And it lists just seven episodes. Is that really all there is for now? If that’s the case, I have to assume they’re testing the waters, and if those 7 episodes do well rating wise, then there will be more. (This is just a guess)
So lets say the episodes do well enough to warrant more being made. How long will it take them to do more? Will we have to wait a year to see episode 8 ?
Maybe someone can clear this up, because I don’t know how it works.
okay thanks. That’s really good to hear that there will be at least 26. I hope this show doesn’t suffer the same fate as the He-Man reboot and only last 2 seasons. I watched the original thundercats back in 1985, and have been a fan since then. So I was really skeptical if this new show would be any good. But personally, I think it’s great. And I have a purist attitude about most things. Can’t wait for more!:liono
They still have people who “watch them” last time i tried, a known game and an unknown one it took them like 2 min for the first, about 10 for the other.
And as i said it’s still up in the air what all the name will be.
Back in January 2011, Matthew Mercer was just about ready to go into the studio to do the next 13 episodes, which would make for a total of 26, no matter how they break it down into seasons.
I recall He-Man 2002 having a very, very slow start and a lack of interest. However, despite this, I totally agree that ThunderCats 2011 had a fantastic start. Personally, I’m getting an Avatar: The Last Airbender vibe with the new series, which is definitely good in my book.
While I am a fan of animation, what interests me mostly with any animated show is a good story arch. I have a lot of faith in this series.
That means that it will be only two seasons? Sure two years might be long but hell i would want some more atleast <.<
At that video he does not actually say it’s just gonna be 52. It is just the highest number said. I know he said it twice but why randomly say different numbers when you have said two already?
from what the producers have said they have 2 seasons planned out, but have ideas for a third. They’ve never said they’re gonna stop at 2 seasons. I think they’re just taking this approach to make sure (if it gets canceled) we’ll still have a satisfying ending.
IMO there will be a minimum of two seasons (52 episodes) of ThunderCats, but my own gut instinct is that unless the show is a global phenomenon (on the scale of how Masters of the Universe was back in the 1980s), the max we’ll get will be 3 seasons - so, needless to say I’m praying for the global phenomenon!
Sadly it seems animated series have a shorter “shelf life” these days, a lot of very successful shows get canned whilst they’re doing well to make way for the next big thing!
The longevity of the recent Ninja Turtles revival is the thing that fills me with the most hope, as that managed a lot of episodes - if ThunderCats could enjoy similar success, I’d be very happy!
Something I think we can hope for is that, if this show is successful, there’s no reason why ThunderCats can’t become regarded as a brand in its own right in the way that Star Wars, DC and Marvel superheroes, etc., are - so, there’s no reason why the concept can’t keep coming back every few years with a new take! It really all hinges on the success of this first season (and the toys) IMO!
