"Journey To The Tower Of Omens" - Official Talkback Thread! (CONTAINS SPOILERS!)

I give this episode a 10/10 off top. I am a sucker for flashback episodes or episodes that deal with a character or objects past/origin. This was the best episode to date in my opinion. I loved the glimpse into Mumm-Ra’s past and how he first came upon the jewel that would become the eye of Thundera. i found it interesting that at one time he worked alongside what appeared to be Thunderians at one time and even what appeared to be a young Claudus. So far this series has everything that Transformers Prime, G.I. Joe Renegades, and Voltron Force is lacking… just my two cents.

I gotta admit I am drooling with anticipation and hope that we indeed find out Mumm-Ra’s past ties to Claudus and the individual who could have been Tygra’s real father or kin. I also can’t wait to find out what is really in the book of omens… surely the text will appear with a special incantation or the sword itself.

You know in the reality there is a reason why we have cops and soldiers using guns and not using swords no matters how cool that could be.

This is just a story.

I was pointing out against the mutants heavily armored vehichles we’ve seen that handgun ain’t doing squat.

My guess is that Cheetara’s eyes glowed because she’s a Cleric and her powers & closer linked to the Power of the Sword of Omens than it is for the rest of them.

Ok this may have been answered as I am writing this before reading the rest of the posts but I Just gotta say… What chu takin bout Willis!

Swimming with armor is not a matter of technique. it is a matter of buoyancy. now it can be done but not for very long. the good news it it is usually considered harder due to the immobilizing factor of the armor. Their armor is light and does not constrict their movement. so it would be possible to to stay afloat for a bit. whales may weigh tons Cruise ships weigh even more but they both contain something else and that is large amounts of air. which is what they use to stay afloat. to clear this up whales actually expend more energy diving than they do at the surface. The Thundercats however do not have this if anything they might have a bit of an advantage with their fur which can tarp tiny air bubbles and help but for the most part they were relying on the fight or flight response and kicking like heck to stay afloat. do us a favor go treed water for as long a you can. the next day just strap some pots and pans to hang from your shoulders then treed water again I am sure you will find it harder to keep your head as much above water and you will most certainly not be able to go as long.

I guess someone already proposed that Mumm-Ra was a Thundercat. Bad mummy kitty.

That’s why I figured Tygra didn’t do to much to try to help save Pathro. He has the most armor. He was probably working like the devil to simply hold his head above water. Pathro would have dragged them both down. Cheetra didn’t stand a chance of pulling Pathro up. Lion-o who was has less armor would have been the best choice to dive after Pathro for a rescue.

No soup for you.

Yes, but it makes for such conflict. Tiger are bigger than lions overall, especially the Siberian tiger. So why shouldn’t the tigers rule neh.

Leopards are meaner. Have a greater range. Overall are stronger muscle for muscle over both of them. Not to mention very cunning, and opportunistic. Let’s add in those cats are the ulimate surviors.

As for Chetarras Eyes Glowing I think it could have just been a matter of moving the story forward in a short time and they did not have time to show the others eyes glow in this ep. Also for the most part form the OS their eyes only glowed once they actually saw the symbol (I will stipulate that I may be wrong about this as I have never completely analyzed this but from what I do remember this is the case). Their were plenty of times Lion-O extended the sword without calling the others. And when he used it this time I did not see a symbol. So what I am really saying is I have no real clue as to why she was the only one who was shown to have the glowing eye effect but my money is on that is does not mean anything special (as to weather they are real TC’s or not) we will see all their eyes glow in the near future with no real explanation as to why they do now and not then. It is just a simple convention of the show and we need to stop analyzing it to death.

A Convention in this case does not mean a gathering of people. It is a term used in theatre (where I learned it) and in story telling in general that means it is something that may seem out of place in the real world but is accepted as normal in its current context for the purpose of storytelling. Prime example is mime work. You know their is no invisible wall but the convention is that by his/her actions you accept that their is a wall. Just because you don’t see it does not mean it does not or did not exist.

