I think they knew they fucked up and made fans angry so instead of being mature and admitting it they just canceled it, IMO. Probably the excuse they tell them self’s is there’s no thundercats fans anymore to justify there cancellation. Would be pretty said if that were true
obviously there isn’t if fans got mad about the toys. XD What they need to do is create Thundercats figmas. Those things are great!
The reason a lot of the fans were mad about the toys was the fact that Mattel really didn’t put the effort. Their Classics line was just a side project/sub line to their MOTUC figures.
Fans wanted cartoon accurate figures. People can say what they want but the Thundercats Classics were not accurate. Jackalman wasn’t huge and bulky, Panthro wasn’t the same size as Lion-O and Pumyra wasn’t taller than everyone. And they made all of them on the awful dated MOTUC buck bodies.
Not to mention the fact that the only way to get them was through Mattel and Digital River.
It was really strange as Matty/Mattel and 4 Horsemen always claimed to be such huge fans and wanted to make Thundercats yet when they had the chance to get the licence back in 2009/2010 for the 2011 series they could have got it then and been making the figures when MOTUC was selling well. Instead they waited until MOTUC was in it’s final year and all the main MOTU characters had been made.
I would love some Figma or Figuarts Thundercats. Most of the Figma and Figuarts figures I have seen look amazing but I have never owned any of them.
I heard a rumour there is a possibility that Mezco might be making some other Thundercats figures that aren’t those Mega Scale figures.

Figmas would be so great for these guys. It’s a shame they haven’t made any of them yet since they’ve made figmas of a lot of things, including Toy Story figures and even Rorschach from Watchmen. The only thing we can do is hope some day they will make them, even if figma’s are a bit pricey it will be worth it.

If a product is good and of high quality etc the high price can be justified.
The Mattel MOTUC and Thundercats Classics were marketed and sold as high quality adult collectibles but they really were not.
Regardless of 4 Horsemen sculpting them etc the fact us they were just heads and accessories put on old MOTUC buck bodies…with the exception of Mumm-Ra and the Kittens. Then of course there is the issue of the numerous quality control issues.
When mass retail collector lines like Hasbro’s Star Wars Black Series, DC Collectibles, Marvel Legends, Diamond Select and NECA figures are all have unique sculpts with superior articulation, paint, sculpt and multiple accessories and in the case of DST a display stand/diorama, there is no way the price of the Mattel figures could be justified.
Lion-O for example came with two swords, two clawshields (one to wear and one with a sword that was extremely prone to breaking when removing it from the belt) and one extra hand…not even a hand in a different pose jut a slightly wider grip…which is kind of ironic since nearly every figures tighter gripping right hand couldn’t even hold the sword.
At that price Lion-O should have be came with a couple different sets of hands and maybe an alternate head with a different facial expression perhaps as if he was doing his Thundercats Ho! shout…although considering the body’s articulation was so limited I doubt there would be much point in that since his two arms couldn’t even be moved to hold the sword like he did in the show.
Well let’s just hope for the best. I do want a remake of thundercats as long as it’s good.
Let’s just pray it doesn’t take 30 years this time

WB should follow Voltron’s example.
The Voltron Force 2011 series was also a failure.
Yet the 2016 reboot was very successful.

World Event Productions as far as I know.
They also have a hand in Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, and with the success of this new Voltron maybe…just maybe a new Star Sheriff?
They can make it into a Voltron/Star Sheriff universe…because shared universes are all the rage.

Not a bad idea then with the whole cowboys in space theme. Maybe they could acquire the rights to Bravestarr and Galaxy Rangers. :rolleyes::biggrin
Voltron in a shared Universe would be very cool. A lot of the old 70’s super robot cartoons like Grendizer, Getter Robo and Mazinger etc had a shared universe. Imagine a modern version of Daltanious. Fun fact when WEP original purchased the Japanese cartoons to import to the US, they said to the Japanese animation company they wanted the Lion cartoon meaning Daltanious but they made a mistake and thought they meant Voltron/Beast King Go Lion.
I would love Netflix to do a continuation of the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon as a series or movie.

a new D&D series, live action or animated, would be great. all the possible settings they can use for it: from Dragonlance or Forgotten Realms…even Dark Sun.
All we need is Hasbro and/or WB to okay it…

Anyway , the point is by the time in the next 30 years we get to see another thundercats reboot, we’ll be old, ancient! Having white hair growin’ out of our ears, losin’ teeth and growing liver spots!
