The people keeps speaking about Mumm-Ra and how he could be in the light.
But if we look behind Cheetara while she kicks Mummra, we can see that the sky is very cloudy. And as some said before it looks like only bright sunlight can hurts him.
Just as only a full moon transforms a werewolf in some stories but in others they don need it to do it. It time we will find it out, just wait.
Excellent episode. I loved the animation, especially how the water and the waterfalls were done. What a fascinating twist to have Mumm-Ra as Lord of the ThunderCats (likely the very first one) until the Cats overthrew him. The Lion standing beside him is doubtless the one who leads the insurrection against Mumm-Ra, and is how the teenaged Lion-O himself will look as the adult king of Thundera. It’s disappointing they didn’t say what planet the War Stone was on (Mars, as a nod to the ancient Roman god of warfare?) The starfighter that Captain Tygus flew indeed looked like a redesgned Feliner – or the writers could have a little fun with it and call it a Feliner-class ship. I was hoping they would do more with Snarf and the Kittens; they did by having Snarf accidentally uncover the secret entranceway to the Tower of Omens, and by having the Kittens pick the lock of the door. The traps themselves weren’t that ingenious, but they were impressively rendered. ![]()
Ha, Panthro’s now the one who can’t swim! That Cheetara knows so much about the Tower of Omens is no surprise; she’s a Cleric and that organization would teach its students Cleric history, philosophy, legends, and fighting skills. That being said, it was great to see Cheetara use her speed and agility to dodge those bladed pendulums – and does anybody else remember seeing WilyKit doing the same thing in the old “Tower of Traps” story? I too believed Tygra never lost his whip in last week’s “Old Friends” story; he simply didn’t need it at that time, so I suspect there will upcoming episodes where he uses the whip and episodes where he does not. And to me that’s a step up from where the OS writers couldn’t make up their minds whether to have Tygra always use his natural invisibility power or have him depend on the whip for it. ![]()
The fight sequence pitting Lion-O and Cheetara against Mumm-Ra was excellent. That Mummsie in his true form can come so close to killing the ThunderCats proves they must now work that much harder to defeat him. Jaga’s self-sacrifice to save them was expected and powerfully done, showing Mumm-Ra to be a true creature of darkness by having him stripped of his power by Jaga’s blazing life-force. And I don’t at all mind the “Book is blank” cliffhanger at the end of the story; I suspect that when the Book is paired with the Eye of Thundera, it won’t stay blank for long. ![]()

Which is an odd thing for Panthro to say, as Tygra wasn’t even drooling! ![]()
Is a GenericShip (from Pilot Episode) + Feliner:

I remember him repariring it, and also that Pantrho installed intercommunictors in all their weapons, so you might have a point there. I don’t remember the switches though.
From what Dan Norton has said He’s initially still weak from his imprisonment and the sunlight weakness helps reflect that. I suspect as the series goes on and Mumm-Ra gains his full powers back that the light might no longer hinder him.
As for the jet, the cat head and the “legs” when Tygus jumped out were what initially made me think it was the Feliner.
Also, while lions are day, social animals, tigers are nocturnal and loners.
Lions also fight with cheetas… :o
As for th “Chain of Loyalty” episode, Panthro only went for Lion-o because he was the one he found first (ok, he found all of them at the same time, but the kittens, Cheetara and Tygra have been already tied up by Lion-o); maybe if Pnathro ran into the kittens furst, he would have kicked their asses ![]()
I actually think the writers in the OS answered that question. It’s something the Tigers seembed to be able to do. Bengali could vanish to a certain degree too. He just couldn’t seem to do the walking invisible thing. Like Tygra Bengali could disappear with a flash or a smoke bomb.
Lion-o was a moron.
He turned his back to go help Cheetara and left himself wide open to get hit. That was a not thinking move on his part. Mumm-Ra kills him Cheetara is dead anyway. Keep your guard up. Neturalize the threat first. Then go help your teammate.
Claudus really must have ripped his mane out over that boy at times. ![]()
In the heat of battle you might not have time to think about things like that. Especially for someone as inexperienced as Lion-O. He isn’t the battle hardened guy that Panthro is. It was most likely instinctive reflex that Lion-O went after her.
Sword of Omens Scene
In the episode “Journey to the Tower of Omens”, in the scene where the clerics ran out of the castle with the book and that particular king or that age was fighting off the lizards with the sword.
Did anyone else notice that the Sword of Omens was glowing GOLD from end-to-end? I have never seen the entire sword glow gold yet. It didn’t do that for Claudis or Lion-O, yet. I wonder what that meant?
I don’t remember that form Bengali… but might be ebcause I never really cared for him, what he did or what happened to him. Sorry Bengali fans.
Anyway, in “Exodus”, “Pumm-Ra” and the trial of mind power, Tygra turned invisible without the whip, indicating eh was able to do it all by himself.
Which leads me to another inconsistency in the OS. In “Out of Sight”, he couldn’t ruen visible again because he overcharhed the whip. If he just needed it to reforce his natural power, why did he need it to return visible again? Besides, everytime he turned visible again, it wasn’t like the whip was wrapped around him as if he needed to do that to become visible.
There are lots of inconsistencys in the OS. The writers didn’t keep track of all of what came before when they wrote new episodes. It’s just a fact we have to deal with. shrugs
I know, but I also think some things are easier to follow up / repair / explain than others, right? Sometimes it takes one line.
For example, I don’t remember who in the forum (Chris amybe?) said that in the UK run of the OS, they aired “Fireballs of Plun-Darr” after “Safari Joe”, and they added a line where Tygra explained to Willa that, afteh his run into SJ, he decided he must learn to swim. See? Easy ![]()
Glowing Sword of Omens
Here’s the image I was talking about in regards to the glowing sword.
I’ve never seen it turn GOLD like this for Lion-O or Claudis. I wonder why it’s gold?