Which bring me to Tygras Whip. Just accept that Tygra made a decision to try and use a new tool for a time instead of his standard tool. I have done this myself. At christmas I get a new tool and for the next few weeks I will use it but in the end I go back to my old favorites that I should have used the whole time. I just want to give this new one a shot to see how it feels.

Merged Post:

Lets just face it The story says Lions rule so lions rule. No real reason. They were most likely chosen because society at the time of concept knew the Lion as the “King” of the jungle. So the Lion is King. I Personally think Dolphins or Dragons Should rule. But that is not what was written. So I will just have to wait for that story to come along someday or write it myself and be happy.

I just want to say I am sorry if I am sounding Cynical right now I know this is all just good fun and debate so I don’t mean to harsh anyones vibe. I am just putting down in writing how I feel at this time about these subjects. So if you like Pay no attention to the Cynical A** H*** behind the curtain.

LOL.

Minny Mumm-Ra should also team up with the little birdie in Spirited Away. Then we could all sing Bye Bye Birdie.

Don’t mind me. It is just the aftereffects of the hurricane winds.

I’m certain it was not Lion-O´s father as that probably happend “generations ago”. Besides if that was him, how can he say in the first episode “what sorcery is this” when he sees the robots etc? That has already been stated in the thread.

That means Ligers should rule! They are massive:

Maybe mating beween female tigers and male lions is forbidden now because of ligers

I would love a large Liger character though, maybe as an evil warrior

See you are one smart man/women!

People do bring up random crazyness they think is out of place. I wonder if these people overanalyze every series they watch? I mean no series is perfect, not everything has to make sense AS we have not watched all of it yet.

Let’s say Tygras armor, how did he get it on?
Who cares? They got capes with the skip, maybe he got that armor. Why did they not mention some people might say? It does not have to be mentioned. IT would jsut make sense to grab some armor and if the rest did not, fine they did not want to carry it around, besides lion-O had armor all the time from my view Tygra just had some fancy clothes.

Armor floats because whales can… I’m going to assume this is an exotic form of trolling, otherwise I would weep for our schools and out country…

Good gracious! That’s a BIG kitty!

Finally caught up with this thread after watching the episode a day and a half after everyone else.

I enjoyed this episode, and all of the new information to digest from the flashbacks. I loved every bit of the flashbacks! Also, it was cool to see Mumm-Ra transform, and Mumm-Ra’s tank. I thought the kittens teasing Lion-O and Cheetara in the beginning was cute, and I loved WilyKat picking the lock in the tower. I also really liked the reunion of sorts they had with Jaga. Very touching, you could see how it affected Cheetara.

As for all the discussion on Tygra, I will say that I think he just liked using the gun for the previous situations. It’s a “new toy” so to speak, and it can do a good deal of damage from a distance. I’d shoot a gun over using a whip if things were attacking me, too. It’s just good to see it again and know that he still has it!

I, too, hope that he’s not being set up to be the bad guy or the Thundercat who always does things wrong, etc. I think Lion-O and Cheetara have potential to be a cute couple, but I’m kind of dreading a love triangle situation if it’s Tygra likes Cheetara but Cheetara likes Lion-O and Lion-O likes her, and it’s just Tygra’s jealousy causing problems. That’s like something out of a cliched Mary Sue/Gary Stu fanfiction, and I don’t want to see it become canon. That said, as long as I don’t feel like anyone is “bashed” in their characterization of it playing out, I can dig the love triangle drama. I like both pairings as a potential end result.

Nah, if Tygra does betray the thundercats and becomes a badguy, I think it’ll be his issues with Lion-O that leaves an opening for him to be influenced by magic in some fashion by Mumm-ra to betray his brother. Otherwise I don’t think he would betray Lion-O in normal circumstances. I also don’t think he’ll be set up as the Thundercat who does things wrong either.

So at the end Jaga ‘sacrifices’ himself to save Lion-O from Mumm-Ra by becoming blinding white light. Can we infer from the green orb that floated to the Book of Omens that Jaga now resides in the Book of Omens? Will he now appear in spectral form to give Lion-O advice ala TOS?

That’s what I inferred from what I saw in that last episode. Seems like Lion-O will need all the advice he can get.. he’s got that whole ‘wet behind the ears’ look about him.
