Any R’s?
We have a yes at last!

I’m feeling peckish, so I’ll ask for some T. (And biccies if you have some) ![]()
I’ll ask for an E!
I’ll assume you don’t mean in the drugs sense. But there is an MCsquared in this, and yes, also a T:
T _ E

The Four Day Drop
Which I think is a clever enough idea…think about it; During the four days, would one eventually fall asleep for a period of time? Surely the massive amounts of adrenaline being pumped into the body would start to wear thin by day 3. Just crazy to think about.
Balls, I only watched that episode the other day too.
We have a winner! With so few letters in place, too, excellent job! Your turn ButterflyBoy!
Also, for the record, there is nowhere on earth that would take that long to hit the bottom. Even if you could fall through the planet and out the other side, it would still take less than a day.
Less than an hour, actually! And then you’d immediately start falling back down the other way. [emoji12]
Thanks! ![]()
Yeah, I thought about mentioning how the four day drop is impossible. But then I recalled that it was from an Overgard episode, haha. Just chalk this up to another scientific impossibility. But hey, that’s what fantasy is all about, right? Maybe the “curious depression” as Lion-O calls it has some sort of spell placed on it, or it opens up to multiple dimensions that just keep a person falling for days until BAM! But then…how did the Warrior Maidens ever measure how long it takes to fall to the bottom? Did the first person to fall in somehow climb out to tell the tale? ![]()
Is that true? I mean, lets assume that the person falling through doesn’t just burn up, wouldn’t they sorta get caught between polarities in the middle and bounce around endlessly in the relative center?
There are a lot of assumptions, haha! But, yeah, let’s assume it’s perfectly safe tunnel. As you fall toward the center, gravity gradually goes to zero. Whatever energy you gain on the fall to the center is all the energy you’re going to gain, and the entire second half of the “fall”, with gravity fighting you now, you’re slowing down. You pop out the other side just as you run out of energy, and then you fall again. Repeat forever.
Add in air resistance, though, and yes, you would gradually bounce less and less, eventually coming to rest in the zero gravity center. Trippy!
As for the Four Day Drop, I imagined that whoever fell in just got knocked unconscious by the fall and didn’t wake up to shout for help for four days.
They worked it out on QI. Basically they made the calculations based on the earth’s gravity and radius. And yes, we have to assume the hole is safe, which is a big assumption, but hey, the physics holds up. As you reach the centre, yes, you stop accelerating, so you’d keep on falling with all the energy you have amassed on the first half of the journey. The bit where you reach the other side is where you’d be hoping there’s someone to catch you, or else some sort of handles on the hole wall.
As for how the Warrior Maidens knew how long it would take to hit the bottom, it’s a bit like when Willa knows all about the Cave Of Time - she knows you’ll grow old in it, but she also says nobody has ever made it out alive, so how does she know?!?
