside the cave though…
He was complaining that Jaga didn’t know the way, and yet they were stood right outside the cave when Mumm-Ra turned up in his new tank.
I know they had to fit a lot in but the episode was really poorly edited in places, with both groups just finding the towers location almost by accident.
They built up this epic journey out to the Tower of Omens that nobody can find and it’s just randomly behind some vines or down a cave.
It all felt a bit rushed IMO.
Tonight’s episode was very good and like most of you, I agree that the flashback leaves a lot of questions, like who that quiet lion was, standing next to Mumm-Ra. Did anybody catch the eye piece that Captain Tygus wore over his right eye? It reminded me of the Sayians’ scouters in DragonBall Z.
Speaking of which, I honestly doubt that Captain Tygus, and the lion, next to Mumm-Ra were closely related to Claudus and Tygra, as this happened several generations ago in the series. Captain Tygus and the lion were probably distant relatives of Lion-O, Claudus and Tygra. After all, Claudus himself stated that it was the ancestors of the ThunderCats who defeated Mumm-Ra.
With that, my speculation is that after Mumm-Ra was defeated by ancient ThunderCats, Technology was banished from Thundera, by the ancient Lord of the ThunderCats because he saw technology used for evil, and didn’t think it could be used for good.
Now, as for the Book of Omens itself: I don’t see Lion-O, using the Sword of Omens to get inside the book, much like the original series, but rather, using the Sword of Omens’ sight beyond sight to properly view its contents. Somehow, this series is pointing to that direction, and not the direction of being sucked into the Book of Omens, when using the Sword of Omens.
Obviously Grune was not the first Thundarian to betray the throne. Liked the episode though it felt a bit too rushed in parts. It was great seeing Tygra using both his invisibility and bolo whip though. Mumm-Ra’s mobile Mad Max sarcophagus is a real hoot!
And to think that if it wasn’t for old Snarf the ThunderCats would never have even found what they were looking for.

I gotta say i loved this episode. Everything still feels kinda rushed though. Giving the backstory that they did travel so far etc etc they hardely ever did nothing to get there, at least not on screen time.
Loved the fights against Mumm-Ra it was epic seeing him transform again! Can’t say much more that has been said already but it was all awesome imo.

Things are really moving at a pace now. How many seasons have they got planned for it?
The one thing that gets me is that Mumm-ra said he plucked the stone from stronger hands than Lion-o’s. Yet all it took was one Tiger to mow down about 20 squid people!! They didn’t come across as strong to me.
I’d like to see more of the squid people. Their design looked kind of cool.
Does anyone know if Monkian and Rataro are due to make an appearance in the new show?

Maybe it had nothing to do with the Tigers being evil or them betraying the crown.
Maybe the Thunderians spilt in to two groups one that followed the lions and gave up tech and embraced magic. And another that embraced tech and gave up magic. It might make sense that if the Tiger clan is more say the Vulcans and the logic and science leaning of the Thunderians embraced tech and their mind abilities and forbid magic.
Maybe finding Tygra as a cub was the catalyst for Claudus to go looking for the book. That everyone thought the Tiger clan was nothing but legends until they stumbled on a baby Tygra.
They could be showing the spilt we always saw in the T-cat OS series too. The Thundercats were the balance between science and magic. You saw that play out alot between Tygra and Pathro vs. Cheetara and Lion-o in the OS.
In this series that balance is gone.
The Thunderians we know embraced magic and cast away tech. Maybe there’s another group of Thunderians out there that did the very opposite. They left say went to the other side of the planet and embraced tech and cast away magic.
