Is thundercats fandom slowing dying? or is it near dead already?

well the only good thing from those new designs was the fact lion-o now wore pants and pumyra’s outfit was all right. lol As for the reboot, lucky, it was NOT a great show. No matter how many times you insist it was you’re not going to change the reality that it wasn’t.

It has some good parts but the story was awful

maybe it wasn’t a great show for you, for others it was: taste is subjective, that’s just fact.
guess what, the next series - and at this point in time, that’s a big IF - that comes out is going to take inspirations from what came previously: the 85 series, the 02 comic series…and the 11 series, plus any new stuff the writers/producers will add be that myth, world, or character building. And that’s how it should be: grow, experiment, try new things.

For all we know the next 'Cats might end up being squarely aimed at kids…so I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a comedy gag-style show like Teen Titans GO or Mighty Megaswords.
And people will still complain about the changes, even thought such changes might finally make TC relevant again and has worked for other show like TMNT, MLP, DC/Marvel, and TF.
Preferably I wouldn’t mind a new show in either Netflix’s Voltron Legedary Defender or Castlevania style; as you can see shows that are pretty much opposites in tone and style.

Also not letting the property wallow in obscurity is the biggest factor in keeping it alive.

If they made thundercats like teen titans go I am going to completely give up on all hope in humanity. Nobody is saying that the series has to be exactly like the original but turning it into something like the reboot didn’t do it any favors. There are cartoons today that aren’t utter garbage and don’t have that generic art style most cartoons have today. I mean there is a reason Young Justice is getting a 3rd season and if they FINALLY continue the Swat Kats series it will probably get the same treatment the last season of samurai jack got and that wasn’t a big thing. You can make a kid’s show more mature but you don’t have to completely change what made it work.

I don’t really understand your post regarding letting other shows have all the glory.
TMNT, MLP, Star Wars Clone Wars / Rebels, Transformers Prime etc all those have had glory because they were handled correctly as far as character, plot and toy marketing etc. Well I would argue Transformers toy marketing has been odd the last several years.
The reason Thundercats never got the glory of those other shows is down to WB and the creative team they hired to work on the show.
If WB want Thundercats to have the glory of the other shows they just need to follow their examples and get a better creative team to work on the next Thundercats show that understand what exactly WB want regarding which audience they want to target and what merchandise like toys etc they want to sell to fans.

That’s true , plus I have to agree with grumpykats , maybe another tc reboot would be alright, but some of us still wish for a continuation project for the 2011 series. Really? They might be well beloved today, plus I do enjoy them very much, but it’s starting to become a bit toxic! did you know there some mlp characters who are heavily modeled after real life pop stars from lady gaga to justin bieber? Bieber!!

Yeah I have to agree with grumpykat. I also enjoy them both very much. But I’m started to losing interested them because they’ve started gotten a bit toxic, and there’s
also other good shows like rick and North, steven universe , the amazing world of gumball, star vs evil, gravity falls. Etc.

This 100%. Regardless of what animation style and who the next series is aimed at we can all at least agree that WB have to take the risk and do something worthwhile with the brand too keep it relevant.

The 2012 TMNT series has been very successful. I think they decided to end it at a good time. The current 5th season has been very enjoyable but there it’s ending after this season then they are launching a new 2D animated cartoon aimed at a younger audience.

I’ve been thinking would cartoon network have exclusive rights(contract?) to broadcast the thundercats on there network, so if they did make another reboot they could have to give cartoon network the right to broadcast and ultimately ruin that series, pretty sure I can speak for all on this we don’t want ThunderCats to go back to that network but I hope I’m wrong. I feel we might be waiting a long time for another ThunderCats cartoon

Pretty sure but Certain Unfortunately no, this is something I heard from someone. Unfortunately rather it was said by someone working on bringing back these older cartoons or one of the CEO’s there is always a possibility there lying. kinda like adding to the hype generating interest. so it doesn’t really matter if Norton said it(which I’m pretty sure it was him) or anyone else but it was like 6 years ago

They gave them the licence only then for Mattel to cancel the line before the first figure was actually released. Not to mention they did a very poor job on the figures making them all out of scale with Pumyra being huge and towering over everyone. I still haven’t gotten my hands on that mumm-ra figure. Being poor sucks, but someday I will. Why did they cancel it anyway? What was the point of doing that? People were interested.
