Doesn’t it make sense for the Classic Thundercats to appeal more to Statue companies,like it already happens, instead of a Toyline company?

That’s quite interesting, I wish WB would bid again on the classics with MattyCollector…but I wonder if they would show up in stores over just buying online?
I read about Mattel’s interest in “ThunderCats.” It seemed they really wanted to tackle it head on.
Is there anybody here that can start up a petition letting Mattel know we fans want “Classics” figures. Then they would let WB know fans sales will go through the roof more so than it would be for Bandai’s Classics. #strengthinnumbers
I don’t know about any of you but last year I went to an event called ThunderCon/PowerCon. It was a Thundercats/He-Man convention. I was credentialed media there. Mattel executive SCOTT NEITLICH, their senior brand manager, was there and I asked him about Thundercats. He said WB offered the toy license to them and he said “We turned it down.” I asked why. Here is what he said, “Because we already had Voltron.”
That was straight from Scott Neitlich’s own mouth.
I’m not lying. Anyone who wants to put there heads in the sand and be in denial about it, be my guest. Bandai USA was a terrible choice for the toy line though.

There is nothing exact about it. I was at ThunderCon/PowerCon and so was Scott Neitlich and I talked to him about it. That is what he said.

When he says turned it down, that could translate “We turned it down, refusing to bid any higher than what a rival company bid, since we already shelled out for Voltron”
Scott was never going to say Mattel didn’t want to pay X amount for the license is he? I’m surprised Scott talked about WB/Mattel dealings so candidly. Kinda unprofessional in my opinion…

Has official word been released that the line is cancelled? I don’t mean to sound unrealistic, but unless anyone else has been living under a rock the past ten years, MUCH stranger things have happened in the action figure world than simply “large lags in time” between waves.

According to Scott Neitlich they didn’t. I wasn’t at PowerCon as just a fan since I was covering it as media.
There’s not going to be official word that it’s cancelled. They’ve quietly killed it.

I think it’s hilarious when people say they’ve “spoken to Scott about this/that”. You do realize he’s a customer support /relations agent? His only job, is to make the brand he’s assigned to appear more pleasing to consumers. I don’t knock him, his job is his job, but the fans (especially of MOTUC) seem to think he’s their friend giving them inside scoops. Mattel is in the business of selling products. There is absolutely no reason to believe any “cool secrets” he’s told you.
It wasn’t a secret. There was no secret conspiracy meeting. I simply asked him and he told me. He didn’t tell me it was a super secret and this was strictly off the record. It was on the record.
cloudraker19, you can believe what you want. But that’s what he said. If you are saying he’s a liar then fine. To me that doesn’t mean the poor job Bandai USA did with these toys any better.

I wanted Mattel to have this license as well. But my point is according to Mattel’s senior brand manager, they had the opportunity to get the license but they turned it down. And so we now have this toyline from Bandai USA who do a terrible job.
And not to be mean to Bandai because in Japan Bandai puts out excellent stuff. Just look at lines like Figuarts, SEC, etc., they are all high quality with great sculpts, paint apps, and accessories. We get nothing like that from Bandai USA.
You know what i mean, all he has done so far to everyone here and the community as a whole.

Also it’s not like i’m alone in all this. Numerous others think it’s dumb and annoying aswell and he still continues to with the same message all over old and new threads, but sometimes he change it up a little and makes his own thread. Most of the time though he lurks around in others, get them closed (cause of his off-topic talk) etc etc.

It isn’t healthy or productive. He even started spillin’ his haterade into the thread we made to positively support the show via tweeting and facebooking.
You all can believe what you want, but I’ve been a staunch supporter of this show from the beginning. I am simply upset with the hand it has been dealt. The subpar products from Bandai are a part of that.
This thread is about the future of the Bandai Thundercats toy line and I believe the line has no future. That’s my opinion. I was skeptical about Bandai getting this license from the beginning when it was first announced in 2010. I met and spoke with Bandai representatives at the PowerMorphicon in 2010 and I told them they better do a good job with Thundercats especially in light of how awful the new Power Rangers and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight toys were and how fans didn’t like them. The Kamen Rider toy line was a failure and no one bought those awful, dinky little overpriced happy meal toys that were better suited for blind box trading box toys than actual action figures. But I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when they told me how big of Thundercats fans they were. I thought the initial prototype pictures looked OK but the final product didn’t cut the mustard.
The 4" line have terrible paint apps for the faces. The eyes look terrible. The joints are mis-colored. The Thundertank which should’ve been the crown jewel of the line was a massive disappointment. Even when they take steps in a better direction like with the new classic 6" Lion-O they give him orange ankles and gigantic screws in his back. Just like with Kamen Rider, Bandai USA cut corners and didn’t give us the best toys possible. This line didn’t live up to its potential after fans waited for years to get new Thundercats.
My hope is at some point is the license will expire and a real company will get the Thundercats license at some point and make a new collector’s line at least based on the classic series. Or we can continue to get more of the original cast in the giant rotofigure form from NECA.