Okay, I don’t know if I should take this seriously or if your just trying to troll people.
#1: It’s a cartoon. It’s only 22 minutes long. You REALLY think it was a 20 second drive for Mum-Ra? Would you rather the writers of the show dedicated 12 episodes to Mum-Ra’s 6 hour drive? It is undisclosed how long it took. There is no need to show how long it too Mum-Ra to get there. It doesn’t show everyone when they eat, sleep, pee, and groom themselves either. Should they show all of that too? Seriously! None of that stuff is important. The writers of the show assume that the viewers are smart enough to figure out that time as elapsed. It’s a common practice in television shows and movies. Elapsed time is implied.
#2: I have a screen shot of the lizard army looking for the tower. I see no signs that they were standing right next to it. In fact Mum-Ra took the lantern the beam of light was shining out a great distance away. Take a look at the screenshot. I don’t see any Tower of Omens next to the lizard army. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31112801@N05/6087697796/
#3: And hiding a book out in the open? Mum-Ra just walked in? Did you watch the episode with your eyes closed? Mum-Ra waited for the Thundercats to already pass through all of the barriers. Mum-Ra had Jaga in the lamp to lead him to where he was wanting to be. And in case you missed it, the Tower of Omens was back inside a rock wall, beneath a waterfall. I wouldn’t call that, “out in the open”.
Man! I bet Mumm-ra’s fans must be going crazy w/ this bad ass version. He doesnt only drive a tank but can duke it out w/ Panthro in decayed form, for a mummy he sure aint fragile.
I guess the reason why only cheetara’s eyes glowed was cause she’s the only one who truly believe in Lion-o and respect him as lord of the TCats. When the others do the same they will answer the call.
In respect of Tygra’s whip, I dont buy the ‘I did have it all this time but I didnt want to use it’ You better be playing because how cant you not see the benefit of that weapon? He could have should it countless times, countless times! but he decided it was a waste of time to take it out… maybe he didnt want to use it againts the lizards but how about helping a friend? When Panthro was sinking to his death Tygra could have used his whip like a rope or even tied him with it and try to pull him up, but I guess he didnt want to use it. They shouldnt come up w/ a lame excuse like that.
Might also be because -justa theory-, as a cleric, she’s so far the ONLY Thundercat. I mean, no one has anointed Tygra, Pantrho or the kittens as TCs, but maybe Jaga did it to Cheetara and the rest of the clerics.
That whole flashback had a blurry green/gold tint to it. I assume it’s just part of that effect.
He could have also taken it out when they found Grune in last week’s ep, not necessarily to use ot but to be ready in case he needed to do it ok, he could habe doe it with the gun as well). I mean (again) in the OS, he did it a lot: took the whip put, stretched it to intimidate foes or be ready, but sometimes not using it at all; same with Pantrho and Cheetara with the nun chucks and bo stuff respectively.
So you’re saying Tygra should’ve been able to use a whip…underwater? o.O
Hmm… not bad but you would think Tygra and Panthro would have been anointed TC by Claudus as Tygra was his son and a Prince and Panthro was one of the most famous generals, he was an elite.
