Just re-watched it (I’m lucky enough to get Cartoon Network East and West plus I have a DVR so no missed eps for me! HAHA!)

[li]Holy crap the flashback. Just who was that Tiger and that Lion? MUST. KNOW. MORE. ABOUT. PAST. NEED TO KNOW BADLY LIKE YESTERDAY.[/li][li]Like seriously who was that lion guy?! OS Lion-O? I wanna know so bad! >_< He was awesome looking even though he just stood there and blinked a couple times.[/li][li]WHY WERE THE CATS HELPING MUMM-RA?! ARRGH MUST KNOW. (Okay Lynxi…time to move away from the flashback before you give yourself an aneurysm)[/li][li]The “King” dude (lion with the beard, Claudus?) was totally rocking a version of OS Lion-O’s armor (with the hole in the abdomen showin’ off his 6/8-pack)[/li][li]Cheetara helping Lion-O get his sword to work…sometimes I wish my mind didn’t have a permanent residence and vacation home in the gutter.[/li][li]I liked the trials. Practically everyone got to be useful somehow.[/li][li]Panthro being afraid of water 'cause he can’t swim…well at least it makes just a teeny bit more sense than Tygra not being able to swim (tigers are known to be excellent swimmers)[/li][li]Little gripe here: Okay you heard Panthro can’t swim, and he’s flailing around in the water and you don’t help him UNTIL HE STARTS DROWNING? What the h***, heroes? At least help him stay afloat![/li][li]Cheetara was useful in this ep. With the least offense meant to Cheetara fans, I’m sorry, I’ve never been that fond of her, but now she’s grudgingly earning respect points from me. Her using her super speed to get to the top of the tower was AWESOME.[/li][li]Mumm-Ra can fly in his Ever-Living form, did anyone else think “Oh ***” because that somehow makes him even more formidable.[/li][li]And the book is blank! DUN DUN DUN. I think Lion-O will have to go through his Trials and officially become Lord of the Thundercats like in the OC and then somehow the Book’s contents will be revealed. I dunno.[/li][/ul]
Overall, super impressed with this ep. I was sitting straight up in bed barely blinking. My only gripe: it’s only on for a half hour.
Wow, this ep left me breathless. Seeing that the cats once worked under Mumm-Ra is intriguing indeed. I does make sense that the cats most likely turned on him and forsook his technology(those that wished), took the Warstone from him (renamed it the eye of Thundera) and set up their rule. Can’t wait to see more of the story behind it.
Not that I didn’t before, but I now officially love Cheetara. So much of her personality stood out in this; her confidence, her being the inspiration and reasoning for Lion-O(much like in the the OS but stronger here). Her utter belief in him may be why she responded to the sword’s call as she did.
Great to see everyone get a piece of the fight in this, I cringed at the shot(s) Tygra took, Lion-O getting decimated by Mumm-Ra, and of course Jaga’s sacrifice(Mumm-Ra’s “defeat” in this reminded me of when Lion-O first ran into Mumm-Ra in the OS and the only reason Lion-O won was because of the reflection weakness(read: luck)) The light weakness was a bit confusing but if it is just very bright light that affects him then I suppose it’s not so bad, I just hope it doesn’t become the defacto method of defeat.
Mumm-Ra, simply put, is badass. Even though there was not much to the transformation animation itself, seeing this small mummy that just tried to go one on one with Panthro, transform into this hulking monster that dwarfs said Panthro and then proceeds to easily take out the Thundercats…it was just great to see. Along with the deviousness of his character…this Mumm-Ra is going to be tough to deal with…all the time.
I lol’d on the Cheetara/Lion-O moment and Panthro revealing he can’t swim.(I don’t know why I found that funny I guess I didn’t expect that weakness and for him to have it.)
My only gripe is that I wish they wouldn’t have a bloody cliffhanger every week! Can’t wait til the next episode!

