Awesome news! :slight_smile: Re: the mini material, what I’d do if I were you is start up a dedicated thread here on the Team Board requesting that material you mention - hopefully with that it will push the mini’s stuff to the forefront of everybody’s attention and a strategic plan can be worked out for getting it all online! :slight_smile:

My spare time of late has been a lot more limited than I’d expected, but I’m still hopeful of making some more headway with this very soon! :slight_smile:

In terms of making these pages “live”, if you guys are agreeable I’m planning having an “Easter weekend update!”, showcasing this, the Martin Griffiths (comic artist) interview, the “Exodus deleted scenes” article, and, with a bit of luck, the 12 or so new pages of Original Comic Art I have to add to the gallery! :slight_smile:

Well gang, after an embarrassing 11 week break since the last time I updated this status thread, at long last I have an update! :slight_smile:

My spare time lately has been next to nil, but when I can I’ve been pottering on writing for the Episode Guide, and have now completed write-ups for the following episodes:

“Feliner - Part 2”
“Good and Ugly”
“Divide and Conquer”
“The Micrits”
“Lion-O’s Anointment Final Day - The Trial of Evil”
“The Super Power Potion”

Yep, I realise that to only have 6 write-ups to show over 11 weeks isn’t very good, but my one consolation to myself is that at least the Episode Guide is moving forward, and I will keep plodding on with it. My next jobs are to sort out the finalised images from the wealth of screenshots that MannyF has uploaded, and also incorporate these 6 episodes into HTML form, getting them “live” on the site! :slight_smile:

Also, one mini-milestone is that these episodes now bring the total of episodes reviewed up to 50 episodes! Only 15 more to go, and that’s season 1 completed! :slight_smile:

Last, but by no means least…

Kyle: Unfortunately, once again I’ve quoted characters in my write-ups that haven’t already got illustrations - sorry! :frowning: There’s no urgency, but at some point please would you be able to help me out with illustrations of the characters I need? The two characters are Micrit (a.k.a., the only Micrit character with a speaking role) from “The Micrits”, and also Maftet (the lynx god) from “Lion-O’s Anointment Final Day - The Trial of Evil”. As I say, there’s no hurry or pressure with these whatsoever, but if you’d be able to help me out that would be absolutely brilliant - many thanks as always, my friend! :slight_smile:

My one comment would be, the lynx god’s name I thought was Maftet rather than Maflet - it sounded like “Mufftat” in the episode itself, but got the “Maftet” spelling from Angie’s (Purrsia’s) website. Aside from that, these are amazing - I don’t know how you do it, you’re a genius! :slight_smile:

Well, it certainly has been a long time since this thread saw an update, hasn’t it? :slight_smile: I can only apologise for the delay - unfortunately, as has been pretty well documented, the summer has been a hectic and busy one for me, and so work on the Episode Guide has, by necessity, had to fall to the bottom of my list of priorities! :frowning:

However, these past couple of weeks I’ve had a fraction more free time, and so have taken advantage of that to further my work on the Episode Guide! Basically, this has involved incorporating into HTML all the write-ups I’ve completed so far but have yet to be added to the site - these being:

A couple of comments:

  1. You’ll note that “The Trial of Evil” and “The Super Power Potion” are both missing their screenshots. For the past year or more, MannyF has very kindly been providing me with screenshots, however, there are 7 episodes still to be done - more on this in a moment. :slight_smile:

  2. “The Evil Harp of Charr-Nin” is missing its title card image. Unfortunately MannyF wasn’t able to grab this for me, as the version of this episode that Warner Bros included on their US DVD release was missing its title card! :eek: However, fortunately the UK DVD release of this episode had its title card intact, and I’ll be grabbing this image and adding it at the first opportunity I get! :slight_smile:

Now, as I mentioned above, MannyF had been very kindly providing me with screenshots from all of ThunderCats’ season 1. In fact, thanks to MannyF’s hard work, the only episodes that still need screenshots provided for them are:

“Lion-O’s Anointment Final Day: The Trial of Evil”
“The Super Power Potion”
“The Mountain”
“Eye of the Beholder”
“The Trouble with Thunderkittens”
“Mumm-Rana”

Would someone be willing to help me out by grabbing screenshots from these episodes? :slight_smile: I know MannyF is quite busy and wants to ease back on his TCL work, so I’m slightly loathe to put on him by asking him outright - however, if he or anybody on the team was able to help me out, that would be awesome! :slight_smile:

If nobody else is able to help me out then it’s cool, I can grab images from those 7 episodes myself - however, when I begin working on season 2, I will need somebody to give me a hand with grabbing images, as with the amount of spare time I have it won’t be possible for me to grab screenshots on top of writing up every episode and doing the HTML for each one as well. :slight_smile:

Anyway, that aside, all other screenshots of all other season 1 episodes are assembled, uploaded, and ready to go, once the write-ups are completed! :slight_smile:

In terms of my immediate goals for the Episode Guide - although I’d emphasise that I’m categorically not making any guarantees, I would like to try and get the whole of season 1 completed by mid-December, and then, of course, make the pages “live” on the site, thus bringing our Episode Guide to the halfway mark. I’m not sure how realistic this goal is, as it involves me completing write-ups for another 13 episodes - however, even if I don’t achieve it, that’s what I’m working towards. :slight_smile:

