I like it too, otherwise I wouldn’t be here ;). I like both. It irks me a bit now that they didn’t focus more on action though. If your whole bottom line depends on toy sales, you really want to put more action in. That is what will get the preteen and early teen boys to want the toyline. Atleast that’s how it was for me, and I have an attic full of action figures from back in the day.

No, he’s right. This is a thread for discussing the possible future for the show. I’ll admit I am at fault for getting it off track but this is not about comparing two shows. If you want to discuss “Korra vs. ThunderCats”, then make a new thread. And if you do, expect me to be there.

I like Green Lantern, so its a win for me there, I just hope with so much stuff from Thundercats at the 'Con this year, we might very well get a second season
And possible if not a show, perhaps a comic storyline, kind of like ‘season four’ of Avatar the Last Airbender did, or the “8th” season of buffy the vampire slayer.
I’ve been reading that 2 more Season are ordered for korra!! The news were revealed in SDCC and the fans were pretty excited.Also, the producers sad that have many things in mind that will come to fruition over the next years

It’s one season split into two books. Very weird, but think of it that they get 2 seasons that’s 4 books which they are gonna air like 4 seasons.
From what I see, the way CN are saving other shows (ahemGLahem) that look to be getting the cut rather than save the NS, it looks like they’re trying to save face.

I hate to sound pushy, but we should really set the record straight here - an episode is only a filler if it has absolutely NO. SERIES. CONTINUITY. I can’t stress that enough. (so when you put it into perspective, the only episode that applies to this is RFD)
Well you have to give the creators some credit for trying to keep the story on track. And to be honest (much like what I said about fillers) it seems like the only episode that was totally irrelevant in TLA, was ‘The Great Divide’. While I agree and won’t judge you on your other points (all valid arguments I must say) I feel like with the expansion of more episodes, there may just be more room for episodes to be written by other writers (seriously, the duo only wrote about 4 or 5 together, and MDD wrote an additional 4 or so)

Recipe still had something to do with the plot. If that would not have happened, we would have been all “What the heck?” when Pumyra was all over Lion-O in the first part of the finale, because that episode basically showed Lion-O had feelings for her.
Good point. But like I said, an episode is only a filler if there is no series continuity, so with that said - there really wasn’t any filler time. the production team was right when they said everything within the story is relevant.

You are splitting hairs here. The term ‘filler’ comes from anime that are catching up to the manga they are based on, so resort to episodes that stall the plot to give the manga more time to progress. The reason fillers have nothing to do with the plot is because the writers of the anime don’t know where the manga is going, so they cannot touch on anything.
When applying the term to non-japanese cartoons this ofcourse doesn’t apply, because the writers aren’t followng an ongoing story, they are writing it themselves. They can add things that touch on continuity. Feel free to come up with another term than filler if you want, because thundercats had a lot of episodes that did not advance the main plot at all, even if they touched on continuity. For me that is what filler means if I hear the term in a non-anime context.
My definition of filler, from what I’ve seen on the Internet plus what other people say it is, is an episode that has absolutely nothing to do with the plot at all. “The Beach”, “Tales of Ba Sing Se”, and “The Ember Island Players” from Avatar:The Last Airbender are what come to mind when I say filler. I also don’t consider episodes with large amounts of character development/backstory to be filler. So I only viewed the two Kit and Kat episodes and Recipe For Disaster as filler. But, if it wasn’t for the Forever Bag, they probably would have died on Avista, and we learned about Lion-O’s crush on Pumyra in RFD. Some people considered the Soul Sever episode to be filler, but they learned where exactly the next stone was plus they found the Feliner. So really, the only filler to me was “Survival of the Fittest”, because it didn’t have ANYTHING to do with the plot besides the brothers’ absence and didn’t really have any significant backstory besides us learning they left their family. The only other one that was like this was Duelist and the Drifter.
The plot was moved in most of the episodes, it’s just that the things presented in those episodes didn’t apply until later, like the forever bag helping them and Pumyra’s betrayal after Lion-O developed a crush on her. To say that it had a lot of filler would be a huge overstatement.

However, I feel like something that needs to be highlighted, is that you really can’t find much of a term that descirbes this point as well as the word ‘filler’. That, and it really is just about because the episode features a story that can generally be categorized as Not following along with the plot that has already been set into motion by other writers. I feel like this along with the idea of no story continuity are what gives audiences a reason to define it as a ‘filler’.
I agree with this too, (and I also want to add on a side note that another major filler in ATLA was ‘The Great Divide’ which we can all agree will never be a fan favorite) in that the only obvious episodes you could deem to have no relevance were ‘Ramlak Rising’, and ‘The Duelist and the Drifter’, because while Lion-O did learn a new life lesson, we didn’t hear about the drifter or any of the other characters that were apart of the episode (except for how Thunderian currency is just as useless as German money was during prior to WWII)
EDIT: However, I will say that the episode is ranked a little higher on relevance because the fish did come back and help in the season finale.
And IMO as well, I think that given the entire season as a whole, the episodes contributed a lot to story elements such as back stories, development into 3DC Status, how the characters have changed since their debut, and revelations in a good fashion. with the exception of the episode I mentioned, I honestly feel like I can conclude with every episode had its place and played a part whether small or big.
And I agree - to say there were a lot of fillers is a big overstatement
