Just as it is accepted that we don’t see all time go by It is also accepted that the writers write things in a way for the story to progress. If Tygra had tied the whip around Panthro he would not have sunk, found the way through and Saved the others. Just accept it and move on.
Not necessarily if the title was reserved for clerics and special warriors/heroes.
Maybe Claudus thought of anointing Panthro and Grune when the came back with the Book of Omens (which never happened).
As for Tygra, maybe being a prince wasn’t enough reason to be a TC as it didn’t necessairly come with a heroic action (not to mention that he wasn’t a noble by birth, which might have influenced)… or maybe Tygra was out of age? Maybe he needed to get older to be anointed?
I think when Panthro said he couldnt stay afloat cause he didnt knew how to swim, Tygra could have throw it and Panthro hold on to it or even as he was sinking try to reach the surface and grab it. Additionally he could have dive in and when he was close throw the whip with enough force to use the whip’s tips as a projectile and since I think the tips must weight something, they are not rubber, with enough force the tips could follow a trajectory before losing motion and beging to float.
What I don’t get is… how did Lion-o and Tygra get to maintain themselves floating with those heavy armors over them? ![]()
Yes, I know that. I know he didnt ‘use it’ that time for plots sake, that just was an example of how beneficial his whip is, but he didnt use it never until he fought Mumm-ra, but how about all the other times?
I dont mind if the writers say that it was an inconstency, it happens but to come w/ that story that he had all this time? and didnt find it advantageous to use it before? come on.
Lion-o did jump to the rescue first so why would Tygra, assuming the king got it covered, throw his whip if Lion-o was in the way and risk whipping him lol. Does that work for everyone else?
Thanks for sharing that. I didn’t know. ![]()
Good question! ![]()
That’s kind of true. Tygra got tied with it several times, but same with Panthro with either his nun chucks or his poles (the ones in his armor), and even Cheetara with her bo stuff. Although I’ll give it to you that the whip was the most used-against-its-owner weapon (but not for much).
Also, I think a whi could be a very useul, practical weapon if used well. It can be used from a long distance, it can (as you said) break necks, but also grab someone by the arm, leg, waist, etc, disarm someone by hitting the hand holding the weapon, knock out if used to hit the proper parts of the body, etc.
But they weren’t swimming, they were just floating. If a whale decided to float, it will no doubt sink.
The only time so far an army has been on their tail was at then end of the petalars but how about when they fought the trackers? He could have use it to take away their weapons, tied them up and render them useless or even grab the gekko before cloaking so they knew where it was, or take them off guard when hitting them w/ the whip giving you advantage and time to shoot them, hows that impractical? same applies when they went to the cave.

Agreed! his whip aint impractical!

Could be. Hell, Maybe even Lion-o wasnt a TCat since he was still in traning. He became a TCat when Jaga declared him Lord of the TCats and blessed his claw shield. Maybe thats why Jaga was so adamant on doing it at that moment.
Aside from all the weapons talk, this is my favorite episode thus far. I think I’ll watch it again tonight! The only gripe I have is the spatial relationships among Lion-O, Mummra and Cheetara in the last scene. In some shots, they are far apart. In others, they are practically standing over one another.
Panthro’s escape scene was kinda dodgy. I still don’t understand how the water didn’t drain when he opened the hatch thingy or whatever it was. Then he appears somewhere above the other TCats seconds later.
Nice illustration Balgus82. I thought the hatch was in the floor but I guess I need to watch it again.
But only at TCats Lair do you get blue prints and in depth analysis like this!
When he saw it he was looking to his right, not down, so it had to be on the wall.
I was thinking the same, it seems very odd at first but when you think about it, nah.

As for the tiger-lion-mumm-ra scene: I think there was an alliance between the cats and Mumm-Ra for some reason and Mumm-Ra betrayed them.
And as for Tygra, I think he is adopted. I imagine Claudus making a promise to Tygra’s father, who has fallen, to “raise him as if he was my own cub…”
You could be right, May be only clerics(jaga) knew the secrets of the sword and only they were the real thundercats by secret ceremony.
Jaga knew the location of the book, he must have more secrets.

I hope the color was real, I really like that things are really different in this version, if we wanted the same we could see the OS.
There is no reason to not expand the abilities of the sword, please just don’t make the sword the “deus ex machina”.
In the OS when everything was lost, “almost always” the signal saved them

More likely a rebellion of slaves or mutiny of crew against a very evil master or captain or best said a dictator :lionomad:.
Well, in the (short) scene there appears to be no friction or animosity between the cats and Mumm-ra.
Maybe Mumm-Ra and the cats were fighting a common threat from another world (Plun-Darr)?
Just watched the episode again, and I think the passage way that Panthro finds while under water, is inside the ‘fountain’/basin with the coins..
My guess is because she was the one that was truly needed at the time.
Remember last week Pathro it was kind implied saw the signal and/or felt the call and came running with the tank last week?
As for Tygra’s whip he could do a lot of useful things with it. He could extend it and freeze it to shapes to use for ladders ect. But yeah, as a offensive weapon hurling fireballs and the fire rings were about the best he had. Hey, I considered his ablity to control fire once it was lit pretty cool as a kid. But against heavy armored things it wasn’t very pratical. But really I haven’t seen the new gun being all that effective either. ![]()
