Not everyone was given an equal opportunity to love the 6 inch Tygra. I avoided their 4 inch line, because:

The 4 inch Tygra ruins the set. The face is atrocious and has no resemblance to the cartoon on which it is based.
So, I decided collecting the 6 inch line…Now, I will never possess the 6 inch Tygra to complete the team (I was thinking of getting the 4 inch kit/kat and having them join the 6 inch line)
I collected the 8" and 6" classics. After a superb 8" Lion-O (I would rate it 99%), Bandai seemed to be off to a good start…now, it looks like almost no one will ever be able to complete their classic or modern basic team. Thanks bandai, you could have at least produced as many Tygras as Claudus or Cheetaras…What was the point of making a metallic 8" Lion-O? Why tease people with the prospect of a 8" Classic Cheetara with “wind-blown hair”? 6" (well 4", really) modern Wily Kit and Wily Kat set? Bandai should have at least committed themselves to finishing the Classic Collector’s set [ Lion-O, Tygra, Cheetara, and Panthro]…Heck, they could have released those 4 during the launch of the toyline!
…lastly, no modern Pumyra figure…sigh
P.S: Aaand what annoys me even more is…Mezco makes a 14 inch TC line? I don’t collect doll sized figures! That Panthro is so badass, btw…Mezco could have owned the line if they went with a more reasonable scale…
I read up on Bandai, and it seems like they really are terrible. If there’s anyone to blame, it’s them. We can only hope another company will pick them up, or maybe that was the reason they were discontinued because they (the people behind TCats) saw the potential danger in staying with Bandai. I don’t know, I’m really trying to be optimistic and realistic at the same time. I just don’t want to see this show fail for the sole fact of the toy line being screwed up, and I honestly don’t think it will.
Nope. The line was discontinued because the toy line flopped hammy. No one bought the toys.
hamm0924. I know you are a true fan so this is hard for you to believe, realize, and admit. The toy line blew. It bombed. That’s the fact of the matter. It wasn’t a matter of righteous and noble WB seeing how badly Bandai screwed up discontinuing it themselves so they can award the license to a new company to continue right where Bandai left off and make new toys.
Bandai USA failed us. They failed Thundercats.
The producers all but said the show is made to sell toys. That’s why WB produced this new show. To sell toys and merchandise. Without that, the show has no reason to exist. Sorry but that’s the brass tacks. That’s not to say there will never ever be new Thundercats again. It’s possible. He-Man got rebooted again over a decade after New Adventures and new toys. Then it got rebooted yet again with MOTUC. Though that’s Mattel and they own MOTU. Thundercats is TW/WB who licensed out the toys to Bandai USA who did a hack job.
I understand the show was meant to be heavily toy-based, but the ratings have proved that it doesn’t necessarily need them. It is up with Young Justice and several other decent action shows on CN. Yes, Bandai was terrible. Yes, not as many people as expected bought the toys. But I still have hope.
Here’s one thing I do want to get clear; I am also very skeptical of a second season. The signs pointing towards and away from the next season have kept me relatively neutral for awhile. My final thought; if we do get a second season, it will be a very long time before we do, whether it be due to the toyline, the hiatus the writers are taking, low ratings (which so far aren’t a problem), or some otherworldly force. I will be genuinely upset if there is not another season, and I will most definitely blame Bandai and CN for the most part. The fans are truly supportive and want to see the show succeed, and CN should notice that. but they don’t. They don’t care about any other show besides Adventure Time. I’m going off topic but I can’t mention CN failing the series without bringing up how it over-advertises the hell out of it’s crappy shows.
Yes it does. This show was expensive to make and the show was meant to move big sales in toys and merchandise. That didn’t happen. Hence the show being goneski.
What you are failing to ignore, that even though Young Justice’s toyline was cancelled, there are still always lots of DC themed toys and merchandise out there between other toys, comics, videogames, comics, there are many ancillary markets out there for DC Entertainment. Unfortunately not for Thundercats.
Very true (I never knew YJ even had a toyline). They probably do get a good chunk from other DC stuff. I’m subconciously trying to ignore the financial side of things because I never saw it as an issue. Now that I do, I see the reality of the shows cancellation. I will never lose hope in another season happening, but it’s going to take a lot to make it happen.
Hmm…I don’t know. Like said before, TCats was meant to be pretty reliant on the toy line, but so was Ben 10. It just recently (like, past 5 minutes recently) hit me that we’ve only seen it on Amazon.
There is always the possibility of a New Season and a totally brand-new Toyline by another Company based on Season2.
Besides if things are so bad like TheVileOne claims to be, the Toyline production has stopped for quite some time now, giving the chance and time to another company to acquire the licence and start making New Figures.
I was just thinking, if they want to focus the toy line on kids. Why not have a Lego toy line for Thundercats. Think about, Lego is REALLY popular with kids between the ages of 6-11. Which is the age group the show is targeted for. I mine look at all the Lego tv commercials that are out there. I for one think they wouldn’t have a problem selling a Lego Thundercats toy line.
Is Bandai known for being a lousy toy company? I mean, have there been complaints about them in the past with other toy lines? I personally don’t know much about them, but if the cartoon is dependent on how well the toys sell, why didn’t CN look into which company was the best to go with? It sounds like they did no research into the matter to begin with.
Yeah no other toy company has acquired the license.
Bandai USA was not WB’s first choice. It was Mattel. Mattel turned them down. Bandai had made toys for Power Rangers and Ben 10 so I guess they thought that was the next best choice.
If this show gets cancelled as a result, it will be a crime. People are already making comparisons to He-Man 2002 and how that got cancelled early, but this new T-Cats has been at least twice as good as that He-Man show ever was.
This is a show that truly deserves to be finished and given a proper conclusion. They wanted 52 episodes to tell the story and I really want that to happen.
