As i’ve said before, i do these kinds of threads because i need to blow off steam about a show i would otherwise like if it weren’t for the issues i noticed (which for some reason, everyone else seems to like).
I like the Reboot, but there are just so many pet peeves of mine involved in it that i just need to tell someone about them, perhaps even get some comforting feedback that will pacify me for a time. If i bring up my problems regarding Lion-O’s treatment, Tygra’s behavior or Pumyra’s reveal, it’s because i’m irked by them and i know that i’ll never get any real closure for any of it.
Take this thread for example, like i said, i’d like to see Tygra and Pumyra be punished for their mistreatment of Lion-O, and that’s because i personally hate it when someone teases me and then gets away with it without any sort of punishment. I made this thread because i think it’s just unsettling that Tygra and Pumyra (among several other Cats) were so nasty and got no comeuppance for it. While Lion-O has tried to be nothing but kind (and only acted mean in regards to what he might have just went through emotionally) and yet always gets punished. I repeat: how is that fair?
I know she was underused in the OS, but the original Pumyra was a lot nicer and, in my opinion, would have made the perfect mate for NS Lion-O; she was calm and collected, but loyal and a warrior when necessary. I still think this whole “Pumyra thinks Lion-O abandoned her” thing was a mistake, those comments of her’s just made wish she would get punished like never before. Take what happened in “The Pit” for example, if Pumyra had killed Lion-O, what did she expect, for the other Cats to hail her as a hero for killing the king? With Lion-O gone, Tygra would be in charge and he would have likely had her executed at the very most and banished at the very least. Also, ending Lion-O would have just assured Mumm-Ra’s victory, and that really would have made her a pariah to her kind.
As far as Tygra goes, i swear that that man was doing everything he could to make sure Lion-O never knew happiness. You say that the other Cats act as Lion-O’s council, but a council is only supposed to advice the King, these guys continuously try to change Lion-O’s whole outlook on life to suit their bigoted and imperialistic needs, and his life was stressful enough as it is. And how can they even be his council anyway? The Kittens are commoners, and Panthro and Cheetara are both little more than the most favored among his servants.
I attempted to write a fanon Season two in hopes of satisfying my taste for closure for this show (I was going to have Tygra finally get talked down to for all of his past digressions and have Pumyra be so ashamed of herself for all that she did that she’d even be willing to perform suicide as penance), but as long as i know that it’s not what the show did, the events of the actual canon will always haunt me.
The thing is, there’s a difference between relating to characters and being legit crazy about wanting to punish/torture them.
Forgiveness is the best punishment out there. I’m sure Lion-O already knows that.
How would I punish Tygra and Pumyra? I wouldn’t.
