How would you punish Tygra and Pumyra?

As we all saw, Tygra and Pumyra are both guilty of making Lion-O’s life harder and more miserable in some way. And while some of you don’t seem to find that an issue, i for one am definitely one the people who think that those two needed some type of comeuppance for all that they did.

How would any of you have these two punished?

Personally, i’d have liked to see more instances where Tygra found himself in charge, only for his every decision to be lead to disaster. Thus showing just how unfit to be King he really is. From where i stand, skills or not, i would never follow that guy, i just don’t like him and he doesn’t deserve to be in charge of anything.

As for Pumyra, let’s just say that she actually did kill Lion-O in the Pit, i’d forsee the other Cats asking Dobo to release her so that they could find the other Cat slaves. But while Pumyra was expecting to be treated with dignity, the other Cats kept her in chains and treated her as a captive (I.E. they pulled her all around, they pushed her, they insulted her and even beat her whenever she said anything), and when ordeal was over, they would release her and then tell her to leave and never come back. They would even go as far as to tell Pumyra that if they ever saw her again, they’d kill her.

What do ya think?

Just to be clear, when you state YOU THINK Tygra has done so many things that made Lion-o´s life so much harder you should POINT THOSE THINGS OUT.

I for one dont understand what you are talking about, other than you think Tygra should be punished but again FOR WHAT? I can agree Tygra was no angel, but then again no one in this show really was, everyone were a douche at least once or twice.

punishing Pumyra to me is kind of useless as in she’s already dead. when dealing with Pumyra in the NS, i can’t blame her even if i wanted to because she was a resurrected spirit that was manipulated by Mum-ra throughout. her spirit had no choice but to act that way.
i consider Tygra as a plain jerk. i get that he feels he should be king due to Lion-o’s lack of enthusiasm when it came to taking his duties as a prince-soon-to-be-king seriously. Tygra has known since Lion-o’s birth, that he was never gonna king anymore but still chose to treat his younger brother like crap. Lion-o had no control over of his birth so for Tygra to blame him was idiotic. but in actuality, the writers are to blame for the portrayal of the version of Tygra.

To just turn Tygra into a incompetent loser would make any triumph Lion-O had over him empty. LOL. It took you all this time to one up that guy??

You want Tygra to be a lousy leader as punishment, but you want Pumyra to be beaten and harassed by the entire feline race…Dude, that’s really creepy and uncomfortable to read :frowning: And the way you made sure to add in the bit about her being in chains and the threat on her life ? Yikes.

Here we go again…
Another pointless Lion-O was treated like crap thread.
Also your suggestions for their punishment is bit disturbing.

What do I think? I think you’re starting to come across as obsessed and kinda creepy. How many threads do you have to create where you do nothing but talk about Lion-O not being treated the way you wanted? Wouldn’t it make you happier to spend your energy and time on something you like that also makes you feel good instead of something that is obviously upsetting you?

Also, your description of what you want for Pumyra… that’s really disturbing.

Rizefall - For as long as i’ve watched this show, Tygra has chastised, second guessed and insult Lion-O at every turn, and has even had the audacity to try and justify it by saying that Lion-O has always undermined him. He’s the only one who’s ever undermined anyone and i weep for anyone who believes he could lead anybody anywhere.

He-Man - That hardly justifies what she did and she needs to be punished for it.

Mark M - I make these kinds of threads because this seems to be the only place where i can blow off some steam and actually get much needed feedback

What exactly do you need feedback for?

…

Well remember you asked what we think, I think you’ve gone to a place that makes anything Tygra has done look like the actions of a Carebear. Some of these things I see people post about punishing Tygra/Pumyra/Cheetara are so strange because they are such dark, ugly words to defend a just and gentle character in a way that is in direct violation of why you like someone like Lion-O. We get it Tygra can be mean, Pumyra abrasive and bossy and deceitful, but really I can point out at least half a dozen times Lion-O was a complete butthole as well just to be one. I don’t get why its subject for ‘sinner stoning a sinner’ I just don’t get it, maybe someone can explain it to me.

