Three? I can think of a couple of characters that had two different voices, but three, that’s a tough one.
I’m with ya. The only character(s) that an argument could be made for having three voice actors that I can think of would be the ASOE, but we can only say there have been three voice actor’s for them if we make the assumption that some of the nameless apparitions we saw in the cauldron in season 1 were indeed the ASOE. But that is pretty conjectural. So I’m at a loss.
No, I think this is actually correct. Bob McFadden in “Excalibur”, Earle Hammond in “ThunderCubs”, and Earl Hyman starting in… “Return of the ThunderCubs”?
This was the first answer that came to mind. I was stumped to think of who the second actor would be and an episode example though.
Hmmmm, ya ASOE is a good guess. Not sure for another. Vultureman had at least two right?
The correct answer is Ancient Spirits of Evil (ASOE). The character was voiced by Earle Hyman in most episodes, Bob McFadden in “Excalibur” and Doug Preis in “ThunderCubs - Part V”.
I know there were a number of named (Nemesis) and nameless apparitions that appeared in Mum-Ra’s cauldron throughout the series, but these answers are not based on any assumptions or speculations because:
In “Excalibur”, Mumm-Ra says, “ASOE show me a way. Tell me! Speak to me!”, just before Bob McFadden talks as the ASOE.
In “ThunderCubs - Part V”, the apparition itself says, “Do you hear us Mumm-Ra? We are the ASOE!”
So right now, ButterflyBoy has given the first part of the answer, while Zax got 2 out of 3 for the second part. Maybe we should have a tie-breaker?
I only know of Vultureman. Which were the other characters with two different voices? You’ve got me curious. ![]()
I know there is Mumm-Rana, who was voiced by Lynee Lipton in “Mumm-Rana” and Gerianne Raphael in “Mumm-Rana’s Belt”. I can’t think of any others, but maybe Liam has some in mind.
You’re right. Though, in “Thundercubs” Mumm-Ra acts very surprised when the ASOE speak to him directly, and acts as though they have never spoken aloud to him in the past (“I…I do hear you! …Who are you?”). I suppose I allowed that to override my headcanon into a retcon of whatever spoke to him in “Excalibur”. But I definitely see what you are saying.
Maybe he was surprised because that time it was (the first time they spoke to him?) on New Thundera and not Third Earth. :biggrin
Well if no one has any objections, I’ll post the tie-breaker to decide who is the winner between ButterflyBoy and Zax. Get ready gentlemen! ![]()
In which episode does Mumm-Ra directly help Lion-O?
“Shadowmaster”? Also, Snarf Oswald is another example of a character with two voices—Earl Hyman in “ThunderCubs” and beyond, but someone else (Larry Kenney?) in “Feliner”.
Not that it’s my question to answer but I think you’re right. Shadowmaster is the one season 4 episode that I find actually decent.
I think you’re right about a Snarf with two different voices. I’m not sure it’s in Feliner, I know Earle Hyman was one of the Snarfs in that one, although I think his character looked different to the Oswald that we saw later on, I’m not sure any were identified by name in Feliner (other than Snarf and Snarfer of course).
“Shadowmaster” is indeed the right answer! Your turn to give us a zax-tastic new question! :biggrin
I always confuse those two Snarfs. If memory serves me right, Snarf Oswald is the thin one with bright red fur who was voiced by Earle Hyman (in a slightly high-pitched, “Nemex-like” voice). Snarf Eggbert is the rotund one with dark red/maroon fur and he was voiced by Kenney in the later episodes but by Hyman in “Feliner”. It was Eggbert who was running after Snarfer when the little one was caught by Ratar-O, wasn’t it? He says something like, “I’m coming Snarfer!” in a heavy voice that sounds very much like Hyman’s. ![]()
Oh, you’re right. In my head it was Oswald who was running to help Snarfer, but only because he’s mentioned by name later in the episode. Watching it back, it’s totally Egbert (or, at least, his doppelsnärfer), and voiced by Hyman rather than Kenney.
New question forthcoming!
:laugh :roflmao
It’s definitely Earle Hyman voicing the other snarf in “Feliner”, but I don’t think any name is given to his character.
In seasons 3-4, it’s definitely Larry Kenney as Eggbert and Earle Hyman as Oswald.
Yo Zax, do you have a new question for us yet? ![]()
Whoops! Sure, let’s see…
In years, what’s the lower bound for how long Mumm-Ra has been around (i.e. at least x years)?
Seven thousand years?
Well, that was fast! Yep, because “Wizz-Ra”.
I actually prefer the idea that it’s 14,000, and that Wizz-Ra has come back once before…
Anyway, your turn, Wilycub. [emoji4]
Did you mean lower or upper bound? Because The Unholy Alliance and Pumm-Ra refer to a period of one thousand years.
Certainly Dimension Doom says Wizz-Ra can only return to Third Earth for one day every seven thousand years, and Mumm-Ra was there when he was initially banished, and it’s certainly logical to assume that he’s returned to our world at least once in the interim, possibly more times.
