Hello this is WilyKat again, I have a question for you people… Is it posible to find a complete (uncut) version of our first chapter “Exodus”?
I scanned the deep space and I’m not able to find it.
Thanks for your time,

Try contacting saltygirl here on the forums, I burned her a DVD copy of the Exodus episode which includes the lost intro. I have it somewhere on a DVD but it would take me forever to find it.
What’s the difference? Just the introduction?
No. The pilot, which was longer than your average 22 minute episode, had scenes edited out to fit later into the 22 minute format - and that edited version is what’s on our dvds. I have one of the missing scenes in a clip and available for download on my site (follow link in sig), if anyone is interested in a sample of what was edited out. I was going to do more, but I don’t have time to fool with media files these days. Excuse the quality too - it was likely a rip of a vhs. I didn’t make the original encode folks - just downloaded it several years ago!
Berbils can also be found in a slightly different version, which back in the day of file sharing without worries, could be found with unedited Exodus and two of the other first-episodes together in one huge file…which I assume was the result of someone encoding their Exodus movie vhs as there are no obvious breaks between eps or for commercials.
I actually have the latter myself…I think the whole thing is well over an hour and incudes i believe the first 3 episodes with the lost intro.
I asked this very same question, after I heard that where was a cut and a uncut version of the first 4 episodes.
I shall clarify that by the way, the full feature length pilot thing was 1hr and 19mins, and it was the first four episodes, from Exodus to the slaves of Castle Plundarr.
Now i’m only assuming that i’ve seen this uncut version, I’ve never seen the cut version (or at least never had both to compare the differences), however I recently acquired a media file of the first four epsidoes, I wouldn’t say it’s seamless but I would debate why the first four episodes were packaged together if not without purpose. Also I watched one of tcl.org’s uploaded edited clips and that was in the file I have.
So to answer the op’s post, yes I do believe you can find the uncut version of exodus and the following episodes. If you wish to get the file I have email me, I will not tell you how to do it on these forums for legal resons. In short I don’t mind going down for what I do, but i’m not harming these forums in the process.
ps
could someone give me a link to the uploaded copies of the cut section we have, or Purrisia has. I tried navigating tcl.org to find them… but i’ll be honest with, I didn’t get right for. It’s just i’d like to see what other scenes were cut and see if they appear in the video I have.
You can easyly see the difference Diego, if you are watching the Exodus, and you see for example Cheetara and/or Tygra telling that there are several clans of the mutants on the scopes (you’ll see their marks on their ships) and also when Jaga orders us to enter to the pods and I (Kat) have to push Kit into her pod, then you are watching the uncut version. I have investigated and there was a pilot “movie” of the 4 chapters. I still need to find it, but I’ll keep searching.
Thanks all for your repiles,
WilyKat :wilykat:
Chris here…
The subject of cut scenes from “Exodus” actually comes up a fair bit, so something I do have planned for this site’s Cartoon Section as soon as I can make it happen is an article with info all about this - I’ll be honest and say it won’t happen for a short while, but I hope to have it completed and online ASAP! ![]()
In the meanwhile, a couple of bits of info on this subject… ![]()
When ThunderCats was first produced, it was introduced with a special hour-long (with commercials) pilot - this pilot was basically the episodes “Exodus” and “The Unholy Alliance” cut together to form a mini-TV “movie”. This pilot was later released on home video, but with the addition of two more episodes edited onto the end of the pilot, “Berbils” and “The Slaves of Castle Plun-Darr”. This home video release is often referred to as the “movie version” of “Exodus”.
As far as I know, both the ThunderCats pilot that was broadcast and the home video release of “Exodus” featured what is known as the “lost intro”. The lost intro is basically a sequence of animation preceding the pilot episode’s opening titles, narrated by Earl Hammond and introducing each of the main ThunderCats characters. You can read all about the lost intro, and even download a video clip of it, from here: http://www.thundercatslair.org/cartoon/cartoonguide/articles/lost_intro.html ![]()
The “Exodus” portion of the ThunderCats pilot actually featured a number of short scenes and/or lines of dialogue that were cut from the “stand alone” version of the episode “Exodus” that was released into syndication. If my memory serves me correctly I’ve even seen a few complaints from fans who think that the version of “Exodus” released by WB on official DVD is actually incomplete. Well, it is and it isn’t - it’s true that the stand-alone version of that episode is missing some material that was present in the ThunderCats pilot, but, that material has only ever been present in the ThunderCats pilot/movie version of “Exodus”, it has never been part of the stand-alone episode version of “Exodus”.
Confused? So am I, LOL!
But, it kind-of makes sense if you think of it this way - the ThunderCats pilot/“movie version” of “Exodus” features deleted scenes that were not present in the stand-alone episode! ![]()
I still have to compile a list of all the material that was cut from the “movie version” of “Exodus”, but from memory I think there’s about 4 minutes worth of stuff, basically providing background info.
In addition to the deleted scenes that everyone remembers, a couple of scenes in the “movie version” of “Exodus” are scored differently to the stand-alone episode version.
Even though we (TCL) did have a couple of video clips online showcasing some of the material that was cut from the “movie version” of “Exodus”, I have to be honest and say that these clips were not comprehensive. I’m hopeful that soon there will be an article online at this site detailing all the cuts and changes that were made, hopefully with multimedia of some description to go with them! ![]()
Hope some of this info is of help, everybody! ![]()
Take care… ![]()
Well, that was a great explaination He-Fan! You trully know about it. In this Wildcat humble opinion those cut-off scenes gives necesary information and gives sense to the story, I dunno why WB didn’t included that pilot in the bonus material, it is priceless to many of us for sure.
Again, thanks for your reply