So just a suggestion. Relax and remember it is just a cartoon, no need to go to a dark and scary place about it.

I can’t say much for Pumyra, because she was never loyal to the ThunderCats to begin with as we found out later on. If you really want to look at this thing from a punishment point of view, Pumyra has sentenced herself to a worse punishment than any of the other cats could conjure in their meanest thoughts, if they were of such a mindset, because she is in the service of Mumm-Ra the Ever living, and we all know how well that works out for all who follow him. Promises of power, revenge, or the subjugation of others are only the preludes to personal falls and destruction that are nearly unfathomable, and most of the time; through their very own avarice. Grune the Warrior, the lizards, and if we had a chance to see it, even Kaynar, Addicus, and the Vultarian would have most likely gotten their just desserts for their greed and evil intent.

As per Tygra, no, he’s not perfect, but look at what he’s had to live with. Yes, he was lucky that he was found and adopted by King Claudus and the queen, but when she found out she might be carrying the heir, snap, in an instant their relationship changed drastically. I’m sure she still loved him, but instead of Tygra being her “handsome prince” he was relegated to being, “my darling” instead- a very powerful sudden differentiation of status for someone still so young, especially from someone who he loved so dearly.

Then the queen dies while giving birth to Lion-O, his only mother figure, half of his security gone, and all Claudus has to say to comfort Tygra after losing his mother is that before she died, she was able to give Thundera his baby brother, the heir to the crown, and then just expects a child, who is literally in tears over the death of his mother, to simply understand that “someday” he will understand why Lion-O is to be king instead of him.

As Lion-O grows older, he shirks his royal duties religiously, up unto the point in which he is young man and not even a child any longer, well aware of how irresponsible he’s being, but still didn’t take his role as seriously as he should have, until it was much too late.

Lion-O is most of the time considerate, and genuinely cares for all creatures all of the time to his merit, but he isn’t perfect either, for as many mean and snarky things that Tygra has had to say to Lion-O, Lion-O has done the same to Tygra as well on several counts, and one of the worst ones centered around the woman he loves, Cheetara, which was just as good as kicking him in the face and then to the ground.

Just as another poster mentioned, there isn’t a character in the series that has been perfect, and that’s why I love this series in a lot of ways better than the original, and the characters so much, because their mistakes and flaws make them human. Added to that, Lion-O, Tygra, Panthro, Wilykit, Wilykat, Cheetara, they’re all a family. That being said, families have tiffs, arguments, and get angry with one another on a regular basis, that’s the nature of the beast, but still, there is always love between them all, and care for one another, because when one is in danger, all come running, that’s love.

As far as Tygra goes, every time throughout the series, in “real time” and in flashbacks, Tygra has had numerous chances to dispense with Lion-O and summarily become king, but he didn’t, he’s saved Lion-O’s life, and the others’ several times, and made it so they could continue their mission to find the stones. Tygra has shown true loyalty to Lion-O time and again, and come to his aid when others judged him as being foolish for it. (The pilot when the lizards were in stocks for one instance).

I have to say that his resentment is somewhat misplaced, but Tygra has lived in the shadow of his younger brother his whole life, therefore has never really gotten a chance to prove what he can do, and the gifts he has. I wholeheartedly agree that Tygra should have been more respectful of Lion-O, and his leader/lordship too, which he actually did in later episodes, but Lion-O, before his trials, felt as if he should have been followed without question because of his title. No real leader shuns the input of his followers, he actually welcomes it, and as the series progressed, he got a lot better about listening to others’ counsel.