Does everyone do other things while watching these eps or something?? There was a lion with Mumm-ra as well. It was all the cats who served Mumm-ra. And that wasn’t Claudus and Tygra’s father. That scene took place like hundreds of years ago. Or more.
Yes. I too love Cheetara sooo much for all of these reasons.
But y’know, that makes sense, the reason her eyes glowed when he called being that she was the only one who truly believed in him. That really makes sense.
Yeah, it was more like Tygra’s great-great grandfather than his father. Most Cats would know of technology if the flashback happened a short time ago.
But I think the other point was just thinking out loud about the idea that the Tiger clan stayed loyal to Mumm-ra when the other Cats(led by the Lion?) revolted against him. Mumm-ra did have to have a lot of faith in the Tiger(Anyone catch his name?) to give him that important assignment.
It would make the Lion-O/Tygra relationship even more complicated than it already is and makes one wonder about the details of Tygra’s adoption if it were true.
It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who thought that her eyes glowed because of Lion-o’s calling with the sword.

Hmm I didn’t interpret it as jealousy at first, I thought that Cheetara gave Tygra something to think about but now that you mention it, maybe Tygra was indeed jealous and with Panthro’s comment about drooling maybe there will be a love triangle after all (for better or for worse :p).
One thing I didn’t understand. Panthro drowned and found a gate beneath him, in the floor, and when opened it, he was above the others who were already at the roof? That was weird.
Tygra doesn’t need to wrap his whip around him to become invisible.
Cheetara’s best episode so far. So she got this one, Panthro the last one; I’m looking forward for Tygra getting the next one.
A good episode, with some of the OS’ vibe finally.
Yes, I saw the lion, but we do’t know how long does a TC live. That could have been a very young Claudus and a very young Tygus. Maybe Claudus regretted and tried to talk Tygus away from Mumm-Ra’s, he refused and somehow died. Claudus knew Tygus had a son and adopted him. It’s possible.
We saw that in the first episode, he did not wrap the whip around him to become invisible in that fight against other cats.
I really really doubt that lion (or the one that was with the old cleric) was Claudus, if it was him how do you explain that he did not know anything about technology?, he even saw a missile and said “what sorcery is this” that would be something dumb for him to say if he already traveled in a spaceship don’t you think? and Grune told him “How are you going to defeat technology if you don’t even understand it?”
My guess is that those were the thundercats that originally defeated Mumm-ra as ClauduS said “The book told that it was the Thundercats, our ancestors who first defeated mumm-ra”
Had to work through the east coast broadcast. Had the VCR programmed to record it, but of course the power went out and wiped the VCR’s programming. Fortunately, got to see the west coast broadcast (I heart Dish Network).
Only thing I can think of to add at this point: Maybe the Book can be read with Sight beyond Sight?
If it was Claudus he would’ve known technology existed and wouldn’t be like “I believe the book is real” in last week’s episode because he’d know the book was real.
Anyway I’ve asked the crew blog if they can provide a time line for the flashbacks. Lets hope they’re allowed give one to us to clear up confusion.
I just thought of another show this one reminded me of. Anyone remembers the old Dungeons and Dragons show? It was loosely based on LotR of course. Now Mumm-Ra looked a lot like Venger, and the Tcs habilities, and even their personalities, perfectly fit the roles of that gang: Lion-o being Hank, the archer; Panthro is Bobby, the barbarian; Cheetara is Diana, the acrobat; Tygra is Eric, the cavellier (with all the funny / shameful things happening to him); today Wilykat reminded me of Sheela, the thief I guess Wilykit wll be a sort of Presto, the magician; and Snarf is Uni.
Thank you. I wonder if it means anything that he got named, perhaps we’ll get more of his role in the revolt down the road, or if it was just the shows way of hinting at the probable connection to Tygra.
Of course he won’t be exactly the same character, but based on him. Think of it:
he’s jealous of Lion-o, just like Eric was jealous of Hank.
he gets scolded or proved wrong more than less.
he gets involved in funny situations, like the “shut that mouth” line, or Panthro grabbing him upside down by the ankle and he wagging in the air… it was too Eric if you think about it.
I’m not saying the characters are exactly the same, just that you can make a very good analogy between them.
