I think it is pretty common knowledge that The Maze of Infinity from “The Trial of Cunning” is in the shape of the Thundercat insignia, but I have found two other instances of the insignia being used in an even more subtle way. Some may say I am seeing things - I am curious what you all think.
First, the shape of the island that was home to Bengali, Lynx-O and Pumyra in the first part of “Thundercats, Ho!” -
Nice subject! I believe you would probably get more replies if the photos showed in the thread. I haven’t taken a look at them yet as I keep forgetting, but hopefully soon.
I’m glad you were able to get the images working—I’ve been eager to see what you’re talking about!
I’ll be honest. I think you might be seeing things? The island is a major stretch, but the veri-cannon shot is closer. We’ll never know the artists’ intentions, but this is still a fun game of I Spy! I’ll starting keeping an eye out for other examples.
Really? I thought the island was closer. The symbol is pointing the opposite way it normally is, the “cats head” is looking to the right instead of the left. The volcano of the island would be the eye of the cat symbol.
Yes I can see it. It’s so cool! Never noticed in. Very clever though. Any way TC.org can get in touch with any of the animators to confirm if it was their intention?
I can see something in the second photo although tio me it just looks like the mouth part. Unfortunately I don’t see it in the island pic. I have been staring at that photo for the last 15 minutes.
As the island, the symbol is flipped and is “facing” more towards the bottom right of the screen. The volcano would be the “eye” of the insignia. Hope that helps you see it.
I see what you mean, but I dont think either is intentional. Both vaguely bare a slight resemblance kind of..
The part of the island that resembles the cat-symbol is the channel of water running from the coast inwards. I think that looks the way it does because the animators needed to create a source of fresh water for the ThunDerians (maybe Berbils.. do they drink? Or rust?). Other than that shape the island doesnt look like the cats-symbol at all. And I think that if the second one was intentional, but only on-screen for a split second, it would be a 100% match. This to me is just a coincidence.
