A bow isn’t necessarily more deadly or accurate than a sling, hell in the hands of a skilled user a sling is more deadly and the ammo for a sling is almost infinite. There was a time where the use of slings in combat was considered a war crime.
You have a good point since I’ve seen slings used on at least one episode of “Deadliest Warrior”.
I know I said previously that Pumyra shouldn’t be a Warrior Maiden, by which I meant she shouldn’t be a human Warrior Maiden going by that name. However, for her to have a bow and arrows would say she’s been living with the Warrior Maidens all this time, maybe as an orphan who was raised by them. It’s another interesting idea, but I don’t know if the writers will go that way. I’m guessing they won’t and that they’ll stick close to the original concept of her and her weaponry. Except for the new adventures abd new characters, they seem to be faithful to the OS in just about everything else. 
That was my idea from the beginning: a Thunderian raised by Warrior Maidens, who taught her natural medicine and how to use a bow.
I think it was mentioned before, but it’s possible that the Warrior Maidens this time round could be changed to Thunderians instead of humans. Or Pumyra could be living on her own, but have the overall style of a Warrior Maiden (weapons, clothes, skills, etc).
I’m not too keen on the idea of splitting up the trio of Lynx-O, Bengali, and Pumyra as they had a sort of family dynamic even moreso that the other Thundercats. Maybe this time around they actually could be related, Bengali and Pumyra being his niece and nephew or even his grandchildren (Hey, if My Little Pony can do it so can they).
Having them as family might work. I just want them to be commoners like they were in the original. Lynx-O’s already a high ranking general this time though. I don’t want them to be poor and homeless like the Kittens and Cheetara were, just regular middle class working people who got swept up in the conflict like everyone else.
Interesting how we are all coming up with theories on how Pumyra should be introduced, what her story and background should be, and all that, and no one mentions Bengali if not ih this thread or because the Pumyra and Lynx-o subjects are brought up.
Makes me think… in the OS Pumyra was cionsidered the less popular character, reason why she was left in Third Earyh with Tygra (another apparently unpopular character despite being my fav). I always prefered Pumyra over Bengali in the OS, and always though her introduction along with Lynx-o’s would have been enough, and that Bengali’s introduction in the series had no sense other than slowly taking Tygra’s place in the minds of the fans (still ****es me off).
Now I think Pumyra had many more fans than Ithought back on the time, and that they’re expecting her even ore than Bengali thsi time around.

I think people aren’t mentioning Bengali as much because he’s not confirmed yet and Pumyra is. But they could definately still be brought in at the same time. They brought in Addicus and Kaynar at the same time even though they had only confirmed Kaynar before the episode aired in Ireland.
That, and I don’t think there’s quite as much to speculate about Bengali. His characteristics in the OS were a lot better established than Pumyra. He’s a blacksmith and kind of a hot head. Pumyra’s character wasn’t really that well established, so who she is is a lot more open to interpretation. Of all the original cats, she’s the closest to a blank slate. There are many ways she could be reinterpreted, and it’s apparent that fans really want the new Pumyra treated a lot better than the old one.
At this point, everyone has in their minds their ideal interpretation of what Pumyra will be like, and in a weird way it’s causing her to be popular even before she even appears.
She was also unique-looking as the only Thunderian who had round pupils as opposed to slitted (something I hope they keep in the new series) and it’s easy to latch onto her has a “conflicted” character (or as close as the series got back in that day) being a healer who was forced to fight as well as a significant lack of screentime in the original series. Apparently the producers didn’t use her much because they thought she was kind of redundant with Cheetarah already hanging around as the resident girl and if they needed a girl to get kidnapped they could easily just use Wilykit or one of the Warrior Maidens, but with the fans she’s probably equal in popularity to Tygra.
That and everyone’s assuming they’re going to hook her up with Lion-O
I think they never gave her a chance to be popular, whereas with Tygra he started out being really important and was supposed to be the most important 2nd TC (many of the first eps were about him) and for some reason they dropped his ball to favor Panthro’s (will never understand why though, as I personally found Tygra much more interesting).
I’ll be brief and say that i’m one of the fans hoping that Pumyra will be Lion-O’s queen (so to speak), but the way the show is going, i’m starting to think that won’t likely be the case. However, as it was mentioned, Pumyra is supposed to have a somewhat big role in the new series, which means she might end up having a strong relationship with one of the Thundercat originals
Pumyra having a bigger role should be a given whether as a medic, potential love interest for lion-o, or based on popularity. :pumyrahappy:the fact that she was so underused in the os series gives the ns a chance make her seem more interesting, more personality and more identity. In my opinion she should have more screen time being the team’s medic in os but that didn’t really happened but seeing as the new series is a bit darker. Screen time for her is a must, also i really hope she will be love interest to lion-o. i really think they would make a cute couple. plus i hope the designers don’t go overboard with her new design. I have been happy with the redesigns so far and somewhat happy with the VA’s and would like to keep it that way.

I’m just sad that for all the talk about her (and Bengali) there’s been so little fanart of what a rebooted Pumyra would look like.
Well, there have been a few good ones. I even sketched out a few designs for her in my notebook.
However, there really has been a lack of any reboot Bengali fanart, though I think I did see one or two.
Let’s talk voice actresses, who would you like to hear as Pumyra? Given the show’s anime flavor I’d like to see big name anime voice actor if they could. My pick would be Michelle Ruff because she’s so damn versatile. She could be tough and aggressive (Yoko from Gurren Lagaan) Or shy and sweet (Yuki from Haruhi Suzumiya).
