Here we can list cool little easter eggs and other interesting things that we might notice as we watch ThunderCats. These can include shout outs to the original series and maybe even some foreshadowing. I’ll start us of with some simple ones.
When Lion-O says “ThunderCats Ho!” and swings the Sword of Omens for the first time, it’s identical to the way Lion-O did it in the original.
We see a Robear Berbill arm in the junk shop.
Panthro looks a lot like Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop.
Tygra says “Now you see me, now you don’t.” when he goes invisible, which is very similar to what he said in the original series.
I didn’t catch that there was a Ro-Bear Berbil arm in the junk shop.
The cat sounds the Thunderians and ThunderCats made. Ie. Lion-O growls when Tygra says, “And I’m gonna ring yours.” Or the Thunderian meowed right before Tygra punched him.
The Cats Lair head falling to the ground. Remember that falling in the OS.
The smile Lion-O gives right before he hits the woman at the beginning. That intrigued me.
That the ThunderCats all seem to wear stir-up pants. So very 80’s.
I noticed that all the cat’s outfits were very similar to the original outfits. The one that stands out most to me is Tygra’s his left sleeve is almost identical to the original. Each outfit is a gentle reminder to the original one.
Unfortunately it looks like Tygra’s outfit will get a major overhaul with that green armor. I like the clothes he wore in the premiere better. I also can’t imagine he’d be very comfortable walking around in armor all the time. I wonder if he’s going to become seriously injured and he needs the armor to survive.
The original Tygra actually said “Now you don’t see me, now you do.”
I believe Tygra, Kit, Kat and Lion-O will all get their new outfits from the same place at the same time, probably in the next episode. I also think that they decided to make his armor green so he would have an individual color, so he could be differentiated from the others. His original outfit has a very similar palette to Lion-O. Same reason Panthro now wears red and brown instead of blue.
And on that note, Lion-O, Claudus, and Tygra all wear similar blue and gray clothes. I guess those are the royal colors.
-The ominous sound made when Lion-O uses sight beyond sight brought a smile to my face.
-The epic scenery. The clerics on top of the mountains with the skybox in the background. Mumm-ra being burned by the sun scene with that soft glow on the horizon fogging the view. Epic.
Tygra said it that way (“Now you don’t see me, now you do”) only in Exodus, but from then on, he said it the other way round (“Now you see me, now you dopn’t”).
About his clothes, I think this time they gave him that olive green color because it’s combinable with his orange skin, while blue isn’t that much. I think that’s one of teh reasons why they covered most of his skin in the OS, because orange was a hard color to combine with… and because it must have been exhausting to draw and animate all the stripes every time he moved lol
I think the green came from how this Tygra is supposed to be a little more Militaristic. And in the OS Tygra’s costume did look a little green sometimes (especially the toy).
don’t know how “interesting” it is, but I noticed an error.
The two lizards that Lion-O helped, the one with “fin” ears had a raspy voice and the other didn’t, but the lizard that gave Lion-O the key didn’t have the fin ears, but had the raspy voice. lol
I noticed in the games when they’re watching the Thunderians race for the bell, they used the same shot and animation for the crowd, but just reversed it the second time.
Also, I noticed that in the Wondercon trailer, when Cheetara leaps in front of Lion-o and Tygra, it’s actually the same animation reversed after she says to Lion-o that he’s different - she leaps away into the night.
As sage as Jaga is, the conversation between himself and Lion-o after he loses the race with Tygra, Lion-o says there’s something bothering him and he had something to say, it just was a little off for me that Jaga would dismiss it so casually, especially since he knew something was up when Lion-o looked into the sword..
The bomb Lion-o found from the dealer - are you telling me that NO ONE thought to press the damn button?? Was it seriously that easy to activate? Any random person who found that not knowing what it was would have probably poked at it. With unfortunate results for them.
Why didn’t they fly Larry in to record with the rest of the cast? As much as I love Larry, a lot of his lines in the first two episodes seemed very forced. You could tell he just wasn’t used to speaking so grandiose. It was a little underwhelming. Until his “Thundercats HO!” part, at least.
If the Thunderians mostly escaped into the caves, what happened to them? Did they mostly die, or escape? I guess it’s too early to find out…but I wanna know! lol
I had hoped for a big dialog with Tygra confronting Grune for his treachery, as he was pretty much his idol - or at least just some sort of shot of his face as he realised his idol destroyed his kingdom..
At the end of “Song of the Petalars,” the lizard that Panthro whacks with his nunchuks is the chameleon lizard, Komai. He has the same hair on his neck, the same axe weapon, the same rings on the straps of his helmet, and the same chameleon hands and feet.
Well Slithe saying yeeeessssss in episode 4 is definately a nod to the original show
when panthro attacks and the lizards run away, slithe goes fuming and yells “you miserable cowards” that instantly reminded me of the many failures the original mutants had. especially since “miserable” was a typical slithe word in the OS
