Game: ThunderCat Trivia

I don’t mean to resurrect the animus of the earlier posts, because I agree with much of what’s been said—we should assume positive intent and recognize that it can be fun to learn obscure things.

However, Mumm-Ra_The Ever-Living does make one very valid point for us all to follow, which is that if you’re going to pose a difficult question, at least phrase it in a way that might help lead people to the answer, as opposed to a deliberately complex one. We can criticize the question itself without turning up our noses at the trivia behind it.

I know who Jim Meskimen is—I’d wager a lot of us do. And I know that he’s done voice and acting work in addition to his ThunderCats design work. But Shia LeBeouf to Even Stevens to Jim Meskimen to ThunderCats is an overly convoluted chain to expect anyone to connect, even using IMDB as a resource. It might have been better phrased, for instance, as “What Even Stevens actor do we know from his work on ThunderCats?” The complex degrees of separation made it unnecessarily difficult, and made it less of a trivia question and more of a riddle.

Heaven knows I’m guilty of posting difficult questions, too. And I feel really bad when I have to post a hint, because I feel like I’ve stalled the game and bored everyone, or, worse, given you all the impression that I’m a smart-aleck. So, thunderianroyalguard, if you feel like enlightening us with a bit of difficult trivia (which can honestly be fun), consider methods of phrasing that might help the average fan rather than stump even the most avid.

I agree with Zax here - finding out obscure things is interesting, but without the relevant clue, makes for unfair trivia questions.

Time for my 2 cents

Just wanna say I grew up and live in Peru, so I don’t know anything related to voice actors (as I watched the show dubbed to Spanish) or things like that. I enjoy the questions though, because I learn some stuff, but if all the upcoming questions would go in that direction, I might quit playing.

Not a threat lol, just my feelings.

Omg

I wasnt planning on responding cause frankly I really dont understand why some members have such a huge problem with such a minor thing.

I’ve been an active member on this forum for quit a while, I’ve been a passionate ThunderCats collector for the past 24 years. I’ve traded with other forum members, helped people out with ThunderCats information & images and trying to get more information on the site for everyones benefit and enjoyment. Frankly, to suggest that I asked a question for any other reason than playing along and have a bit of fun, is a suggestion made out of ignorance AND an insult.

So, I know some of you feel the urge to respond to this post (and that is ofcourse your choice) But trust me, there is no need to do so. As said, I GET IT.

Please continue the game, I’ll keep my terrible questions to myself.

May I also throw in my two cents. I don’t participate in the Trivia game (due to my rather limited knowledge about small details pertaining to the Thundercats) so I cannot comment on the difficulty level of the question posted by “ThunderianRoyalGuard”.

However, I do feel compelled to comment on the rather impolite manner in which “MummRa-The-EverLiving” chose to express his opinion. It was not right of him to accuse “ThunderianRoyalGuard” of deliberately and intentionally ruining the trivia game by posting unanswerable question. I don’t believe that “ThunderianRoyalGuard” had any such intentions. Whatever “MummRa-The-EverLiving” said could have been said in a respectful way.

I can’t remember what the latest trivia question even IS!

There isn’t one. It’s Cap’n Cracka’s turn.

Well, as it’s been 3 weeks and he hasn’t posted one, I’ll do one. It’s one I’ve had up my sleeve for a while . . .

Whenever Lion-O uses “the catchphrase”, we always here a shrill little fanfare signalling the imminent delivery of those famous words.

Of course, when the sword doesn’t obey, we don’t hear this fanfare.

HOWEVER, there is exactly ONE instance of Lion-O using the catchphrase SUCCESSFULL and the fanfare NOT BEING HEARD.

Name that episode!

Not sure if it’s the one you had in mind, but… “The Circus Train”?

No, but you’re in the right season.

What about this game? Anyone still around?

I’m still around, however I dont have a guess on this one. Perhaps Liam can give us all another hint.

OK, I already confirmed it’s in season 3, here’s another clue for you all.

This particular use of the catchphrase knocks Mumm-Ra for six - quite literally.

That is to say, the beam bounces off a few walls then clobbers him good and proper (which I did not approve of, but this isn’t the time or place for another of my catchphrase-fix-all rants).

Took me a while to check, but it looks like it’s “Bracelet of Power”. For the record, though, “The Circus Train” is also missing the little fanfare.

Correct!

For the record, though, “The Circus Train” is also missing the little fanfare.

Are you sure? I could have sworn it was on the DVD I bought for my friend (he has the complete series, I only have season 1). Maybe there’s a difference between the UK and US issues, I don’t know.

In either event, it’s probably safe to assume that this was a production error.

Still - Zax, your turn!

It’s funny. Having watched both, in “Bracelet of Power” it feels like a production error, mostly because it’s accompanied by one of the stock sequences of Lion-O extending the Sword as he utters the catchphrase. In “The Circus Train”, though, the scene is so frenetic that it feels more natural. I can post a clip of it in a few days—it’s a weird comparison.

Anyway, on to the next question.

The blade of the Sword of Omens gets broken four times over the course of the series. For each instance, give the episode, as well as who broke it, and who reforged it.

First is All That Glitters. Broken by Tygra, reforged by Inflamer.

2nd is Mumm-Ra Lives Part 2. Broken by Tug Mug, reforged by Bengali.

3rd is Return to Thundera Part 2. Broken by Grune, reforged by Charr.

4th is The Heritage. Broken by Mumm-Ra, reforged by Charr.

100% correct, Alluro Fan. You’re up!

Mumm-Ra loves his disguises, but he’s only used 1 more than once. What disguise did he use more than once and in which episodes?

Good one!

All his disguises come to my mind, but none that he has used more than once…