I believe MannyF was using a piece of software that grabbed images at random intervals, he set it to grab 300 per episode, thus giving me loads to chose from - plus, obviously doing it that way you end up with lots of random images of a Berbil’s backside and such, LOL! Anyway, however you want to do it is fine by me - it’s very kind of you, my friend, thank you so much! :slight_smile:

EDIT: Also just to add that I got your PM - bit cream crackered tonight, but will try and reply tomorrow! :slight_smile:

Well gang, it’s been a hell of a long time since this particular thread has seen an update! :wink: But, one of my goals for 2010 is to get back into updating my sections here at ThunderCats Lair a bit more often. I’m sure I’ll still get busy during the year and this site will have to go on the backburner, but I really want to try and add as much as I can whenever I have the opportunity. :slight_smile:

To this end, I have finally (after well over a year) added the screenshots to Lion-O’s Anointment Final Day: The Trial of Evil. I grabbed these myself over Christmas, from the UK DVD, and uploaded them - the HTML for the page was already set up (although I did have to make some modifications to correct my hideous coding of 2 years ago!). :slight_smile:

This page isn’t “public” yet - if you look a few posts above this one, to that list of episodes? Those have been part-completed, ready to form the next update to the Cartoon Section since the back end of 2008. Yeah, I agree, even though there was little I could do about it last year due to outside pressures, that’s too long, and one of my immediate goals is to get everything completed for those pages so they can go “live” on this site. :slight_smile:

Hopefully some more updates will follow - as documented in another thread, I am working on trying to persuade my friend Mikey to take over my duties as the writer of the episode reviews, allowing me concentrate more on “project managing” and HTML-ising the Episode Guide, which is a more realistic proposition given my time constraints these days. :slight_smile:

Anyway, just to LYK that this project isn’t dead - it’s just been sleeping! :wink:

Obviously with the relaunch of the site, the Episode Guide needs rebuilding again - however, fortunately it should be much easier to port over the content than it was to create it in the first place! :smiley:

Unfortunately the liquid borders that Kyle set up for the quotes text don’t work in WordPress - this is probably because they use the “border-collapse” property, which is known not to work well in HTML documents that don’t have a DOCTYPE declaration in their header, and of course the info we input into WordPress doesn’t, the header is located someplace else, the HTML for the page body goes into a MySQL database… :slight_smile:

So, the long and the short of it is that, to retain the speech bubbles, the quotes now have to be graphics! :stuck_out_tongue: This is much more labourious than the old way of doing it, but having spent a couple of hours on this I can’t really see another option. I’m not thrilled with the way they look but can’t really find a way to improve them, so hopefully they’ll do as “good enough”. :slight_smile:

I’ve also removed the fan reviews (since only the first half dozen or so pages ever had them) - this is a controversial decision but I think it’s the right one, if there’s too much backlash I’ll add them back in! :wink:

I would have loved to set the Episode Guide pages up so that fans could post comments on them, but having done some burrowing inside the WordPress interface, if I switch that on it will more than likely enable this feature on every page on the site unless I go through and manually turn off the “Allow users to post comments” feature all the pages I / we don’t want comments on…which is a bit of a nightmare! :eek:

Also, a new addition is a list of which voice actors portrayed which characters in each episode - this info comes courtesy of forum member PKELL. This includes links to our About the Voice Actors page and also the Encyclopedia entries for the characters! :slight_smile:

Anyways, take a look gang, I think this is about as good as I can get it but if you have any ideas I’ll see what I can do! :slight_smile:

Also just to add that one of my goals is to try and get our original series Episode Guide completed, or at least each episode have a Synopsis, Cast & Character Appearances (since I have that info for all 130 episodes), and Screenshots at a minimum. Truthfully I really don’t have enough spare time to make a commitment re: the Reviews and Notes of Interest, but these other things ought to be achievable. Would anybody be willing to help me with the screenshots aspect? :slight_smile:

Ok I’ve made a start with this and I’ve completed The Unholy Alliance as much as I could. I could not complete the character appearances section as I have no idea where PKELL posted that stuff. I also couldn’t add the quotes either.

So the page is pretty much complete other than those 2 sections.

I’ve got some stuff going on in my personal life this week and next as you know, and then I should have a lot more time to devote to things like this - perhaps we could split the episode guide pages somehow, e.g. you tackling 1 - 10, me doing 11 - 20, you doing 21 - 30, me doing 31 - 40 - you get the idea. What do you think? :slight_smile:

Thanks for that link to the appearances info, that helps loads and I’ll add that in! However I’ll leave the quote bubbles to you as I don’t have the patience to make those! lol

and I just realised The Unholy Alliance had already been done :frowning: Both versions seem to be there, so luckily mind didn’t over ride the completed version :slight_smile: So feel free to delete the page I made for it :wink: With only ‘Exodus’ being posted as done earlier, I’d assumed it was the only one completed (just for a template)