Something More About The “Exodus” Pilot
I have the VHS home video of the “Exodus” pilot, and it’s everything Chris says it is. I should add that three additional pieces of dialogue were cut from the soundtrack of the pilot episode. Here they are, following Tygra saying, “They’re fighting together? As allies?”:
WilyKat: “But – but they’ve always been at war among themselves!”
WilyKit: “Yeah. They hate each other as much as we hate them.”
Jaga: The alliance is probably a last desperate attempt to seize the Eye of Thundera."
Where I got this from is an old children’s read-along book and recording of the “Exodus” tale. It was put out back in 1985 or 1986 by Peter Pan Industries of Newark, New Jersey. I don’t have the audio tape anymore, but I did keep the book.
Wow Thanks Catspat (Lepp
) I’m amazed about how many new information I can get from wise people if I ask something!

My pleasure, Kat. Anytime. ![]()
I find it surprising that on the DvD’s they didn’t put on the extended versions of the episodes.
Chris here…
Well, in terms of the stand-alone versions of the episodes, there are no such things as extended versions of them - all there is is the ThunderCats pilot, and also the “movie version” of “Exodus” that was released to home video.
Now, if the question is, why didn’t WB release the ThunderCats pilot (complete with the bonus footage) as a special feature on one of the DVD sets, that I completely agree with, as it would have been fantastic to have - however, I find myself wondering whether WB actually don’t own (i.e., have access to) that footage. Bear in mind that WB weren’t the original owners of the ThunderCats series, and have only acquired the series in more recent years, so it’s possible that the ThunderCats pilot/“movie version” of “Exodus” wasn’t among the master tapes that they were given! ![]()
Take care… ![]()
yes thats true, i know i have the exodus on tape plus the new dvd one which is good so that is defenitly a plus for me :cheetaraveryhappy:
WilyKat again… I needed to see with my own eyes the pilot, so I found it on the thunderian network, finally I got it and I saw it, so yeah that’s the complete scenes which makes sense now. I noticed one thing… those lines are missing!
WilyKat: “But – but they’ve always been at war among themselves!”
WilyKit: “Yeah. They hate each other as much as we hate them.”
Jaga: The alliance is probably a last desperate attempt to seize the Eye of Thundera."
So is there a Banned version of the pilot? I’m a confused wildcat now..:?
WilyKat :wilykat:
Chris here…
How do you mean “banned”? :? As far as I’m aware those lines you quoted have never been a part of the ThunderCats pilot - they may, however, have been in the original script for the pilot, and likewise (although I haven’t read it for a while) may have been in Marvel Comics’ adaptation of “Exodus”, published in their ThunderCats #1 - which you can read more about here: http://www.thundercatslair.org/comics/marvel/marvel_01/ ![]()
Take care… ![]()
Well, I’m just confused, I took those lines from you Catspat, maybe you can explain me that? because I think I can barely remember those lines on the pilot a loooooong time ago. And if it’s true, then they banned that part on my copy of those files.
Help!
WilyKat :wilykat:
Chris here…
:jaw:
In total contrast to Catspat, I actually the audio tape from that book-and-cassette pack, but not the book!
I just checked my audio tape (which meant climbing up to a very high cupboard and emptying out several boxes of stuff!), and…sure enough, those three lines are present on the audio cassette, spoken by the TCats voice actors! :yikes:
I’ve checked my copy of the “movie” version of “Exodus”, as released on home video in the UK, and those lines are definitely missing from there - whether they were present in the version that was released on US home video is a question I can’t answer for a moment, but I’m on the case… ![]()
Take care… ![]()
Hehe well, that was a dutyfull search He-Fan, thanks!, Well have to find out the true about this case.
Take care