All in all…

Tygra I have to admit, really isn’t king material, I think he got that message himself through experience, but Tygra deserves no punishment from Lion-O or any of the other ThunderCats whatsoever. If anything, Tygra should get a thank you from Lion-O for his loyal service, some acknowledgement that he’s equal to his lord in a lot of ways, and important to not only the team, but to Lion-O himself on a personal level as his only brother, and the only family he’s got left. I think that’s all the man really wanted to begin with, some recognition just for him, because Cheetara was right. Even though his resentment is misplaced, Cheetara had the gift of insight in saying that Tygra has lived in the shadow of his younger brother his whole life, that’s got to tough to look past sometimes, even if you are a saint.

I’m sorry. This isn’t totally off topic, but with the whole Tygra/Lion-o proving themselves and all makes me wonder. Why the heck do men have to prove themselves to be good or have status or something, especially something as vain and ridiculous with being competitive amongst other guys? I don’t know if I answered my question at one point in my journals on DA or not…I think some guy please elaborate. I know the question is sketchy, but I’m having a hard time explaining this.

Well for Lion-O, leaders absolutely need to prove themselves. Otherwise no one will follow them.

Tygra is trying to prove he’s the best at everything because he thinks people will leave him if he isn’t.

I don’t think gender has anything to do with it.

No, this doesn’t answer my question. This whole power struggle thing between them was just ridiculous and you seem to read into the question surface level. Come on, guys! Think!

Not a man, but I want to add my two cents

Plenty of men and women have competitive spirits, but our society has a general rule that there has to be an alpha male, and if men don’t try to reach that status then they are weak, no one will respect them, and no woman will want them :rolleyes:

Not all men buy into this, but yea.

LOL. I think the term Alpha nerd is hilarious. Even in a group of men that are supposedly “weak” , we have to have someone who reigns on top.

As for Tygra and Lion-O, its hard to say their competitive spirit doesnt come from circumstance.

Lion-O has to prove himself as a King.
Tygra wants to prove himself because of Balgus’ reasoning which also deal with him being passed over because he was 1 not a Lion, and two not the blood heir.

Ah~that does make much more sense. And in that high status within the world of Thundercats of the NS, it just seems to give such a terrible message as well as that corruption of what the world is like. That’s where competition is just something I rather pass and not work hard on what I do. I hate that for men (and women) who still follow that train of thought since their works seems to be wrapped around their self-worth and value. Tygra was like that. Lion-o was like that. Cheetara didn’t help matters much. Pumyra made it worse. Also, I apologize for being a wee bit sexist.

How would I punish Tygra and Pumyra?
First, I would get the most psychology education that I could in order to become some sort of therapist. Then, I’d evaluate their mental health, considering any trauma that they had gone through (e.g. Tygra’s adoptive mother stopped calling him a prince, and Pumyra felt abandoned and left to die). After that, I would ask questions about what traumas they each faced and what beliefs they obtained from those events. Finally, I would refer them to the person most suited for ensuring Pumyra and Tygra’s mental health.
I guess I wouldn’t punish them.

I would commend them for making the show interesting.

In all honesty, these threads are getting very ridiculous. Why would I want to punish 2 cartoon characters that didn’t affect my life at all? I’m guilty of saying “That character is annoying/useless/evil and I hope they die” while watching shows, but that doesn’t mean I would want to physically or mentally hurt them. These threads are becoming creepily obsessive, no matter what defense anyone may have.

lol…well he’s keeping this site a bit lively. ever since the end of the series, there hasn’t been much going on here. personally, i don’t have a problem with his threads. i just think Srebak is a very passionate fan of the thundercats franchise and i’m guessing since the shows abrupt ending on a cliffhanger , he just needs to vent.

Srebak has vented though, on several occasions. How many times must he post the same basic topic?
No one wants to keep discussing the same topic of Lion-O’s treatment.

It might be keeping the site some what active but I can’t help but think it will end up turning more fans away from the site when the only lively subjects we are discussing are all based around Lion-O’s treatment in the series.

Quite frankly ANY subject regarding the NS would be better to discuss than another thread based around Lion-O.

i completely agree with what you’re saying, but if people are sick of his Lion-o mistreatment threads they can always start another thread with a different topic.
